It's been a while since I've posted a show and this one I'm posting today,

with a temporary 7 day file sharing site, because I love this artist's

voice and music and I'm doing the work needed to properly get it ready to

burn to CD (or play on a PC). This is also the very first 2017/2018 show

I've seen shared from Feist's "Pleasure" tour.

While I am a huge Feist fan, I really am not too impressed with her 2017

release of "Pleasure". It does have some good songs and she does sound

great vocally. But the songs aren't exactly what I was hoping for

musically. Especially after 6 years of waiting for a new release from

Feist.

As always, Feist's music does sound better live when compared to her studio

releases. She shines in her live shows I feel like. I've seen some great

versions of some of the new songs on YouTube. And Feist is the type of

artist that is constantly changing up the songs she sings and keeps them

fresh and interesting. The song never remains the same I guess you could

say.

The waveform looks great with no audio clipping in the recording at all and

plenty of room to work with the audio if you wanted to. The sound is

excellent but it could use a nice mastering to work with the highs and

lows. But overall, it sounds great and is a very enjoyable listen just the

way it is from the master source.

The taper reported it was raining very hard during the concert. I've

sampled the show and haven't really noticed any rain sounding noises. But

I still haven't burned it to disc and listened to it loud through the home

theater system yet either.

Thanks goes to "willer" for sharing this show on Dime on the 20th of

January, 2018. I believe "willer" was the taper but I'm not 100% sure?

Today is the 46th anniversary of this Creedence Clearwater Revival show in the Los Angeles area.  The recording is not bad either.  The source being low generation (2nd generation) helps I am sure.  But there are issues with the recording too.  I'll get into those below as I describe the recording.

I couldn't sleep tonight, and since I haven't been able to upload a show in a long time, I decided to see who's concert anniversary it was today.  I am trying to get to a point where I can start uploading regularly again but it has been difficult lately.  And on top of other issues keeping me busy, the hard drive on my main PC (this PC) is failing and will "imminently fail" according to the boot up message.  So this is something I'll have to take care of before I can return as well.

The waveform has no clipping (or maybe one spike into the red really) and it doesn't show any brickwalling.  But the audio likely has been amplified and it is close to being maxed out in  the waveform. 

The audio sounds great but it has issues as I mentioned.  There is some distortion in louder, heavier bass parts of the show and there is also an issue early on that sounds like a flat spot on a tape head on the tape recorder/player or maybe just a tape issue where the audio goes between good and great sounding in waves.  But this clears up for the most part too as the show progresses.  And the instruments can easily be heard as can the vocals.  But again, the "flat spot on the tape head" sound does keep on chooglin' (or arising) and keeps appearing in various spots around the bend.  OK, enough CCR humor/analogy here.

There are some songs reportedly missing from what I researched and there are a few dropouts in the recording.  But it really does flow nicely in the show and it is not a big issue.

Thanks to "deadhead69" for sharing this one on Dime a while back.  I listened to the whole recording as I was preparing the post and it is really a nice one.  With so many CCR shows (audience and soundboard recordings) having distortion, being bad recordings, etc out there; it's nice to hear one you can actually understand and hear the different musicians equally on.  If it wasn't for the tape/recorder issue in the audio it would easily be an excellent recording.  But to a CCR fan, I think you'll like it just fine as is.  The guitar really sounds great in this show also!

Led Zeppelin: 1977-06-13 New York, NY (FLAC_AUD Source 2 Master & Source 1 1st Gen Mix_3 CD)

It's been a long time since I've...uploaded a Led Zeppelin show (or any show for that matter).  All I can say is I have been busy and I also needed a break.

This show is one I've never uploaded before and it's one that was requested over on my Facebook page about a month ago.  This is a great sounding recording too.  Great means pretty much middle of the road of you've ever looked over and noticed the ratings (above all the band names and links) I give shows.

I think the source 2, or primary source used here, recording of this show is the best one.  The source 1 recording has too much noise and distortion throughout it but does have more high frequencies.  But still, the source 2 recording is cleaner and much easier to listen to I feel.  Of course this upload is a mix of the two sources with source 1 being used to fill in the missing material in the show after "Kashmir".  Stanko, or source 2, reportedly taped the full show but lost the tape with the material after "Kashmir" and up through "Achilles Last Stand".

This really is a nice performance by Led Zeppelin you can hear throughout this show.  Robert Plant sounds great vocally and Jimmy Page sounds on fire during his solos.  His "Over The Hills And Far Away" solo sounds great as I listen to it now.

The waveform looks great for both sources and there is no audio clipping either.  The audio sounds pretty level too throughout the show in each source.  There is some crowd chatter heard.  Primarily a yapping girl can be heard in the source 2 audio at times.  And in the source 1 audio, or the Artie audio, it's a crap-shoot at who may be heard at times.  Artie is the famous Led Zeppelin New York taper that is also known for talking a lot in his recordings.  But overall, this is a great sounding two source mix.

I've got a DVD-A of this source 2 material that I think sounds the best of all audio I've ever heard for this show.  In the text file for the DVD-A, it mentions that the audio was transferred off of the master tapes using the baking process to prevent any further oxidizing of the tapes.  This source 2 audio being shared here now is the same audio and came from the same transfer after it was converted over to the CD standard format.  It is not from another transfer of the master tapes prior to the baking of them (which of course allows a one time transfer and they're no longer any good).

The more I listen to this show, the better it is sounding to me.

So here is a breakdown of the tracks from the source 1 material that was used to patch this show and make it complete.  "Over The Top", "Heartbreaker", Jimmy Page's violin bow guitar solo, and "Achilles Last Stand" are the source 1 patch tracks.  But when "Stairway To Heaven" comes in, it goes back to the original source 2 material through the end of the show.  There are likely other parts in the show where a short section from source 1 would be added to fill in a gap (usually between songs) in the source 2 recording when something like a tape flip occurred.  But the text file lists the above mentioned songs as fully source 1 material as well.

I wish I knew where I got this from but I cannot seem to nail that fact down tonight.  I wanted to thank the project creator.  They also cleaned up some sound issues such as balancing the channels and working with the audio (not mentioned how) using Sound Forge.  So technically, this audio may be slightly different sounding that the DVD-A copy I mentioned a little bit ago.  Whoever did the work did a great job and from everything I can see they knew what they were doing and did it right.

I wish I could have uploaded this one on its 39th anniversary which was less than two weeks ago.  But I was not able to.  Since I had some time tonight and I knew this one was wanted by a few people, I decided to get it done and uploaded for my friends.

Here is a show I have never uploaded a copy of before.  I had wanted to upload this show on its 45th anniversary yesterday but I was not able to do so.  So I figured I'd upload it this morning since I cannot sleep.

This is the copy I decided to go with because I think it has one of the best mixes and the work done on this copy sounds and looks great also.  The highs are not cut from this copy like on some of the other label copies and it doesn't have the rougher sounding distortion that the master copy has.  I'm not saying this is the very best copy, but from my checking of about 6 copies of the show I have, I liked what I was sampling in this copy a lot so I chose it.

The waveform looks fine in this show's audio and there is no audio clipping.  There may have been some slight compression used when the show was being mastered.  But it sounds like it comes from a low generation source and as I mentioned up top the highs are more present and the distorting portions sound much better here in this recording.

The audience is not an issue in this recording either.  They are relatively quiet or not caught by the taper as the music plays for the most part.  You can hear them clapping in various songs and hear some talk, whistling, etc throughout the show.  But they were a quiet crowd.  And there even seems to be a rumbling going on in the crowd too because Plant jumps all over the people causing the issue and more or less tells them they will not play if it continues.

As with all shows lately, I am revisiting this one as I prepare the upload.  And I really like it more and more as I listen.  The sound improves a lot too around "Since I've Been Loving You".  I'm sure the taper had to get things set and working right and do the technical adjustments earlier on as we all have to do sometimes.

There are some parts of the show with distortion and it really is in the real heavy and fast parts of the show sometimes when the bass, drums, and guitar are all jamming together.  It sounds like the distortion comes from the taper's gear just not being able to handle the loud show and the limitations with his gear.  Not every part like this is distorted and the distortion is not the kind that is so bad you cannot listen to it.  You can still hear the show just fine.  And the taper sounds like he is close to the stage as well so each member can be heard pretty equally in the mix.

There are a few rarities in this show as well.  The band plays "Four Sticks" and "Gallows Pole" as well as "Misty Mountain Hop" as one of the encore songs.  "Gallows Pole" is played in an incredible way and it sounds awesome in this performance.  "Misty Mountain Hop" became a normal track in the 1973 tour but it wasn't played a lot (maybe at all...I need to check that) in the 1971 shows and hearing it in this show is rare.  He introduced the song saying "this is a song from the next album" and it does sound different than later versions too.  I have always loved the "Minnesota Blues" and "Honey Bee" parts of some Led Zeppelin "Whole Lotta Love" performances.  And they play them both in this show.  Robert Plant also adds in part from "Celebration Day" in the near end of "Communication Breakdown" which is a thing I don't think they did in any other recordings of their live shows before/after this show.

I just noticed as "Gallows Pole" is ending the recording sounds like it becomes brighter sounding.  It almost sounds as if another source may have been mixed in.  It may not be anything at all like I am saying it "sounds like".  It may be something as simple as the taper making an adjustment to his gear.  But the distortion I spoke of sounds to have lessened also as "Whole Lotta Love" starts up and this would have been a spot I would have expected to hear the distortion more.  I do not think this a second source mixed in but you tell me what you think when you hear this part of the show.

I really think this is a great-to-excellent sounding show myself.  I love the sound but I also can deal with imperfections in a recording as long as I can still hear the songs fine.  And that is the case with this recording.

One last thing worth mentioning is the great job the taper did at keeping the show sounding the same throughout it.  Unlike many other shows out there, the audio seems to have the same great sound throughout the show and you don't have a mix of better sounding parts of the show alongside other parts sounding worse.  The only (small) issue in the sound changing is the parts where some distortion is present.  But overall, this should be a show any Led Zeppelin live fan should enjoy without any problems!

This is another show I have never uploaded but have had for decades now.  The reason I am uploading it this morning is because this copy sounds so much better than the two trading days copies I got in the 1990's.  This is the "techtuts" remaster of the Atlanta, Georgia 1980 master audience tape(s) of the Journey concert and it sounds great (excellent to me)!

This is a huge upgrade, not only in lineage but in sound, to the copies of this show that have been circulating over the decades.  This is the same taper who taped the 1979 and 1981 Atlanta shows too and you can tell he was a huge Journey fan.  His excitement is a little contagious.  But "techtuts" did a wonderful job of not having the tapers comments dominate the recording.

The waveform is of course flawless with no audio clipping or other issues.  There is actually a lot of space to spare in the waveform before it comes anywhere near clipping any audio!

The mix is really excellent in this recording and the low end bass frequencies, mid range frequencies, and high frequencies are mixed perfectly to make this the best copy of this show that exists.  I have put off uploading my older CD trade days copies because they just were not very good sounding.  But in this master source you can hear everything.  Ross Valory on bass, Steve Smith on drums, Neal Shone on guitar, Gregg Rolie on keyboards and backup vocals, and of course Steve Perry on vocals...they are all easy to hear and enjoy!

There are a few small cuts in the show where tape flips occurred.  Actually, the more I think about it; there may just be one short cut?  In the opening intro to "Wheel in The Sky", which is titled "Moon Theme", there is a very short cut and almost no music was missed.  It is only the first second or so of the "Moon Theme" intro that is missing before taping resumes.  There may be another small cut but I don't recall where it was if there even was one.

The old copies of this show were plagued by poor sound and audience noise.  There were too many bad EQ jobs in earlier copies I have heard of this show.  But "techtuts" got a perfect mix and sound and he made the audience noise where it is not even a factor it sounds like.

As I listen to the show with headphones on and a few of my own effects and EQ'ing via the PC, it blows me away how much this show's sound has improved in this copy.  Even without any effects or EQ as I listen it is so much better sounding.  Just simple things like Steve Smith's cymbals being so clean as he hits on them can be heard and appreciated in this remastered master recording.

I could go on reviewing and telling you how much I love this show.  But rather than do that, I'm going to get it uploading so when I get back home it will be ready to post.  I know any Journey fan, and especially those who have heard this show in the lesser sounding copies, will love this show and its sound.

I'm including the old Around The Places artwork created by an unknown label that has the wrong date of 1980-08-19 for the show.  In fact, I had to change a lot of things on their artwork since the date was listed in multiple places.  I should have renamed it Around The Places & Back To The Master  but I didn't.  Anyhow, the date is correct now and I just named it Atlanta 1980-08-29 Master (Remastered) for those who like making discs and printing artwork.  However, the setlist for the no label copy is not a perfect match since they had joined a couple tracks together as one.  This recording being shared has not done not and has tracked the songs individually as you can see above in the setlist.  But I think you can figure out what song is what if you're a Journey fan, and if you aren't, it'll still be easy to decide what you're listening to :-)

This is a first time upload here of an incredible Journey show from Buffalo, New York in 1979.  This is one of the best performances by the band that I have heard in a long time too.  They were really on fire this night and Steve Perry was doing some vocal renditions I've never heard before.  He was not holding back on this night and neither was the rest of the band.

The sound in this show I rate as good-to-great but be sure you've read how I rate shows (under the "0-Sticky Notes..." or first label on the right side of the screen) before getting too excited.  You may love it as much as I do or hate it maybe?

I have been listening to it tonight with headphones on as I prepare this post.  I have EQ'ed it and used some effects via my Realtek HD Audio Manager program to make it sound better to me.  I am thoroughly enjoying the show myself.

The waveform look great and audio clipping and other related audio issues are not a problem at all.  I do believe the audio has possibly been processed slightly (EQ'ed) at some point but I'm not sure.  This is not going to be a Hi-Fi, knock your socks off sounding recording like some other audience recordings have been.  But I can hear everything from the drums, guitar, and bass, to Perry's vocals just fine as I listen.

I don't know much about this show or recording at all.  In fact, until recently I never had a lossless copy of it at all.

One great thing about the recording is the audience noise is not bad at all.  The taper doesn't sound like he was close to the stage but you do not have a lot of audience interference.  You can hear a very excited crowd in between songs as they cheer but the chatter between people and annoying kinds of interfering audience noises are not in this recording.  The taper is quiet throughout the show and really does a great job of recording the concert as well.  And that is a huge advantage in this recording.

The sound does change when the tape has a break in it (tape flip, recorder stopped, who knows) during "Do You Recall" a little after the middle.  The sound is more "tin can" (without the bass) sounding as it picks back up again and the song finishes.  With this being the last song on disc 1, I tend to think the taper had to change tapes or flip his tape.  And as "Just The Same Way" begins on CD 2 the sound is back to a more full range of frequencies sound with a few small issues as the taper presumably checked his gear and made sure things were set and taping right.

From the beginning, of the recording and as the show progresses, the sound does improve.  It becomes cleaner sounding I believe.  Whether this is in my head, I've gotten use to the sound, or whatever the reason is; I believe it gets better sounding.  And what really blows me away more than anything about this show is Perry's singing and the band's tight playing.    There is really something magical about the 1979 shows and this specific one especially.

Hopefully, and in the not too distant future, we'll have a remaster of this show which will only improve the sound more.

This is an upgrade to the previously uploaded copy of this same show that I only amplified two years ago.  It may be the same source, one that came from my good Journey friend "Tales", as the Rubicon Reproductions copy.  I just cannot recall right now if they are two separate sources or not.  If I find out there is anything wrong with the above information (or any information) I will update this post with a notation and corrections.

This upload is the copy I sent "techtuts" of the unamplified copy I got from "Tales" I am fairly confident and then "techtuts" remastered the show.  It sounds excellent and I just wanted to share the upgrade with other Journey fans this morning.  It's always nice to hear upgrades of your favorite bands!

The waveform in the show looks perfect with no audio clipping or other issues.  There is some tape hiss but it is not bad.  The high frequencies and the low frequencies both sound very well mixed and it comes together as a really great listening experience.

The audience recording is excellent and the crowd is not an annoyance or issue in the recording either.  You can hear the Japanese clapping on some songs as they like to do as they follow songs many times.  But it isn't a loud sounding clapping and the music is not disturbed and of course is louder too.  It kind of gives you the feeling of being in a seat right there with the crowd up close to the stage.

The artwork I am including is from the Rubicon copy and all I did is add "Remastered" to the front and back artwork.

This recording is not lossy but it may be a 32 kHz sourced recording.  I cannot tell myself without doing a frequency analysis.  But "techtuts" has already done this and confirms it is not lossy.  Don't worry about the strange Trader's Little Helper (TLH) readings.  TLH is an unreliable way of testing audio for lossiness  sometimes.  So if some tracks appear lossy and others state "track cannot be qualified" in the TLH CDDA test in the download, it is nothing to worry about.

This is a very enjoyable show, excellent performance, and it sounds excellent too!  I think this show has one of the better Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain guitar solos in the live rendition of "Wheel in The Sky" that the band ever did.  I still like the Houston 1981-11-06 version the best (probably because I heard it first) but this one is another great one.

The show is definitely an upgrade to what was previously uploaded here two years ago and has a better mix as well thanks to "techtuts'" work on it and his always superb remastering skills.

And now we are to the last Led Zeppelin show I have not ever uploaded from the 1980 European tour as well as the last show of the band before John Bonham  died less than two months later.  EVSD did a decent job on this one too.

This is an excellent sounding 5 disc set of both the soundboard recording (discs 1 & 2), audience recording (discs 3 & 4), and the final disc 5 which has news reports of John Bonham's death and the possible end of Led Zeppelin from 1980 radio broadcasts.  The final disc can be easily added to disc 2 (soundboard) or disc 4 (audience) since it is under 4 minutes.  In fact, it could be added to both discs if you wanted it at the end of each source's  recording.  The different news reports are just one track and it is 3:52 in total running time.

The waveform does have clipping in the audio which surely came from EVSD over amplifying the audio or when they EQ'ed it.  It isn't horrible clipping but it has more than I like.  But what do you expect?  Many labels can press a professional disc but do not really know how to properly edit and work with the audio too many times unfortunately.  But the show and recordings sounds excellent-to-superb to my ears.

This final Led Zeppelin show may very well be the best sounding show out of the 14 concerts they performed in Europe in 1980.  This was their comeback after three years of not touring and the United States tour was to begin in November 1980.  And after the previous 1980 shows leading to this last one, they were warmed up and in a groove and ready to continue on after a short break (which wound up being 27 years before they played a full show again).

This paragraph a little off topic and not related to the show.  But it all has to do with this same 1980 time frame and what I talk about in this post.  I have a real, true, and never used Led Zeppelin ticket from their November 13, 1980 Chicago, Illinois show that never happened.  How you ask?  It is thanks to Led Zeppelin Tickets!  The day John Bonham died, the tickets arrived in the United States for the bands first shows so they could be sold.  But they were not distributed since the tour was obviously cancelled due to John Bonham's passing away on September 25, 1980.  Led Zeppelin Tickets helped me in getting my ticket and if you ever have any interest in owning one there are likely some left.  This is the FACEBOOK PAGE and their main website is HERE (or just go to LedZeppelinTickets.com for more information).

Getting back to the show at hand here now, this is a really awesome performance by the group and as I stated it may be their best performance on the tour since it was their last night.  I like Jimmy Page's (different again) intro to "Since I've Been Loving You" and his different ending to "Trampled Underfoot" as well.  I'm not saying this is the definitive copy of the show being shared or even those tracks when compared to other shows because it likely isn't.  But it is a really excellent and even superb sounding recording in both the soundboard and audience discs for the show.

I noticed on the soundboard disc 1 that there was an audience patch when I was starting to work on this upload yesterday.  I'm listening to disc 2 of the soundboard now and have not heard any more patches yet and I am up to "Kashmir".  Ha!  What a great time to make that statement because there is another audience patch for about 20 seconds in the middle of "Kashmir" I heard right after I typed what I did.

I am listening to the audience source(s) used now (after finishing the soundboard discs) as I finish preparing this upload.  The audio sounds excellent but I know an unaltered copy of a low generation audience source is what I want.  I don't know if one exists or if I even may have one on the drive not plugged in now?  I looked briefly online yesterday for anything I might not have had (audience or soundboard for 1980-07-07) and I could not find anything.  But I am fairly sure I do not have a low generation copy of this same source audience recording and if I do it is not one that is unaltered.  But it is obvious the audience recording this was sourced from was an excellent sounding recording so there is likely an unaltered copy out there somewhere (hopefully besides in EVSD's hands).

Both the audience and soundboard recordings make for very enjoyable listening though so you should not be disappointed because the instruments and vocals are all easily heard, mixed decently, and the sound is excellent at least.  The high and low frequency ranges are present as well in the audience recording and it has a more "full range" of sound..  It has its flaws in some areas but is generally a nice, clean sounding recording.  "Hot Dog" sounds like two audience sources, possibly running at different speeds, were used and that is very noticeable.

Using the Trader's Little Helper (TLH) program to check for lossiness in the audience recording, it left some question marks in my mind as to whether or not lossy audio was used.  But after a frequency analysis (FA) it looked lossless and was just altered by the EVSD EQ work causing it to look possibly lossy to TLH.  This happens sometimes when EQ'ing is done, frequencies are cut or altered, etc.  But it is a lossless and NOT a lossy sourced audience source.

I'm not going to run on and do much more talking here this early morning.  I'm wanting to get this 5 CD set uploading.  I will say the full artwork scans are in the upload but they are low resolution scans and not large files.  They are 150 dpi scans so it isn't too bad and they can surely be resized  if need be.

I'm glad EVSD did a decent job on this one as well.  I'll surely be uploading other copies of this show as time goes by.  I forget what all I have for this date but I do know I have an unaltered first generation copy of the soundboard as well as so a number of various label copies and some remasters too.  I saw something that made me think there may be a Winston Remasters copy of the show but I do not have nor have I seen that one before.  It may be a future project or something like that but I really do not know.  Hopefully, if a Winston Remasters copy doesn't already exist, one will someday soon.  I have a feeling that one will be the definitive copy since he does such incredible work and he also works with the best sources (lowest generation) recordings in his projects.  He really gets things sounding the best in most cases I feel.

This is a sad show to listen to knowing it was the final, all original members Led Zeppelin show ever.  And Jimmy Page does do a "Stairway To Heaven" solo that is totally different than any other version of the song I have heard him doing.  As I stated a few posts back, it was like he was saying "goodbye" without even realizing it in this song on their 1980 final tour.  And what better way to say goodbye than through a never played before variation in "Stairway To Heaven".

Led Zeppelin: 1980-07-05 Munich, Germany (FLAC_AUD Source 1 & 2 Mix_2 CD)

This is the second from last show Led Zeppelin played with John Bonham.  It is also the second from last show in the requests I've had for the 1980 concerts.

This is a great-to-excellent sounding two sources mix of the show.  I wish I knew who did the work but I do not have that information.  The way it is put together, I imagine somebody over on R-O did the work and created the project.  This is a very enjoyable listen!

The band had a special guest join them on the final song, "Whole Lotta Love", in this show.  Band Company member Simon Kirke sat in with Led Zeppelin and played on the final song closing out the show on this Saturday night in 1980.

There was no artwork for this specific two source mix but I did find some for another two source mix.  The only difference is the Source 1 material used and mentioned on it was second generation material and not first generation material like this mix being shared used.  I'll include it but just keep this in mind.

The waveform looks nice with no audio clipping or brickwalling.  The sound is great most of the time but it has its excellent moments too like in "All My Love".  Source 1 in this two source mix is from a first generation transfer and Source 2 is from a third generation transfer.

The crowd can be heard clapping and talking sometimes and it isn't as clean of a recording as some other audience recordings are.  But it still is very nice.

I'm listening to Page's guitar solo now in "Trampled Underfoot" and it seems clean and up front.  The mix is a good one and you can hear the whole band in their individual singing and instrument playing throughout the whole concert.  But it could use a good Winston Remasters working to make it into a much better sounding show also.

As with many shows, the sound starts off not sounding as good as it gets a few songs into the show.  The sound does improve after "Train Kept A Rollin'" and even a little more again just a little bit further into the show.

There is not a lot of hiss in the recording and yet you can hear there is some there.  I'm wondering if the audio was worked on to make it less hissy?  I cannot say for sure but the high frequencies do sound like they may be tampered with a small amount and this would be a likely result of trying to remove some of the tape hiss.  Once again, this is speculation on my part and I may be way off in thinking this?  It just sounds like a possibility to my ears.  Sometimes the high frequencies seem to be more prevalent than others and it could simply be from something such as the person taping the show trying to keep a microphone hidden and not pointing it with a clean and clear line of sight towards the stage?  Who knows, but it sounds great still.

The crowd seems very manageable and they don't interfere much in the audio.  You can hear close by people clapping in between and during some songs as I already mentioned and you also hear a few comments every so often.  They can be heard and yet they aren't the annoying show ruining kind of audience interference thankfully.

Source 1 is the primary audio source and Source 2 is used for patching any missing moments.  So this really is most all Source 1 that you hear.  The recording was shared as a matrix over on Dime but this does not appear to be a matrix recording and it sounds like it is just a mix with the two audience sources used. The text file has no information calling it a matrix at all either.

I like the start of "Since I've Been Loving You" in this show.  It is a little different and a little slower and sadder sounding as it starts out.  This song, "Stairway To Heaven", and "Whole Lotta Love" are my favorite songs from this final 1980 tour in Europe.  These are all old classics from the band but they all have something new in the way they were being played at the time.

At the end of "Since I've Been Loving You" Robert Plant says something a little prophetic regarding the tour.  He says, "...it's getting a little bit towards the end, we got one more show after this and then who knows, you know?  Perhaps we'll have to do another one after that one".  But as all Led Zeppelin fans know, they never got a chance to do another one after the 1980-05-07 show Plant mentions.  As the band was preparing to come to the Unites states for the tour they planned John Bonham died.  So the "who knows" part of what he said really rings true sadly enough.

Nobody knew John Bonham was about to die and there would be no more Led Zeppelin as of his death.  The various reunions, most just two to five songs and with other artists sometimes joining in and of course filling in (for John Bonham) were many years later and the final Led Zeppelin reunion and first real concert performance was not until 2007-12-10 or some 27 years later.  They ended the Led Zeppelin legacy right with John Bonham's son, Jason Bonham, replacing his dad on the drums.  Nobody knows what tomorrow has in store for them and Led Zeppelin surely did not know they were playing their second from last show on this night in Munich, Germany.

The band sounds like they were doing an excellent job in their performance in this show.  Robert Plant's voice sounds really good and so does Jimmy Page's playing.  It sounds like it was a really tight show and one that everything just flowed along very smoothly in.  And they were only one show away from wrapping up their 1980 European tour now.  So the next upload (of course) will be of that last show Led Zeppelin ever played with John Henry Bonham.  It was in Berlin, Germany on 1980-07-07.

Mazzy Star: 2000-06-04 Copenhagen, Denmark (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

It's been a while since I have uploaded a Mazzy Star show so here is one requested a while back.  Hope Sandoval, the singer, has a really nice voice and this show sounds a little different than most I've heard of the band so far.  It seem it is more acoustic than electric in the music.

I only became aware of this band, a band that has been around since the early 1990's, after a friend introduced me to a them by requesting a show a year or so ago.  It was a 2012 show I first found and as I was playing it I realized I liked it a lot too.  I liked the diversity in the music, the songs, and just the overall unique sound the band has.  They have an earlier 1960's - 1970's California kind of sound with a mix of other eras of music after that time-frame too.  But they did not sound like a band mimicking previous bands in history and they had their own sound.

So after being introduced to something I liked, I did what I do and found more of their music and liked it too.  This show does sound a little different than what they usually sound like but since it was in my Requests folder I'm uploading it.

The waveform has no audio clipping, brickwalling, or any other bad traits.  The sound is excellent and the mix is too.  The first five tracks are acoustical songs and then the band seems to join in and start playing in  many tracks after that.  But overall, the recording is very well done with no audience interference or noise either.

I was not very familiar with most of these songs and as I looked online to be sure I was naming the tracks right I saw this was a tour that was new for the band.  I believe they had been away for a few short years and this was their return (not specifically this show) with new songs they had written.

This is a mellow (sort of country and sort of San Francisco 1969) kind of music they played this night.  I don't know if I like it as much as some of the other shows I have uploaded or not?  I haven't made up my mind.  But I do like it regardless and I like Hope's voice in the show too.  It is a very clean sounding recording and I found no audible errors (e.g. breaks in the recording, deviation from the steady mix and sound, etc) in the recording when I listened to the show either.

I was unable to locate any information on who the taper was to give them credit.  But to whoever recorded the shows, thank you for an excellent job and for sharing it!

Led Zeppelin: 1970-09-04 Inglewood, CA (FLAC_AUD Master Multi Sources Mix_2 CD)

This is one of my all time favorite Led Zeppelin shows.  Not just because it sounds so excellent but because the band's performance is so incredible as well.  This copy had been requested back about six months ago and I had accidentally moved it over into the "Need To Burn" folder instead of the "Requests" folder I noticed the other day.  So today I am listening to and uploading it all at the same time.

There are I believe seven audience sources for this show in circulation now.  Every label in the world has at some point put out a copy of Live On Blueberry Hill it feels like.  Some are just one of the source recordings, some are mixed sources, and some I really don't know the details on.  But needless to say there are a lot of copies and versions of this concert out there.  I've already uploaded at least three or four with one being the Genuine Masters DVD-A copy here in past years.  This is an excellent-to-superb (superb to me) sounding show!

There really is not a lot more I can say about the show itself other than what I have said in the past.  In this specific Sanctuary 2 CD set, the mix sounds excellent and there is no audio clipping to worry about.  There are a very few tiny spikes on a few tracks but nothing that will cause any problems or anything anyone would even notice without looking at the waveform.  There is no brickwalling done in the recording either.

I lost track of how many sources I heard used before making it to "Whole Lotta Love" which is where I am now.  The source transitions are smooth and the patches are used to fill in gaps other sources didn't get recorded in order to form a more complete show.  For all practical purposes, the whole show is here.  You don't miss any songs and there is even the introduction of the band as the first track which some copies do not have.

I still think my favorite copy is the Winston Remasters A Sweeter Blueberry copy because he did such a wonderful job on the sources he worked on.  I do not know if his copy is any less complete or more complete than this one right at the time.  And as you've already read, this Sanctuary copy is reportedly sourced from masters of the various sources used.

Well, what can you say? This label appears to have set itself a goal to make their releases as complete as possible irrespective on the number of source tapes required to achieve this. This is all great news for the collector! Again, this release utilizes the original mono TMQ tape (or Blimp if you prefer) as much as possible with help from the alternate mono source used recently by Tarantura and what sounds like at least two stereo sources. This means that we get the complete band intro courtesy of the alt. mono tape and where possible in between song patter filled out with one of the two stereo tapes or the alt. mono tape. Pure trainspotting stuff! As with Bonzos-73, the splicing is quite good without a compromise in sound quality. Packaging is in the same format as for Bonzos, again using appropriate pics from the era and commentary from Rey and Lewis/Pallet. Ditto the concluding comments for Bonzo's above. This as complete as you are ever likely to hear this show and this release probably deserves definitive status. (Lord Byron Apr 99"

Collectors may be forgiven for thinking that there is no need for yet another release of this classic title, however they are wrong. Whoever compiled the master for this release went to a great deal of care, trouble and hard work. Using both the mono sources, and the stereo source, a definitive version of the concert has been put together, ensuring that every available minute of the concert is present. Full marks to Sanctuary for this valiant effort. It is however most unfortunate that on the covers they have again ripped off the entry in Lewis & Pallett's CONCERT FILE, and also Luis Rey's CONCERT TAPES, word for uncredited word. This has been released as an expensive limited and individually numbered edition, with the classic TMOQ cover (in full colour)on the card slipcase (Jules McTrainspotter Mar 99)"

I did want to thank "pernod" for sharing this over on R-O and I did take the high quality scans that were in the original 2005 download and crop them to get rid of non artwork borders that were around the edges and then I resized the artwork correctly.
