Led Zeppelin: 1970-03-09 Vienna, Austria (FLAC_AUD Master Source 2_2 CD)

I'd wanted to upload this source 2 recording of Led Zeppelin's Vienna show on its 46th anniversary yesterday, but unfortunately I couldn't. So I'm uploading it a day later. Besides, I uploaded the audience source 1 first generation recording here a year or two ago anyhow so there was a copy of the show if anyone wanted it. But this source 2 recording is a more complete copy of the show!

This is the KRW_Co transferred source 2 master audience recording and I've been listening to it this morning preparing this post. The more I listen, the more I like this source. And I listened to the 90 minute source 2 copy of the show earlier in the morning also. Both, in their own way and for their own reasons, have advantages and I rate this source 2 recording as great-to-excellent at times!

There is some audio clipping in the waveform on some tracks. It isn't horrible but it isn't good either. The sound and fidelity on the source 1 recording is actually the better sound and it is used in most boot label releases. But this source 2 recording is a lot better than most give it credit for too. It is a really clean audio and there is very little distortion throughout the show except in some of the heavier, faster parts at times. There isn't much in the high frequency range but the overall sound is level, clean, seldom distorted, and very easy to listen to.

The source 1 recording previously uploaded here has more high frequencies present and it does sound cleaner and better overall than this source 2 recording. But once again, source 2 is not bad sounding and I rate it as a great sounding recording. And this source 2 recording is a longer and more complete capture of the show as well. The source 2 recording is on average about 15 - 16 minutes longer than the source 1 recording. In fact, the song "We're Gonna Groove" is on source 2 and it is not on the source 1 recording. It is the opening song of the show.

Another plus for the source 2 master here is it has the complete "Since I've Been Loving You". Source 1 has the beginning of the song but then it abruptly cuts off real soon. But the song sounds awesome in the source 2 recording and you really just have to hear it. Plant really wails out some improvised lyrics and he's singing them from the heart it sounds like to me. This may be the best song on source 2 I feel like and this is where the upgrade from "great" to "excellent" sound comes into play as I mentioned earlier.

The show ends as far as the recordings go with "How Many More Times" and from what I have read nobody really knows if the band played an encore. And if they did, nobody seems to know why neither taper recorded it. But I'm glad what we have what we have (which is a little less than two hours) with this source 2 recording of the Vienna 1970 concert. And who knows? Maybe next year I'll upload the source 1 and source 2 mix to make the show as complete and possible. But in my opinion, this source 2 recording sounds better than the two source mix anyhow and KRW_Co captured a great digital copy of the master for us so the thanks goes to him for this material.

The more I have listened to this source 2 recording the more I have loved it and think it really is a nice recording. The level audio and mix seem to be steady and that makes it an easy show to enjoy. I just realized something I had labelled incorrectly in the past. I do have a source 2 master with a source 1 first generation copy of this show that has higher end frequencies and may have sounded better than this source 2 master transfer. I'll keep this one in mind, and having labeled it correctly now, I can upload it next time I upload a Zeppelin show from this date. This last paragraph is NOT in my text file for this current post.

Ozzy Osbourne: Bark At The Moon Rough Mix (FLAC_SB/Studio_1 CD)

I had a recent request for an Ozzy recording which featured the unreleased song "Spiders". Even though I had gotten this song on a CD-R trade or three back in the 1990's, I found it faster and easier to just find it out there on the web rather than look through tons of CD cases and spindles. The result is this superb sounding studio rough mixes copy I found.

This is from Ozzy's 1983 Bark At The Moon days and of course these rough mixes are from before the official studio release (which was in November of 1983) came out. The sound is superb and has very good stereo separation too.

As I already said, the sound is superb. It is the equivalent of a 1980's CD before remastering was being done. There was some very light audio clipping in some tracks but it was not anything even worth redoing because it is not a factor.

The last track, "One Up The "B" Side", is also the title of a superb++ 2 CD set I have too. It may have some of these songs on it? I got a silver 2 CD set of "One Up The "B" Side" from an old rarities selling chain that no longer seems to be around when I lived in the town I went to college in. If I locate the discs in the future, and of course I will eventually, I'll likely upload that item too since it has a lot of other songs on it and not just tracks from Bark At The Moon.

So, without further ado, here is the requested song along with many others from this rough mix of Ozzy tracks in the studio.

Today is the 31st anniversary of this excellent Triumph show that was broadcast live via satellite across all 50 states in the USA in 1985.

Triumph was on their Thunder Seven tour when this concert was played and that in itself means there are some great songs in this show. But rather than have me describe it all, let's get it uploaded so you can listen and decide what you think.

The waveform look great with no audio clipping. It looks like someone likely amplified the original audio to the maximum without clipping it possibly. However, even though this is an excellent sounding show, it lacks a little in the mix at the beginning I think. But it is not brickwalled either so that is good. You can hear everyone (all three of the band members) and their instruments. There is very little tape hiss also.

There are a few dropouts in the show. There's one at the beginning on CD 1 and then at least two on CD 2. "World of Fantasy" is incomplete too. The song just drops out and then the drum solo, already playing, picks up. I guess the taper wasn't paying close attention and ran out of tape unfortunately?

It's a little ironic that in the band interview before the show the disc jockey ask the band how they handle arguments on the road. They indicate they really didn't have them other than the short, normal kinds like between a "husband and wide" over small stuff. Yea, right! Everyone knows this band came apart due to their constant disagreements and arguments. When I first saw and met Rik Emmett in 2000 I believe half of his talk between songs was still putting down Gil Moore. They didn't get along well. But they did make great music while they lasted.

If you like Triumph, you'll like this show. It sounds excellent and the performance is just as good. I would have upload the show in the past but I only had an mp3 copy until today when I went and found a lossless copy. So here we go.

Journey: 2007-03-07 Manchester, UK (FLAC_AUD Master Remaster_2 CD)

I started working on this upload last night on the show's 9th anniversary. But after reaching midnight before I was done, I just decided to finish it this morning. But due to some storms coming through and shutting my power off five different times my web browser would not open the tabs I had opened. And even though I had saved my almost ready post for this show, it was gone and not available after the power issues stopped happening. So here I am again retyping everything this afternoon.

This is an excellent/superb sounding recording of Journey's second night in Manchester, UK on their 2007 tour with Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. It really sounds as if Steve Augeri is singing with the band too but it doesn't make sense and it is probably the backup vocals box that bands uses (many if not all of them) all of the time when doing live shows. This is an excellent sounding show and the band plays some really unique songs in the show from all eras of Journey music too.

A special thanks goes to "techtuts" for sending me the FLAC files after he remastered the show yesterday. Previously, I'd only had an mp3 copy of the show. I knew it sounded excellent but I just don't like sharing lossy audio unless it looks like it is all I will ever have. And even then I hate to do it!

I'm listening to this show all of the way through today as I make this post and it has the old Journey sound to it and I am really enjoying it.

The sound is excellent and borders on superb. The only thing keeping it from being a superb sounding show is the vocals are not as loud as the clean bass and high frequencies are. But they are not too low and actually it sounds normal the more you get into the show and get use to it too. It's barely even a noticeable factor to be honest.

The band may or may not have been lowering the vocals on purpose since Jeff Scott Soto had recently had to finish off the tour when Steve Augeri had some vocal issues and Journey replaced him. They may have been a little worried he couldn't do as good of a job on the songs? I don't know. But I have to admit, he did a great job and I was really surprised how well he knew and sang the songs when I saw them as they passed through my town on this tour. The really weird thing is it sounds like Steve Augeri is singing in this show too and I don't think it was Deen Castronovo. It may be though.

The band had a superb setlist here with tracks they did not play (from my memory) in the United States on this tour. They played old ones like "Mystery Mountain" from the pre-Steve Perry days and others like "Remember Me" (dedicated to Steve Augeri in the show) from the post Steve Perry days too. They also did a lot of songs played before but not as often like "Line of Fire", "Rubicon", and "Edge of the Blade". It is a really nice and career spanning set of songs they chose. And hearing "Opened The Door" in this show is just fantastic. This should be a staple in Journey shows as should "Winds of March" (not played in this or any other shows since Steve Perry was in the band).

Neal Schon really seems to be playing well on this night too. The whole band does but he sounds really good and his guitar solos and playing are up front in the show. The bass really is well balanced in this show as well and it many time is not heard this well in Journey shows. Ross Valory can be heard perfectly and so can Jonathan Cain on the keyboards. It has a very nice mix and a sound that really is enjoyable and very Journey.

Journey: 1986-10-10 Richfield, OH (FLAC_AUD Remaster_2 CD)

This is a first time upload here of this Journey show from 1986. It really has a great mix and sound to it. This is the October 10th, 1986 concert from the Cleveland, Ohio suburb of Richfield, Ohio. Many of the Richfield shows get passed around for all kinds of the bands as "Cleveland". But Richfield is the actual city that Richfield Coliseum was built in.

A very special thanks goes to "Steve7777" for the show and to "techtuts" for the remastering of the audio. And there are many more Journey shows, some new to the site and some older and remastered, that will be coming soon.

Here's a note worth knowing. While the Rubicon Reproduction's copy of this show is from the same source, this is NOT that file set. I am adding the artwork for the Rubicon release but this audio is from the DAT tapes before they were altered by Rubicon (or anyone) for his sharing of the shows. The excellent remastering was done by "techtuts" and it is a much better sounding project. I have been very pleased with the skills "techtuts" has when it comes to audio and he really knows what he is doing.

This show has a really nice and clean sound to it. And "techtuts" did a wonderful job of remastering the show with superb high end and low end frequency ranges coming through very strong and clear. There is some slight tape warble that can barely be heard in some spots but it does not mess up the recording and the show sounds excellent.

The sound is pretty consistent throughout the performance with not much crowd noise interfering. There are some points in the show, like during "Who's Crying Now", where the audio sounds as if the microphone got pointed away from the stage. But it is not very often and it gets back to the excellent sounding audio again soon in these rare cases. "Who's Crying Now" and "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" are really the songs the audio difference is noticeable in for longer than a few seconds. The audio does seem heavier in the left channel starting up during "Be Good To Yourself" too and as the show is drawing closer to the end it is not as good sounding as it is throughout the majority of the show up until "Faithfully" is played. But it is still good audio too even when it is not "as good". The audio still is an excellent overall recording made even better by the remaster and it is a lot better than I'd thought it would be honestly. It's the clean range in frequencies and the sound that makes it sound so good. It is not a muffled 1986 show like so many are.

The show is not without flaws obviously. But I bet it is the best sounding copy of the show out there and as soon as I get the lineage I think it will be somewhere in the master to first generation range from the DAT tape.

This show was just about four months before the band disappeared in 1987 not to be heard from again (as Journey) until 1996. After almost a decade, we all thought there was going to be a new Journey tour with the same band members including Steve Perry and Steve Smith. But that didn't happen and in 1998 Steve Perry was replaced by Steve Augeri and Steve Smith decided not to tour with Journey and was replaced by Deen Castronovo. And that began the new rendition of Journey which has changed a few times over the years.

There is some good news for long time Journey fans today however. With the departure of Deen Castronovo in 2015 as the band's drummer, Steve Smith has rejoined! And on the 2016 tour starting really soon, Journey is doing their first three shows with Santana which is the group both Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie (ex-Journey keyboard player and backup vocals) started out with before they quit Santana and created Journey in 1973. Unfortunately, the two bands won't be playing together when they make their way to my part of the globe. Journey will be having the Doobie Brothers open for them by that point and they are a band I have never seen and look forward to seeing. So it will surely be good and I hope I get to make it once again and record the shows as I have since 1999.

I think any Journey fan will really enjoy this excellent sounding show. And the band seems really energetic this night too as they jammed out for Richfield nearing the end of an era now long gone.

It's just over the 46th anniversary of this show and this copy that was requested a few months ago now. I've uploaded a master copy of this show in the past, in fact just over a year ago, if anyone is interested in it also.

I got this show, my first copy of it, in a 1990's CD-R trade. I did an EAC rip of the show last year and have finally made an upload of it this year.

The waveform in this Baby Face label copy is excellent and has no clipping. This is a great sounding show with an excellent setlist as well.

I haven't compared this Baby Face label copy lately to the other master audience copy I've uploaded a year ago. And since I am in a hurry to get it uploaded this morning because I have a lot to do today, I'm not going to have time to plug in the drive with the master copy as well as a few other copies and compare them this morning. My primary reason for uploading this copy today is that it was a request a few months ago and I am finally getting the time to get to it today.

Today is the 36th anniversary of this recently shared copy of this The Eagles concert from Inglewood, California's The Forum in 1980. This show was right before the band had their final falling out and broke up until they reunited again in 1994.

This is a huge upgrade and superb sounding remastered copy of the show that recently was shared right after founding member Glenn Fry died on January 18, 2016. A special thanks goes out to "Waxly Molding" for the recent sharing of this remastered and upgraded copy.

This is a remaster as well as it being a second generation copy is superb. The sound is vastly better than a more common copy of the show that has been circulating for ages. The show blows the more commonly shared copy out of the water. I was really surprised at how good this copy sounds.

The Eagles broke up in July of 1980, just four months after this show, and vowed to never play again until "hell freezes over" due to the strife within the band and heavy drug use and abuse going on then. So when they got back together after 14 years in 1994, when they were all clean and sober, they returned on their "Hell Freezes Over" tour and have continued on and are still playing today.

After Glenn Frey's death, less than two months ago, they played a Grammy (or some sort of event like that) type of event being televised they played one song for the event with their long time friend, Jackson Browne, filling in for Glenn Frey. I have the video of it in HD even though it sadly just doesn't sound the same.

While Jackson Browne is not likely going to take Glenn Frey's place as one of The Eagles, it does look as if they plan on carrying on without Glenn Frey. At least I hope they do. I just wish I could have seen them before Glenn Frey passed away when the band still had the long time members in it. Because you can rarely replace a lifelong member and have everything still sound the same. The Eagles have been one of the few bands that can still play songs from any time in their career and have the song sound like it did so many years ago.

I still enjoy the 1973 - 1978 concerts from the band the most (especially the earlier 1973 - 1975 shows). But since these guys are such talented artists and have such great songs, I've continued enjoying their music on through today's concerts. I'm curious to see what happens now that a lifelong member has finally died. But I have little doubt that whoever they pick, if they pick anyone, to fill in for Glenn Frey will be a talented singer and artist that can play and sing the songs right.
