The Firm: 1985-03-21 Houston, TX (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

This is a great-to-excellent sounding The Firm recording of a show I was at 30 years ago today.  This was my first out of two The Firm concerts I saw in Houston with the second show being on 1986-05-2X (I'd have to look and see what the date was).

I really believe this is a monitor feed rather than a true soundboard recording.  But it has been shared and circulated as a soundboard, so I'll leave it that way.  The crowd in the Houston Summit can barely even be heard in between songs and that is another reason I question if this may be a monitor feed.

A special thank you goes to "Datfly" for making this recording available to us!

The sound in this recording is very clean but it also sounds like the high end frequencies have either been cut a little or compressed.  It in no way sounds bad and the mix is really good too.  Jimmy Page's guitar playing is really clean and up front as well as Paul Rodgers vocals.

This is not the complete show and is a little over an hour of the audio from it.  I'm really glad songs like "Money Can't Buy" and "Live in Peace" made the cut though because I like the Page solos in those songs (and others).

I hope you enjoy the show...

I saw The Firm a few months after this December 1984 London show in Houston.  It was my first time seeing Jimmy Page perform live (as well as Paul Rodgers too).  It was a great concert and one I still have some memorabilia from at my house down in Houston.  I had climbed up a little and removed a big, bright lightbulb out of the roof of the Houston Summit :-)  Don't ask me why...it just seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

The Firm returned to Houston again one year later and I got to go see them a second time.  But after that, they were done.  And I soon afterwards discovered the world of live recordings and taping.  And that has led (or Led) me to posting this show for others to enjoy.

I hope you enjoy the concert and bonus materials...

The Firm: 1985-03-23 Austin, TX (FLAC_AUD Possible 1st Gen_2 CD)

Here's an excellent capture of the Austin The Firm show 29 years ago tonight.  This is a great show, excellent audience recording, but it is incomplete.  My guess is the taper ran out of tape?

I was going to go to this show myself but was unable to make it due to my job (and the 200+ mile drive from Houston).  I'm hoping to find a recording some day of the Houston show from an audience perspective too.  I was at that show but didn't have any taping equipment to record it myself at the time unfortunately.

The person who recently shared this show on Dime mentioned they believe it may be a 1st generation copy from the master tape.  But they didn't know for sure.  It sounds very much like it could have been too.  It's obvious the taper didn't get the complete show (or at least share it).  I uploaded the superb soundboard of this show a while back and it has the the full, complete show and can be found here on my site.  This recording is one you should still enjoy even if you have the soundboard version too.  The soundboard version for this Austin 1985 show can be found here.

I was going to upload the partial Houston soundboard from the previous night last night, but I got busy and never got to do it.  If anyone wants that one too, just leave me a comment and I'll upload it when I get a chance (soon).

I hope you enjoy this night from 1985...

The Firm: 1985-03-23 Austin, TX (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

Here's an excellent soundboard recording of the 1985 Austin show of The Firm.  The previous show, two nights earlier, is also an excellent soundboard of that show.  It is not complete though.  But it is great too!  I'll upload it later.  I was at the 1985 Houston show, but since this Austin show is pristine and complete, I'll upload it first.

It's rather interesting that The Firm had a song released on their Radioactive LP, the one they were touring on, titled "Somebody To Love".  This is not the last song they play (as it may look).  Instead, it's the Led Zeppelin style, older song Zeppelin did during their medley in way too many shows to isolate just one.  It's definitely not the song off of The Firm's LP that they play on track 8 of CD 2!

I hope you enjoy this night from 1985...
