Journey: 2004-10-16 Tokyo, Japan (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

This Journey show played 11 years ago today is an excellent recording of their Tokyo, Japan show on October 16th, 2004.  This is a very enjoyable show and it has a great mix to it.  The vocals and instruments can all be heard and are balanced well.  This is a very clean sounding show and great performance by Journey.

LINEAGE:

Audacity (to view waveform & fix audio clipping and then to embed metadata/track titles & info, and then to re-encode) > FLAC 8 > TLH (to check for SBE's and create and verify ffp & md5 files) > you

NOTE:
This is not really a remaster even though I'm tagging it as Bootradr Remaster due to some work I did to it.  It helps me find shows I worked on (the clip removal).  No EQ work was done!

Sylph Records has done this on some other Journey shows so it's no surprise to see the audio clipping in the waveform when I was looking.  I went ahead and fixed it with Audacity.

The show has some really excellent songs and sound too.  "Suzanne" is a rare song to hear live and in these shows Deen Castronovo sings a lot of the songs.  He does a great job too.  He is no longer with Journey as many may know and they had to recently replace Deen as drummer unfortunately.  He was one of the few band members the group has had that can actually sing certain songs and sound very Steve Perry like.  So I imagine this will cut down on a number of songs the band plays live now that he is gone.  Journey had scaled back on having Deen sing as often in the live shows anyhow since they made Arnel Pineda the lead singer of the band in 2008.  It was sounding like Deen's voice was not able to hit the notes he was going for after about 2009 in the shows I saw and this 2004 period was only about two years after Journey had him singing some of the songs that were he did best.  And in 2004 Deen sounded really great too on the tracks he sang.

I'm not sure what track 204, Neal Schon's guitar solo, means with the Japanese words Sakura Sakura in brackets.  I'm not sure if this is the song title or if this is a Japanese word that means something.  I'm sure somebody seeing this will know and can hopefully shed some light on this.  I'm just listing it this way since it was on the artwork like this.  It looks like Sakure may represent a surname in Japanese but I am not for sure?

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1972-10-09 Osaka, Japan (FLAC_AUD Source 1_Bootradr Remaster_3 CD)

Tomorrow will be the 43rd anniversary of this excellent Led Zeppelin show in Osaka on the band's 1972 Japan leg of their tour.  I really like this recording and the more I listen to it the more I enjoy it.

The only mistake I made was in the embedding of the metadata on this version I'm uploading now.  Instead of changing the text in the Comments line to read "Bootradr Remaster copy" I forgot and left it stating "Unaltered copy" which is the way I made my first copy.  But most people will never see this I bet anyhow and it's no real problem.

Since the waveform in this recording was very, very low in amplitude I went ahead and used Audacity to Normalize the tracks and make them louder but at the same time I made sure they kept their same audio attributes and quality of sound too.  No EQ work was done at all.

This is really an excellent sounding recording and the show is excellent as well.  The recording seems to keep the same steady mix and volume throughout the entire show from what I've heard.  And I've listened up through "Whole Lotta Love" at this point.  There are some flaws in some areas of the recording of course.  But overall, the recording is at minimal points great and at some points superb with the majority of the show being excellent in my opinion.

The band does "Stand By Me" as part of the encore in the show and it sounds really nice.  The recording had no clipping in the waveform and was so low as I mentioned I raised the volume to make the recording better sounding and at the same time it helps with hearing Plant's vocals better I believe.

I've got to get some more sleep before this morning (already here) creeps up any closer.  I have a busy day and I just wanted to upload this very enjoyable and historic Led Zeppelin show before I tried catching a couple more hours of sleep.

I hope you enjoy the show...

REO Speedwagon: 1983-05-03 Milwaukee, WI (FLAC_SB/Pre-FM/LP_Bootradr Remaster_1 CD)

This is an excellent/superb REO Speedwagon recording from a show on their 1983 tour while in Milwaukee.  I want to try and get a few Gary Richrath shows up over the next few weeks  in memory of his passing away.  He led REO Speedwagon on a rock 'n' roll ride for many years up through 1989 when he was let go.  And on September 13th, 2015 he passed away at the age of 65.

NOTES:
(1) "Bobobo" removed all commercials that were on the LP's and left the Supergroups intro/outtro tracks at the beginning and end of the LP's.

(2) I did not EQ the audio in this project.  The left channel was clipped very badly and the right channel had some light clipping.  So I only made repairs and fixed the audio clipping and balanced the audio channels before normalizing.

As I mentioned the other day in a post, Gary Richrath was not happy with the way REO Speedwagon's music was changing after their album Hi Infidelity (which was the band's catapult from a known band to a superstar status band).  And this 1983 show being shared now is a good example of what Richrath was not happy with.  Even though the classics are still in the show, the new songs many people today still don't know like "Let's BeBop" were being brought in by Kevin Cronin in an attempt to take the band towards the newer 1980's pop and ballads sound.  And Gary did not like this at all.

I really side with Gary Richrath on his dislike of many of the songs REO started putting out after they became a household name.  I liked a lot of them, but some I could not stand and I wondered "what are they trying to do...kill their momentum" back in the days.

Today, I have more appreciation for the songs Kevin was trying to bring into the band in their mid through late 1980's era.  But they still do not compare in most cases to the earlier rock songs the band had been playing and performing live for over a decade in my opinion either.  And the band's album sales also supported Richrath's dislike of the new "trendy" sounding songs too.

REO Speedwagon soon found a balance of both the classic rock tunes as well as the new ones they were bringing into the band.  But Gary was too far gone by this point and he left REO Speedwagon never to return as a member again.  Ironically; the songs that get the most play today by REO Speedwagon in their r live shows and on the radio too are the songs Gary Richrath played on (and many he wrote) and helped cement the sound of when he was with the band for two decades.

This is an excellent-to-superb transfer of the pre-FM LP's via a USB turntable (all digital) and there are very, very few indications of "snap, crackle, or pop" in the recording.  When pops or crackling is seldom heard it's between songs in the quiet parts of the LP.  This LP has been taken care of very well it sounds like.

A special thanks goes to "bobobo" for sharing this excellent LP rip and work.  He's done some superb digital transfers from the original Pre-FM LP's of many REO Speedwagon shows and he has shared each one too.  I really appreciate his help and the work he has done.  Thanks for the help you've been to me specifically "bobobo" in not only information on REO Speedwagon recordings but in other details too in their shows over the last couple of years!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Journey: 1978-09-02 San Mateo, CA (FLAC_SB/FM BX Remaster & Upgrade_1 CD)

What better day to share this huge audio upgrade of this Journey show that occurred 37 years ago today than on its birthday.  This is a big sound upgrade and an excellent LP rip and reworking project my "techtuts" and a small amount of preparing by me.

The real audio work as well as the LP owner was done by "techtuts" and I only tracked the songs, removed the beginning and end LP blank spots, used Audacity to Normalize the Side B audio, and removed one silent gap in "Wheel In The Sky" (after the song was over).  "Techtuts" did all of the audio work and sent me the Side A and B tracks to listen to and finish the easy stuff.

This is the best copy of this show I have heard in the last 20 years.  There are some really poor copies and some that are better sounding as well as more complete too.  There are some mediocre copies too that sound nice.  But this one is far better than any I have heard and you won't even be able to tell it was an LP rip either.

All copies of this show, which was an FM broadcasted show, have an issue I really can't put a name on.  I call it channel fading for lack of the correct terminology.  At points the left channel and/or the right channel seem to drop and rise again in volume.  I'm not sure if all copies of this show have come from the same source?  Maybe it was a source not receiving the FM signal at full signal strength the whole time?  Or maybe it was taken from a cassette that had some head problems or was just old?  And there is always the chance this was an issue in the studio at the time of the broadcast too?  I really do not know.  But the problem is not a show stopping issue like I've heard on some other recordings before.

This recording has great stereo separation and no clipping in the waveform.  And the songs still sound really excellent and I can only hope that maybe there is another source that is an even better upgrade to this one (and the full show) in the future.  But until that day comes around, I have a feeling this may be the best sounding copy thanks to "techtuts" and the work he put into making this available to all of us!

This concert was a benefit concert Journey did for a high school.  It was the Borel Middle School Benefit show and Journey raised $6,000 for uniforms for the school.  Ha!  $6,000 back then probably equates to $60,000 nowadays (just kidding...I have no idea).

I created some artwork for the show back in 2000, but this copy already had the LP artwork too that it came with.  Since the LP artwork isn't really CD artwork comparable for the rear of a CD case I'll include the back cover artwork I created and it is ready to print and add to the back case of any regular size CD case.

I have heard that Monitros Studio had studios in San Francisco and San Mateo, California.  I even looked it up in the past and confirmed it via the web at some point.  This is a show that occurred in San Mateo, California from all the research others and myself have done in past years.  My back artwork does have San Francisco on it however because in 2000 that's where "we" thought the show was performed.

This show has some really cool and more rare Journey tracks too that you do not usually hear very often live.  Songs like "I Would Find You" and "Can Do" are on this copy.  And on the full show, which has the four additional songs but not near as good a sounding recording, "Look Into The Future" was in that part of the show.

The date for this show has been in question also for some time.  Most have settled on September 2, 1978. The setlist is not in any normal Journey concert played type of order either..  When Steve Perry was new in Journey (he joined in 1977 and started performing live around March of 1978), they would start their shows off with a few songs without him singing.  This show is arranged in that same manner.  I believe he comes in on the third song.  The songs are in a random sounding and different order and I'm not sure how the band decided on what was going to be played in this FM radio concert.  But it's a great variety of songs and a mix of the new at the time Infinity LP songs as well as songs from the pre Perry era of Journey.  Of course Perry, like in the live 1978 concerts, sings with Gregg Rolie on most of the tracks he was never on in the studio released LP's before he was in the band.  It really gives them a completely new life too.

As far as information goes, don't be fooled by the song titles on the album (surely a bootleg sold) listed artwork.  It lists songs like "Next" as "Midnight Dreamer" and we know that is not the right title.  It also shows "Of A Lifetime" as being named "Kohoutek" which is a completely different Journey song altogether.

The LP artwork included came from a previous Dime member upload of this same show.  The artwork is in a high enough resolution I have been able to zoom in and see the text.  Ironically, and four years before "Separate Ways" (1982) was ever created as a song by the band, the back artwork from the LP talks of Aynsley Dunbar leaving the band as Journey and Aynsley "...have gone their separate ways..." it states.  In fact, I just recalled this was reportedly Dunbar's last performance with Journey before they replaced him with drummer Steve Smith .

I hope you enjoy the show...

UPDATE:Dime member
"sandpshkr" replied with some local to San Mateo and helpful information regarding the school and possible studio name for the beneficiary (middle school) and studio.  I will research further and see if I can confirm any updates to these and correct them in my post as I research more.  I've already corrected the school name above.  Of course, this update won't be in the text file already uploaded.

Journey: 1978-09-02 San Mateo, CA (FLAC_SB/FM/Studio_2 Source Mix_Bootradr Remaster_1 CD)

This is a great recording of Journey and one of the rarer ones to circulate too.  For many years, I never uploaded this show because all of the earlier copies I had obtained over the years were not that great.  But about two years ago, and I believe it was thanks to a Dime member but I can't confirm that at the time, I was able to get this upgrade.

I tagged this post as "Bootradr Remaster" but it is not a real remastering job.  I just did this because of the work I did do in adding the second source mix as you'll see below.  No audio altering was done to this project.

This was not the complete show though.  However, I took the four missing tracks not in this upgraded copy from the Gypsy Eye label's Look Into The Future bootleg, and in a decent quality recording too, and added them to the end of the show where they belonged.  Gypsy Eye's bootleg release doesn't have the high notes like this Allied Production copy does.  It has a little bit of a "muted" sound in the high frequencies.  But I went ahead and merged them and did not alter anything in the audio.  But the show could use a remastering or EQ job to make it even better sounding.  But it still sounds excellent I think and especially when it is compared to earlier versions circulating.

Mazzy Star: 2012-04-07 Sacramento, CA (FLAC_AUD_Bootradr Remaster_1 CD)

This is an excellent Mazzy Star performance and recording as they were on their tour heading to the Coachella Festival to perform.  I have a video of their performance at the festival, and in fact, it was the first music I ever really heard from the band and what got me hooked on them too.

I'll upload the Coachella Festival video eventually, and even though it is in a lossy format, I like the way it looks after building a DVD of it.  For some weird reason I've never run across before and have been unable to find out why, the DVD version of the show I made cuts off about 90 seconds before the show ends.  I tried fixing it but it will not let me get that last minute and a half of the show to DVD.  The lossy webcast rip it was sourced from, a good quality TS video file rip, plays all the way through just fine too.

I wanted make mention of the site I am finding many of these excellent shows on.  After finding the first shows I got on Dime, I did a little web searching for the Coachella Festival (in Indio, California) video in a lossless format.  And even though I could not find it, my search brought me to The Mazzy Star Fan Forum where there are tons of shows from the band and the band's singer Hope Sandoval.  I've talked a few time via Dime to the administrator of the site and he has been more than helpful and very nice too.  So if you find yourself drawn in like I have been to Mazzy Star's music, the fan forum is the best resource I have come across for information and shows of the band!

There was some clipping in the audio in portions of the show.  The original taper, "Ozwowie", made mention of the audio recording level being a little high because they were unable to monitor it during the show.  "Ozwowie" also said if anyone was interested in cleaning up and reworking the show they were fine with that.

The show already sounded excellent.  But I decided to fix the clipping issue and bring up Hope's vocals a little too.  It was very light EQ'ing I did after fixing the clipping.  In fact, I'm noticing the better vocals but I don't know if anyone else might or not?  It's not that I'm any better at it.  It's just that I've been listening to and working with both copies.

The taper also mentioned it sounded as if the house PA system at the show was a little underpowered for the band's performance.  So the cleaning up made this a better sounding show to me, but it was not any drastic changes that were made and I was really concentrating on the vocals primarily.  The harmonics do not sound like they were effected at all.  I've got both versions, the unaltered and this cleaned up one. So, if anyone's interested in both of them just let me know.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Steve Perry: 2014-05-25 St. Paul. MN (FLAC_AUD Master_Bootradr Remaster_1 CD)

On the same night as the show I recorded and just uploaded of Journey's Dallas performance, Steve Perry made his return to the stage in an Eels concert surprising many.  Most who were surprised were those of us not at the show.  But the lucky people attending the Eels concert, whether they were old enough or not to know who Steve Perry is and was, seemed to enjoy the surprise too.

There are a number of YouTube videos floating around now of that night one week ago today.  But here's something even cooler.  He did it again last night, this time in Washington, DC's Lincoln Theatre.  There is at least one good YouTube 1080i video from that performance I've seen tonight too.  Let's just hope this is leading up to a new Steve Perry release and forthcoming tour to follow.  He still has the pipes and the melody and I am hoping for the the best (a tour)!

This upload I'm making now is of an excellent audience recording of the whole Steve Perry part of the 2014-05-25 show.  However, not knowing or even caring much about the band Eels, I only obtained the Steve Perry part of the show which was the third encore for Eels.  What a treat!  And this sounds so much better than the videos (lossy) floating around on YouTube and similar sites too.  Perry's voice is up front in this very clean master audience recording shared by "captinzander" a few days back.  Thanks goes to them for sharing this recording!

NOTE: I'm not really sure what was meant by the headphones use in "captinzander's" lineage?  They'd mentioned having a short in their good microphones and were unable to use them.  But the headphones part was not explained.

The original 48 kHz/16 bit FLAC files were low on volume and had a few pops/clicks in the audio so I fixed that. That may not constitute a remaster, but I call it that anyhow when work is done on a recording.  No EQ work was done nor needed on this excellent, practically superb, audience capture.

I'm adding the 1080i YouTube HD video below as a sample of the show and NOT this audience recording (that sounds much better and is not lossy audio as the video is).  You may have to change the default 360p/480p standard definition setting to 1080i at the bottom of the video to see it in high definition.   If you've already seen it, well good.  If you haven't, even better!

I hope you enjoy this historical night 'captured by (or in) the moment' ...

Journey: 1982-05-21 Chicago, IL_AUD_Bootradr Remaster V.3_2 CD)

PREFACE:
I uploaded Version 2 of my remastering two days ago. As I was listening to the CD-R's I burned of the show yesterday, I quickly realized the right channel was louder on the source recording and it needed to be balanced.  I just finished up with balancing the channels and it makes a huge difference in sound.  The last four tracks, where the sound changes on the recording, did not need balancing so they were left alone.  Version 1 of my projects I never uploaded because it didn't sound right to me.  Version 2 sounded right through the PC speakers (and was shared here) but it wasn't.  So this is Version 3 and should be the final rendition I make of the show.

This is a show I've had for many years, lost, got other copies of, and eventually found my copy of it once again.  And with all of the copies, it's one I haven't listened to much because I consider it to be good sounding.  While that may sound strange to you, I classify "good" as a step above "poor".

But yesterday, on the show's 32nd anniversary, I started working on and remastering a lossless copy I got from my friend "Tales" a few months ago.  And the results made for a "great" (one step above "good") sounding show.  In fact, it turned out much better than I'd planned.  And just as a reference, here's my grading scale:

Poor = 1 - 3

Good = 4 - 6
Great = 7 - 8
Excellent = 9 - 10
Superb = 10+

LINEAGE:

As I made note of in the setlist, the audio changes in the last four tracks.  I'm not sure what the reason may be for it?  On the first copy of the show I reworked, I amplified (without clipping) the last four tracks as I was wrapping up that project.  But I then went ahead and did audio amplification on each track that needed it using Audacity and made another copy which is this one I'm uploading.  I can't say for sure if the original source I got had any clipping to begin with, but as I was EQ'ing the show, I brought down the master audio levels 2 db and then did the work I did from that point.  I was attempting to clean up tape hiss as well as maintain the high end of the audio and bring out the vocals and instruments better.  And while I'm not claiming this is the definitive copy of this show, it sounds a lot better than what I started with.

If you've ever had one of the copies of this show circulating over the decades, you know it never had excellent sound to begin with.  But I'm pleased with how this job turned out.  I'm always looking for a known generation or better remastering job of any show I have collected.  So if you have an upgrade, please let me know or post it.  But I'm sure this copy should sound better than any of the recordings of this show I've ever heard have.  And the show is complete too!

I hope you enjoy the concert...

Paul McCartney & Wings: 1976-05-03 Fort Worth, TX (FLAC_AUD_Bootradr Remaster_2 CD)

This is an excellent sounding show from the first night of the Paul McCarteny & Wings tour (or so says Paul McCartney) in 1976.  I've had this show for ages but it needed a little work.  It didn't need any type of equalizing though.  It was two files I've had that were not tracked and had very little to almost no information with them.  And since today is the 38th anniversary of this show, what better time to give it a little TLC and share it with others?

The artwork has the first four tracks grouped together as one track.  So needless to say (but I'm doing it anyways), the artwork is not a perfect match for CD 1.

When I was first listening to this show last night, I thought it was a soundboard until I heard the between songs clapping and small chatter.  Whoever recorded this show must have been in the front row because there is very little audience noise at all.  You can hear the audience very well when the songs aren't playing, but during the muic, it is like listening to a soundboard throughout most of the show.  And the mix is great.  Paul McCartney's voice and the instruments are all up front and in your face.

I did not EQ this show at all.  I just made the edits it needed and did the work on making it presentable.  It's obviously been released as a bootleg CD before because their is artwork for it.  And I'm guessing that wherever/whoever I got it from many years ago just took each CD and made a one track rips of each disc.  Why, I have no clue?

Anyhow, this is a great sounding show and something a little different to upload for a change. I hope you enjoy it...

Journey: 1982-04-12 Osaka, Japan (FLAC_AUD_Bootradr Remaster_2 CD)

Here is an excellent sounding show from Journey that was just over 32 years ago.  The only real issue the show had (past tense) was the volume wasn't loud enough.  But I accurately fixed that issue with no audio clipping and it sounds so much nicer now.

I'd planned on doing some other work, such as bringing up Steve Perry's vocals just a little bit, but that is a job that is going to take me a little longer and it's one reason why I didn't upload this show on it's 32nd anniversary too.  It's a future project I will undertake when I feel a little more confident I'm EQ'ing the show correctly.  There are way too many badly EQ'ed shows that get circulated and I don't want this show to become one of them.  Besides, it sounds excellent as it is now anyhow :-)

I'm not sure if doing nothing more than using Audacity to amplify the audio is truly considered a remastering or not?  It is an edit to the audio, so I'm calling it a "remaster".  I did NOT EQ anything in this recording being shared here.  There are a few short tape flip type cuts in the show (maybe 2 - 3), but thankfully, the taper was able to do them without missing much audio from the songs at all.

I've always been impressed by the quality of many of the Japanese recordings as well as the politeness of the Japanese crowds as they see shows.  They do have a tendency to clap along with songs at times, but honestly, that doesn't bother me any.  Especially since the Japanese crowds seem to know how to clap in unison and with correct timing.  I guess the combination of good recording equipment along with polite audiences that show their appreciation of the music between songs makes this recording even better.  Had this show been in America, you'd might have heard a bunch of drunks talking through the whole show.  And that might just have been the taper and their friends too.

This show was one of Journey's shows that were wrapping up their Escape tour in Japan.  I'll be uploading a few more 1982 shows, both from Japan and America, as I get the time.
I hope you enjoy this show...

Survivor: 1997-01-24 South Amboy, NJ (FLAC_AUD Master_Bootradr Remaster_2 CD)

This is an excellent-to-superb recording of what was being called "Jimi Jamison's Survivor" for their short lived tour.  This is Survivor, and even though the name was a little different for the band, people still called them "Survivor".

Thanks goes to (name omitted as of 2013-11-23) for getting this master recording and sharing it with others!  I took the recording shared by (name omitted as of 2013-11-23) of Mark B's master and cleaned it up.  I like the sound of this show and it is a full 1 hour, 44 minutes almost of Survivor with Jamison at this venue in New Jersey back in 1997.

Here is some addition information posted by (name omitted as of 2013-11-23) on this era of Survivor:
This is a "Survivor" show but should actually be billed as "Jimi Jamison's  Survivor" since these shows were the basis of a legal dispute between this version of Survivor and the "real" Survivor (which Jamison is back in now).  Like a good soap opera this tale has many twists and turns!

Whatever the story may be for the short-lived Jimi Jamison's Survivor, this capture is as good as it gets and the show is very entertaining.  It sounds as if the venue isn't very big and the crowd, even though enjoying the show it sounds like, is not very loud.  You got to love that when your recording a show and/or listening to one that is an audience recording.

I primarily brought up the vocals and highs slightly and left the bass side as is.  I used a filter making the environment seem more as if you were there in the recording too.  It was flat sounding on the high end and needed the EQ work as well as the filter to give it this sound that is an improvement.  It sounds much more balanced now and I think you will like it too.  And as always, if anyone's interested in the unaltered master recording, just leave a comment and when I see it I'll upload it here too.  They are both excellent versions but I am confident my mix is more enjoyable and cleaner sounding than the master recording on it's own.

Until next time...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-03-17 Seattle, WA (FLAC_SB_Bootradr Remaster_3 CD)

This is a superb recording of one night of Zeppelin's Seattle 1975 shows that I equalized and cleaned up a little.  I didn't make any drastic changes, but to me, the audio is much better and not over driven on the bass as the original (still superb sounding) EVSD label's copy is.

I know, remastering may be the wrong term in this case.  Call it what you want.  I redid the sound to make it easier on the ears and speakers and I cleaned up some of the external factors too so it can be listened to loud without any over-driven results as best as I could at the time.

I don't often rework already great sounding shows.  But in this case, I did and I believe it helps a lot.  This is one of the best 1975 tour shows in my opinion too.  John Paul Jones' bass is very up front (and clean) in this show.  It sounds as if the mixing board recorded his bass a little louder than usual in this show and it makes for a nice, superior change when compared to many of the 1975 shows.

I can always upload the unaltered EVSD version too if anyone cares to leave a comment and let me know if they want it.

This is one of Page's more "try something new" nights I believe.  He puts some guitar in there that I'm not sure he used in any other shows.  And the songs are played more in a "jam on" style than usual too.  In other words, they run a little (or a lot) longer due to all the improvised playing they add in this show.  The band in in unison this night and they are really tight in playing off of each other.  It was a superb show as well as a superb recording that occurred on this night.  This show is a must have for any Zeppelin fan!

REO Speedwagon: 1981-07-15 Boston, MA (FLAC_SB/FM_Bootradr Remaster_2 CD)

PREFACE NOTE:  I have been trying for a week to fix aome errors on this show.  I really do not know what is causing them and it doesn't keep you from being able to listen to the show.  The primary problem I'm having is there are small, split second audio dropouts between tracks.  The audio can still be heard but the audio's volume level drops at the beginning of the next track for a fraction of a second.  This is NOT a track-at once (TAO) vs. disc-at-once (DAO) issue.  I do not have my software set up to allow 2 second gaps between tracks and these errors are just split second errors too.  They would probably go unnoticed by most people if I hadn't mentioned them.  It bugs me because I like to create perfect projects. But this one is going to have to wait until I can determine what the cause is.  Since this remastered version sounds so much better than the original, unedited version; I'm going ahead and uploading it anyways.  In the future, once I figure the issue out or get new software (which may be the issue), I'll re-upload it here.

Here is a show I recently found of an off-air FM recording of REO Speedwagon's Boston 1981 show.  The person that recorded it must have had issues with receiving the radio station as clearly as one would want to record a show being broadcast.  The sound was good, but it needed cleaning up and remastering of it to remove hiss, the static and pops from the actual transmission over the FM airwaves, and the high's needed to be brought up.  And at the same time, the noise that comes with increasing the high end of the audio in a recording needed to be cleaned and removed.  I spent the morning doing this work and am very happy with the finished project.  It sounds so much better and most of the flaws are not even noticeable anymore.  It's a great recording and the project came out even better than I thought I could make it!

I really enjoyed listening to this excellent era show of REO's.  I like REO's music even today.  But my favorite era of REO Speedwagon music is between 1978 and 1982/83.  They always put on great shows and I've seen (and recorded) them myself many times through the years.

Thanks to "bobobo" for the original upload too!

I hope you enjoy the show...
