Led Zeppelin: 1969-04-27 San Francisco, CA (FLAC_SB/AUD Mix_2 CD)

This is a newer, non label silver CD's set shared in January by "fishey" over on Dime.  It is an excellent-to-great sounding recording too.

There are a zillion different copies of this show out there it seems.  Some are 1 CD, or just one set from the show, and some are more of a complete recording of the show like this one is.  Some do not have songs like "Sitting and Thinking" while others, like this one, do have that track.

I listened to the show late yesterday and really enjoyed it.  I cannot say it is the best copy of the show I have heard as far as sound goes.  But it is right there with a lot of other recordings and it does sound really nice.  There was no lineage given for the recordings used to make this recording.  The first set, or disc 1, from the show has always been a better soundboard recording.  The recording on disc 2 of the soundboard portion is still very nice but it is not as nice as disc 1.  The mix is not as nice I feel.  It is obvious that someone throughout the show was playing with the sound in various places.  And I have to assume that is what got recorded (their edits)?

The audience portion is very clean and flows perfectly when the transitions between soundboard and audience occur.  The levels are kept pretty constant in the changes and the show flows along just fine.  This show is a great show and the band is playing at full Led Zeppelin throttle too.

One thing has always bothered me with most recordings of this show.  With a few exceptions, most recordings have Jimmy Page's guitar in the left channel instead of the right on the stereo track.  I've never seen a photo of Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones flipping sides and playing a show and I'm pretty sure they didn't.  I don't know if the channels have been reverses or switched or just why this is the case.  But you really do not think about it after you start listening either.  The raw, energetic power of the band takes your mind right off of small things like that and the performance takes you away.

There was no audio clipping in the waveform and it looked very nice.  The "issues" in the recording are not just in this one recording and are in all of the copies we've heard over the years.  They aren't terrible or show ruining audio issues either.  Just having this full show alone makes up for anything that may not sound "as good" in the recording and it is a small price to pay.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1973-07-17 Seattle, WA (FLAC_AUD 1st Gen & SB Low Gen Matrix & AUD 4th Gen_3 CD)

It's been a month since I've been able to make any posts.  Due some medical issues and a Christmas time stay at the hospital, I had to take a break from making any posts or even keeping up with new material being shared or circulating.  While things are still ongoing, and hopefully nothing more than a doctor visit and catching up will be involved, I hope to be back uploading new old material again now.  The uploads may be a little sporadic at first but should fall into a regular pattern soon.

This is an excellent show I never have uploaded anything from yet and it's another great job by Winston Remasters.  This show has been one that a good friend requested a while back so I decided to start back my uploading with this requested show first.

I have compared this copy I am uploading with a few other mixes of other soundboard and audience recordings of this show and I truly believe this is by far the best sounding copy of this show.  It is also the second longest copy with the EVSD label copy coming in at two minutes longer.  However, this blows the EVSD mix out of the water and this is a matrix too.

From the way Winston Remasters wrote about this project, and I could be wrong, it sounds like he used the first generation audience recording as the primary audio file and used the soundboard as the secondary source in the matrix of the first two discs.  I may be wrong too (see Winston Remasters Notes below) since he indicates "80/20" and then "SB/AUD" too.  The third and final disc is the second audio source used on its own (no matrix).  Winston Remasters did note this was his first matrix project too.

LINEAGE:
(1a) Disc 1 & 2 Matrix Sources: AUD - external microphone >Tandberg mono reel-to-reel @ 7 1/2 jps-reel master > VHS (1) > matrix remaster & (1b) SB - unconfirmed low gen very clean analog >DAT1> matrix remaster
(2) CD 3 AUD Source: cassette (4) > DAT (2) > PCM > remaster

(3) me > TLH > WAV (to test for lossiness & align sector boundaries) > Audacity (to view waveform, embed metadata/track titles & info, and then to re-encode) > FLAC 8 > TLH (to check for SBE's and create and verify new ffp & md5 files) > you

Winston Remasters Notes (copy & paste):
"First Zep Matrix I attempted. Thanks to Gungywump for the idea ;)
Matrix -  80/20 SBD/AUD  mixed with Samplitude.
Best way to describe the sound - AUD source gave the SBD natural reverb and added Harmonics.
Only cut that remains is between Moby Dick -  Heartbreaker. no plantations..  ALL SONGS ARE COMPLETE.
Dynamics & EQ applied for balance.
"

Bootradr Notes:
I mention above I fixed SBE's (aligned sector boundaries) in this recording.  This was not an error or oversight on Winston Remasters part either.  The last track of each disc had an SBE which really does no damage since it is the last track on each disc.  However, I like to remove the SBE's anyhow.  If someone was to burn the show not following the setlist order below and make another track the final track on any disc then the SBE "could" cause a digital error.  It's not likely this would happen and the tracks might not even fit on discs any other way (I didn't check because I wanted to fix the SBE's anyhow).  This is a real common practice among many people (not worrying about the final track with an SBE) since it doesn't create issues when burned to disc in the same setlist order.  I'm just a stickler for getting rid of the SBE's anyhow.  Again, the way Winston Remasters did it was NOT an oversight or error!

I really like the sound Winston Remasters got out of this show when he finished his work on it.  It is so much cleaner sounding, likely a lower generation copy than the label sources, and it is smooth and clean on both the soundboard and audience sources used.

I'm a little surprised I haven't uploaded this one in the past.  But the good news is there are a lot more like this one, ones that are really awesome sounding and I just haven't gotten to them yet.  So this means there are still plenty of shows/dates I just haven't made it to yet that are left to keep uploading new (old) Led Zeppelin concerts of to this site for a very long time!

The waveform looks perfect in this recording with no audio clipping.  The final CD, disc 3, is all excellent audience audio also.  Like many of the 1973 Led Zeppelin soundboard shows, there is no soundboard audio currently circulating or available for the last disc of the show.  I've often wondered why this is the case on so many 1973 shows.  Were the tapes for the shows not all available, did the label(s) keep them in hope of future releases, who really knows?  But we are fortunate to have an excellent first generation copy to make this a complete show and finish out the concert with a disc three.

I've only sampled parts of the show tonight and it has been at least two years since I have sat down and listened to the whole concert.  But memory and sampling tells me this is an excellent-to-superb sounding recording and it is one any Led Zeppelin fan will likely enjoy.

I'm skipping a more detailed review of the show other than what I've noted already since I want to get this concert uploaded before I go to bed and I remember how great this one sounds.  You be the judge.  And please leave a comment and let me know what you think of the show and recording once you listen.  Feel free to post your review if you'd like in the comments area.

NOTE:  I recommend unzipping the WinRAR zipped files into a short named folder/path name.  Otherwise, if you encounter an error when unzipping the zipped files (and I'm not saying you will), just rename the two zipped files (or the folder you put them in) with a shorter name if you encounter a message or error mentioning anything regarding the path containing more than 260 characters.  I'm not saying this will happen!  But it if it does rename your folder or the zipped files (even just until you unzip them) and you will have no issues.  Every so often a longer name is needed when I describe the contents like I do.  It is a very simple issue to fix if this ever does occur.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1980-06-18 Cologne, Germany (FLAC_SB 1st Gen & AUD Master Matrix_2 CD)

This show is another recent Winston Remasters share of his Live Omega # series of Led Zeppelin 1980 concert projects.

This superb recording is of the band's second show as they opened their final tour in 1980.  This is not a mix of the soundboard and audience sources used like in the previous Dortmund, Germany show I uploaded.  This is a matrix and that means both the soundboard and audience tracks are used for the full show (where audio existed).  When it is a mix one of the sources used (or more than one source) gets used to fill in gaps in another source's audio that is missing.  A matrix is really stacking and synchronizing at least two sources to play simultaneously and that is what the project of this show encompasses.

The band plays a lot better on this second night than they did the previous opening night.  They are much tighter and the show has that energy that just was not as prevalent in my opinion the previous night as they played Dortmund, Germany.

I have not had a chance to listen to this entire Winston Remasters project yet.  In fact, as I make this post I am trying to pick up where I left off earlier this morning.

The sound seems to really be mixed well and with the audience matrix source it gives it a more live feeling too.  I may be wrong and I will have to check this closer, but there may be a slight delay in the synchronizing of the audio too.  I'm not sure if this was reverb added or if the synchronization is just not 100% on?  I can hear this more easily as I am listening to "In The Evening" again.  I had noticed it this morning but was unable to check closer then.  This may have been added on purpose for all I know.  I just know the audio sounds really clean, well mixed, and superb as far as the fidelity of it goes.

This is another recently shared and new Winston Remasters project.  He shared it on Dime a week or two ago as well as his Dortmund Live Omega # 1 project too.  I hope this is an indication he is working on some of the 1980 shows since I really do like the work Winston Remasters does in most cases.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1980-06-17 Dortmund, Germany (FLAC_SB 1st Gen & AUD 1st Gen Mix & Remaster_2 CD)

This is the excellent sounding Winston Remasters copy of the first Led Zeppelin show on their final 1980 tour.  This was the band's first tour since their tour that was cut short by the illness and then death or Robert Plant's son in 1977 as the band played in North America.

This is an excellent sounding recording (and remaster by Winston Remasters) that uses the first generation soundboard as the primary audio source with a first generation audience recording as the patch source in the audio.  Winston Remasters has started back lately on some new releases of the Live Omega # series shows for the 1980 Led Zeppelin concert recordings he has worked on.  There have been some other Live Omega # shows he has put out in the past and I likely have uploaded at least one or two of these other dates/shows in the past.

* TLH CDDA/MPEG test wrongly indicates audio could be lossy but the FA (frequency analysis) and an independent check by my friend "techtuts' prove it is in fact lossless audio indeed!  Not only those details but this was an upload by Winston Remasters himself and he would not be sharing lossy audio we all know.

This show starts off a little rough and then the sound quickly is readjusted by the sound engineers on the soundboard from ShowCo.  But the band is also a little out of whack too in this first show.  Robert Plant is not remembering the song lyrics right or singing the right verses at the right time and Jimmy Page is not playing in the right spots or timing at different times.  It sounds like the whole band is off when it comes to timing really.  They get it all together before the show ends, but it does take a little time.

Since this is the band's first show since 1979-08-11 (10 months earlier) and this was their first tour in three years (last one ending early on 1977-07-24), I have a feeling they just were a little rusty.  A lot had happen in the three years since Led Zeppelin had cancelled the rest of their 1977 tour when the news that Robert Plant's son, Karac Plant, had become ill and died before Robert Plant was able to get back home from the North American tour.

In 1979, Led Zeppelin played four concerts preparing for their 1980 come back.  They played two shows in Copenhagen, Denmark (July 23rd and July 24th, 1979) referred to as the "Copenhagen Warmups" and then they played the two Knebworth Festival shows on August 4th and August 11th, 1979.  It was close to a year later when they played this first show in Dortmund.

As the story goes, the only two band members that really were preparing and practicing and really responsible for the band's 1979 LP Presence were Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.  They responsibly were in the studio and making the music for the album as band members Jimmy Page and John Bonham were running wild with their addictions playing a large part in controlling their life.  There is no doubt that Page had become addicted to heroin at this stage, and it does show in his performances in 1980 as well as later performances in the following years such as the 1983 ARMS performances when he returned for performances for the Ronnie Lane benefit concerts.  Thankfully sometime after this Page was able to get clean.  As for Bonham, he never broke free of his alcohol addiction and he died not long after this 1980 European tour concluded as the band was preparing for their North American tour.  He died from asphyxiation as he passed out drunk and choked to death in his own vomit after a failed practice attempt over at Jimmy Page's home on 1980-09-25 and this officially was the end of Led Zeppelin.  These problems that were ongoing are noticeable in this first Dortmund show I think.  The band still sounds good but they sound far inferior to their normal capabilities too.  The end was drawing closer than they realized.

It is sad to listen to the band's lackluster performances in many of the 1980 European shows we have.  They still sounded great, but they were nowhere near their earlier capacity in the way they played and they had cut their shows way, way back to about 100 - 110 minute shows.  And this was short for a Led Zeppelin performance on average.  It was easy to tell they were not performing at their best here in 1980 I believe.

We've got a lot of shows from the band's two months of touring during June and July of 1980 to compare performances to.  They were getting better as they warmed back up but they were not anywhere near their best as they dealt with problems they all had going on in their personal and semi-private lives as well as their public lives too.

But even after the downfall and end of the great Led Zeppelin occurred, it was just a matter of time before the individual band members would resurface with a fresh and new history to continue on with.  Just very little of the continuation would be comprised of Led Zeppelin reunions.  But thankfully; and due to benefits, awards, and finally in December of 2007 just because they wanted to; there would be a few Led Zeppelin reunions with the remaining band members and with John Bonham's song, Jason Bonham, playing on most of them in place of his late dad.

Overall, I look at the 1980 Led Zeppelin shows as the documented end of one of the greatest bands ever to exist.  It is an excellent documentation of where they were at, both good and bad, at this point and time and I really feel that musically you can hear, both good and bad, where the band was too.

One of the most compelling and greatest sounding pieces of music I feel in the ending shows in the band's documentary of audio is in the song "Stairway To Heaven".  I think that the band plays this song ever so beautifully in most shows.  Since this is the one staple song that everyone has heard of whether they know anything about Led Zeppelin or not, whether they have heard of the band or not, it is fitting that this would be the song that tells the story audibly in their ending.  It sounds like Jimmy Page's solo in this song cries out that they knew the end was coming but not in a bad way.  It has a  tone and just and overall sound to me that is singing out "it has been a great ride" and "thank you, goodbye, and we've enjoyed the ride" I feel.  If this sounds a little nutty to you, just listen to the song and have this thought in mind.  You might change your mind.

On this specific night in Dortmund, Page messes "Stairway To Heaven" up and almost doesn't come in with the solo when he should.  Again, this is a good example of where they were at and the problems they were having.  But on a night such as the 1980-06-29 Zurich show, the song and solo are flawless showing the emotion and fine points the band still had in them.

As I upload a variety of the 1980 concerts (I have not uploaded too many over the years) concerts as I plan to do in the upcoming months, pay attention to "Stairway To Heaven" and see if you cannot understand better what I am saying about the song, the way the band plays it, and it being a perfect staple and story itself in the 1980 ending of rock and roll's number one iconic classic rock story.  1980 was the turning point not only in Led Zeppelin's history but music history all together.  And music would never be the same again after 1980 in so, so many ways.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-02-12 New York, NY (FLAC_AUD Master, SB Master, & SB/AUD Matyrix_9 CD)

I've been browsing this new EVSD release of the show a million and one copies already exist of today.  These releases this time are named after the previously named sets already released not too long ago by EVSD and they're called Flying Circus - 40th Anniversary Edition.

The recording actually sounds excellent-to-superb but so did the previous releases too.  This biggest issue I have with the 9 CD set is the first three discs which are the matrix discs of the audience and soundboard.  When doing a matrix, most people have either learned or know not to press the envelope on volume because when you combine the tracks and then mix then into one track the waveform is going to grow larger.  And I presume this is what EVSD did to this show.  The waveform for the first three, matrix CD's is clipped very badly and the audio in pretty much brickwalled and in the red.  It is exactly the opposite of the way it should have been done and looked.

We can be glad that the last 6 CD's, or the audience recording and soundboard recording discs, are not clipped horribly.  The waveform looks nice and the audio sounds excellent-to-superb.  I'm listening to the stereo audience recording now and it sounds really nice.  In fact, they may be my favorite 3 CD's out of this whole 9 CD set.  Page's guitar and the mix sound superb!

Thanks goes to "ghostface" for sharing this on G101.  I realized after I got it that he got the three separate downloads from Dime posted by "jesusmahdi".  So a big thanks goes to him for the initial share and artwork scans as well.

I'm a little confused why the length of the matrix recording is 4 to 8 minutes shorter than the audience and soundboard recordings of the show.  It seems it would be longer or at least as long as either the audience or soundboard (whichever was longer) recording.

The more I listen to the show tonight I realize the audio really is superb on the recordings.  Even the clipped matrix recording on CD's 1 - 3 really sound excellent and even superb.  They still should not have messed the audio up like that but the sound is not bad and I like the mix.  So we got kind of lucky on this one because I expected the audio to sound a lot worse.  And there are parts that are obviously messed up and it can be heard.  But overall, it is very nice.

I'm not comparing this recording to any of the others I have for 1975-02-12 tonight and I am solely going off of how the sound I am listening to and critiquing it.

I'm not sure who the W.T.H. Twins are but they produced this 9 CD set according to the artwork.  They also produced the recent Fort Worth 1975-03-03 show as well.  I like the audio on the audience master recording, or CD's 4-6, and the mix on those discs.  It really is an excellent stereo recording and mix.  Page's guitar, Plant's vocals, and the rest of the bands instruments are all easily heard and evenly mixed for the show.  The audience recording really sounds a lot like a great soundboard much of the time.

I still think it will be near impossible to ever beat the Definitive Flying Circus DVD-A (real DVD-A) copy of this show when it comes to sound.  It is solely the soundboard recording I believe.  I'd have to listen again to say positively this is the case.  But even if it is patched with a little audience recording, the audio is spectacular.  It's easy to listen to a show like this and say the same thing as you listen.  But I know from my own comparisons in the last year that the DVD-A beats all other copies in my opinion.  I've uploaded the 1975-02-12 DVD-A here in the past so it is available if you want to check it out and compare it yourself.

Even with the clipped audio in the first three disc, this is a very easy to enjoy set of discs and a great show to listen to.  This was when Led Zeppelin was really picking up their steam and starting to play much better shows after a little bit of a rocky start in January of 1975.  Maybe it was being at New York's Madison Square Garden, a venue and city they loved almost as much as the west coast in the earlier years, or maybe it was any number of reasons?  But whatever the reason(s) were, they were on fire and burning through the United States and North America over the next month and a half on this tour for their upcoming LP Physical Graffiti.  And we have the shows to prove it too!  What great shows these were in 1975 in an era we'll never see again but we can relive again and again through shows like this one.

I just learned something as I let the show upload overnight and I went to bed.  Today, I learned that the audience tracks 501 - 503 are lossy.  I wouldn't just claim this without proof normally but the friend that found this out I trust and he wouldn't have messaged me about it if he wasn't sure.  So EVSD put at least the first three tracks on CD 5 on in aq lossy MPEG format it sounds like.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Rush: 2002-10-13 Atlanta, GA (FLAC_SB In House Feed/AUD Master Matrix_3 CD)

At the request of a friend interested in this show, I found it recently on Dime and was able to get a seeder to join in and help me download it.  And it sounds like it is a real gem too!

This is a superb recording of the Rush concert on 2002-10-13 using the in house feed (soundboard) and a master audience matrix production of the concert.

This is the best sounding show I now have from Rush's Vapor Trails tour.  I don't have too many 2002 shows however.  But I imagine as my collection of this tour grows, it will be very hard to beat how greatb this show and the mix in the recording sounds.  I can hear all instruments and vocals perfect as I sample multiple song from each disc via the PC.

Both the in house feed and the audience sources used in the matrix are superb sounding recordings.  And the waveform looks perfect too with no audio clipping.

The in house feed is likely a mono recording like it is in the One Big Victory recording that uses it solely.  Even being a mono mix and not having the stereo audience recording used for a matrix recording like the copy being uploaded now, it is a surprisingly excellent sounding too.  It has a great low end frequency coverage and sounds very clean with great bass.  But of course, this matrix is a much better sounding recording than just the in house feed recording too.

Any Rush fan will enjoy this recording I am sure.  I have not been able to listen to much of the show yet.  I am burning it to disc right now and will be listening very soon.  And I know from the sampling I've done via the PC's Bose speakers, I will not be disappointed with the sound at all as I listen through the digital home theater sound system.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-03-19 Vancouver, BC (FLAC_SB/AUD 3 Sources Matrix_3 CD)

Tonight is the 40th anniversary of this concert in Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum.  And this is a three source matrix that uses the EVSD Snow Jobs soundboard, the EVSD Snow Jobs bonus audience discs, and a 1st generation audience recordings for the matrix job.

As I sampled this show I was thinking it sounded very nice.  But now that I am 75% into preparing it, I'm hearing the flaws in it too.  It still sounds nice but it also has some rough cuts and some synchronizing of the three sources issues that result in an echo effect in some parts of the show.  And that bums me out.

I'm going ahead and uploading it anyhow since I've passed the halfway point.  I decided to upload a matrix copy since I've uploaded a soundboard in the past and didn't want to just upload another soundboard copy.  But if you want a better sounding recording, find the 1975-03-19 soundboard I uploaded in the past or wait for me to upload an audience or another soundboard recording of this show.

Doing a matrix is not an easy task and especially when you're adding a third source.  Besides having to sue the best source, in this case the soundboard, as the base or primary audio source and then build and synchronize from that, it can get difficult.  And the slightest out of sync audio can start resulting in an echo or reverberation sound and that is what we have in various parts of this show.  It is still an enjoyable listen when it is either synchronized correctly or maybe one source is being used.  But it just isn't a good job on the project like I was expecting or thought it would be from the samples I did of a few songs (like "Trampled Underfoot") that were synchronized I guess.

It is always nice to have the extra talk and music that many times gets cut from the straight soundboard recordings.  It fills in the gaps.  But the echo is horrible in many parts of the matrix job and the transitions between the source changes are very rough cuts and not smooth at all.

This recording has too many drastic sound changes to listen to it in a smooth and enjoyable sit down.  And I think the EQ work likely done on it (but not mentioned) also changes throughout the show and that is not something you want to change up unless it is really needed due to drastic changes in the source audio (which this show does not have).

The audio is clipped as well when looking at the waveform.  I appreciate the job attempted on this recording, but I wish I'd listened more before starting the long preparation process of uploading it.  If I had, I would have uploaded either another label's soundboard, a fan remaster of the soundboard, or a straight audience copy instead.

I am actually very surprised the guys who did this work let it out without fixing the problems in it.  The timing is so far off a deaf man could hear it.  And these guys have done some great upgrades to other shows too in the past such as the 1973-05-13 Mobile, Alabama show project they created.  This is a very disappointing and sloppy release I have to say if I am going to be honest here.

I hope you enjoy this recording on its 40th anniversary regardless of its bad review here if you do get it...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-02-13 Uniondale, NY (FLAC_SB_3 CD)

Today is the 40th anniversary of this superb performance and soundboard recording having been made by Led Zeppelin in Unniondale, New York.  And tomorrow, Valentine's Day, will be the 40th anniversary of the next 3 CD set I upload of Zeppelin.

I chose to go with the Godfather label's releases since they sound superb (all the soundboard copies from various labels do too) and they go together.  I'm trying to locate who to thank for the two torrents of these two shows too because they added full high resolution artwork scans, and more importantly, they also did EAC rips of their silver discs to share and included the log files too.

OK, I just found the e-mail of the location I got the show from.  And all thanks goes to "fishey" for the sharing of his silvers of both this show and tomorrow's show too!

What an incredible "Communication Breakdown" version this show has.  Page is on fire with the guitar licks!

Robert Plant announces right before "In My Time of Dying" that in ten days, on February 24th, their new LP Physical Graffiti will be released.  He goes on to say it is ten months late too.  And ironically, Jimmy Page is releasing the new remastered Physical Graffiti with the bonus discs on February 23rd of 2014 (and on time).  You'd think he'd wait one more day and make it a 40th anniversary release.  But I guess you just cannot hold on to excellent music any longer than need be even if it is one extra day.  I wonder what the band would have thought had someone told them 40 years ago this would be happening?  I bet nobody could imagine that.

I still have the 1996-02-13 Page and Plant final Tokyo show I want to upload today (I've already uploaded the Third Eye Productions DL DVD video of it here in the past).  It's also the 20th anniversary of the Steve Perry concert in New Brunswick, NJ, but I only have an mp3 of that show and I hate spreading lossy audio or video around.  It is also the 16th anniversary of the Journey concert at Universal Studios in Florida, and that is a CD-R I will have to find.  My notes say I let a friend borrow it and have not gotten it back.  That would be bad news except I added that note in 2000 and I have three boxes of almost all Journey audio and video disc from the same friend over at my house.  So if I never got it back, I likely know where to find it.

I mentioned all the above shows because I'd like to upload most of them.  However, I have plans tonight and may not get to.  Plus, it will take some time to find and then EAC rip the Journey show that I rated on my list as a 6/9 (meaning it ranges between 6 and 9 in sound quality).  So it may not be the best sounding show anyhow?  But if you are interested in it, just leave a comment or message over on the BBBB Facebook page and I'll be happy to find and upload it when able.

The Page & Plant 20 CD set material I will of course continue uploading even if it Sunday before I can catch up.  Tomorrow is also a busy day for me being Valentine's Day.  And it isn't busy for the reason I wish it were.  I have a band to record as they perform and play for all of those lucky guys and gals with a mate to celebrate with while my love is not in town :-(  So who knows when I'll get what uploaded right now?  But I will get caught up on Sunday if I get behind before then.

Be sure to check out and join in on my Facebook Group.  This is brand new as of 15 minutes ago and not the open Facebook Community site with no messaging capabilities.  In fact, my text file does not even have this link in it because it is uploading right now with the old "community" link.  Join and eave me some comments too.  You can find BBBB on Facebook here: Bootradr's Blind Boot Blog

I hope you enjoy this show..

Led Zeppelin: 1975-02-12 New York, NY (FLAC_SB/AUD Mix_3 CD)

Today is the 40th anniversary of this superb sounding soundboard and audience mix recording of Led Zeppelin's New York Madison Square Garden concert.  I've never really counted how many times the band bounced back and forth to New York's Madison Square Garden on this 1975 tour, but it is a lot!

Ironically, after typing the previous paragraph I heard Robert Plant saying "...this is ah, what we could consider to be the last of the New York concerts.  We got the Nassau County ones,  but we've always dug playing the Garden.  So tonight, we're going to have a really ecstatic one..."

This is the full 3 CD copy of the show and it sounds superb.  It is a mix of EVSD's Flying Circus soundboard release and Jerry Moore's superb master audience recording put together to make a complete show.

There are so many recordings of this show that I don't even really know how many.  Every label just about has put out the soundboard recording with their own tampering of the audio as well as many have put out various source audience recordings too.  A few fans have done nixes too and I imagine I have a matrix or two also but would need to check to verify that.

There really are no bad soundboard recordings of this show since they are all sourced from the same soundboard recording itself.  Some labels have done better jobs than others as is always the case.  But they all sound superb in my opinion.  And the band sounds even better!

Physical Graffiti, the LP they're touring on, still had not been released yet so as I've mentioned in some of the previous and earlier 1975 tour shows I've uploaded, many people are hearing the new songs for the first time.

By this point in the 1975 touring, Led Zeppelin pretty much had their primary setlist, with changes in different shows at times, nailed down and they had perfected their show.  What makes me the happiest about this part of the tour, besides the soundboard recordings that have surfaced, is the fact the band had put "No Quarter" and "Dazed and Confused" in and they remained through the last show in 1975 which was at Earl's Court in London on 1975-05-25.  And if you have never gotten that show's DL DVD I uploaded here a good while back, you have to.  It is one of my top five favorite videos of a Led Zeppelin show and it is pro shot too.  It is a "must have" for any Zeppelin fan!  If it takes you a day, a week, or however long to download it; or if it pushes you to buy a temporary FileFactory account to get it, you just have too.

Not really relevant to this post, but important nevertheless, I will be adding a second file sharing site (or mirror site) this year.  I've always had one but have lost too many of them as they've either been shut down for allowing illegal material on their sites, or as in the case of the old Megaupload site, they were involved in organized crime.  Even though FileFactory isn't the most "free user friendly" and it takes longer to download larger shows, they have been reliable and seem to be enforcing laws many other sites I've had ignored.  Ao they have stayed in business and I haven't lost money by relying on them.

There is one site I am not going to name now that I am watching and keeping an eye on, and if they remain great like they seem to be, I'll eventually add them as a mirror site for extra downloading links making it easier for the free downloaders to get shows faster.  This specific file sharing site is so much more "free user friendly" and they provide very high speed downloads, simultaneous links at the same time, and they don't make you jump through hoops and type in hard to read codes to get a show like 99% of the file sharing sites do in an attempt to try and push impatient people into buying accounts to get what they want.  I look at it this way.  As long as you are patient, no matter if it takes hours or even weeks, this is all being provided to you for FREE.  It cost me having to buy software, file sharing site accounts, and doing a lot of other things to get these shows out to you.  But I enjoy it and I do not mind.  And I never ask for a penny in return because I want to keep things legal, avoid troubles, and make it where others can get what I share and enjoy it.  There are no halos over my head or anything.  I just enjoy making others happy and know how it felt to find a show for the first time and the joy that came with it (and still does at times).  So I'm not asking for anything in return.

I hope you enjoy this show..

Jimi Hendrix: 1970-07-30 Maui, HI (FLAC_SB & AUD Mix_Both Sets_2 CD)

This CD set has been requested by a friend, and I had planned on uploading it a while ago too, so I am doing it today.  This is an excellent soundboard recording that uses an excellent master audience recording to do a matrix of the two sources as well as to patch any missing soundboard parts of the show.

The great thing about this CD set, other than the great work done creating it and the music, is both shows are in it.  Jimi played an early and late show this day (as he usually did) and this is both concerts.  If you've seen the Maui 1970-07-30 DVD, it is from the second set here.

At this point, and really pending any Hendrix family official release some day if that ever occurs, this is the best source we have or likely will ever have if the family never releases the shows.

This was a joint project from people supplying the source material used as well as doing the work and assisting in other ways too.  It's great when fans come together and build quality projects like this one and I'd personally like to thank them all.

Rather than spend a lot of time breaking down the thank you's and talking more about the show itself, I'm doing a copy and paste of the information related to those responsible for making and sharing this show with us.  And to learn more about the show itself, just have a listen and that will teach you more than I can ever say or teach you :-)

Also, be sure to get the DVD I've uploaded here that is a masterpeice created by a fan for fans.  Just use the search box in the top left of the website and enter "1970-08-31" and scroll through the entries it pulls up (sometimes it pulls up non related entries and I cannot figure out why) or just click on the "Jimi Hendrix" link on the right side of the page as you scroll down where the bands are listed in order to see all Jimi Hendrix recordings I've uploaded so far.  And there are a ton left to do.  I've just not gotten around to them yet.  There should be an anniversary of a Hendrix show or two coming up really soon anyhow!

Page & Plant: 1996-02-17 Nagoya, Japan (FLAC_SB & AUDMatrix_2 CD)

This is one of the most superb sounding recordings of a Page & Plant show to have surfaced so far.  It is a matrix recording using the sounboard recording of the show with the audience recording of it too.  This was done by a fan that goes by "Liriodendron".

I first got a silver CD copy of the soundboard for this show around 1999.  I was blown away back then by the quality of the recording.  But this matrix is even a step up from that recording and just that much better!

As I've mentioned in other Page & Plant shows I've shared, this was when the band started playing the songs more "Zeppelin like."  In the earlier 1995 concerts they had way too much orchestra and Middle Eastern music renditions to the songs we grew up loving.  Don't get me wrong.  I like the 1995 Page & Plant shows too, but they were not as good as the ending of that first Page & Plant tour in Japan in 1996 and then the followup tour in 1998 in my opinion.

These songs on this 2 CD set are played much more like Led Zeppelin would have played them.  And I always say it is just too bad they didn't have John Paul Jones playing bass and keyboard (amost a few instruments) and they all started a Led Zeppelin reunion tour then.  But they didn't.  Michael Le, the late drummer at the time, was really on fire and did great "John Bonham style" playing I think.  He could have been used as well as Jason Bonham too I'm sure to have started the reunion tour that never happened.  There was the 2007 reunion show, but a show is not a tour either.

I really wish they had played "No Quarter", one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs, in this show.  But they didn't.  They did add some unique, never played live by Led Zeppelin songs into the mix like "Tea For One" however.

"Liriodendron" did a spectacular matrix job on this recording.  The mix sounds superb as well as the recordings he used.  All thanks goes to him for this CD set (complete with artwork too)!

I hope you enjoy the show...
