Feist: 2017-08-12 Copenhagen, Denmark (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

It's been a while since I've posted a show and this one I'm posting today,
with a temporary 7 day file sharing site, because I love this artist's
voice and music and I'm doing the work needed to properly get it ready to
burn to CD (or play on a PC). This is also the very first 2017/2018 show
I've seen shared from Feist's "Pleasure" tour.

While I am a huge Feist fan, I really am not too impressed with her 2017
release of "Pleasure". It does have some good songs and she does sound
great vocally. But the songs aren't exactly what I was hoping for
musically. Especially after 6 years of waiting for a new release from
Feist.

As always, Feist's music does sound better live when compared to her studio
releases. She shines in her live shows I feel like. I've seen some great
versions of some of the new songs on YouTube. And Feist is the type of
artist that is constantly changing up the songs she sings and keeps them
fresh and interesting. The song never remains the same I guess you could
say.

The waveform looks great with no audio clipping in the recording at all and
plenty of room to work with the audio if you wanted to. The sound is
excellent but it could use a nice mastering to work with the highs and
lows. But overall, it sounds great and is a very enjoyable listen just the
way it is from the master source.

The taper reported it was raining very hard during the concert. I've
sampled the show and haven't really noticed any rain sounding noises. But
I still haven't burned it to disc and listened to it loud through the home
theater system yet either.

Thanks goes to "willer" for sharing this show on Dime on the 20th of
January, 2018. I believe "willer" was the taper but I'm not 100% sure?

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2011-09-09 Santa Monica, CA (FLAC_SB/FM_1 CD)

Today I am starting off the morning by uploading a superb sounding recording of Feist at KCRW's The Village Studio in Santa Monica, California from 2011.  She performed here a number of times through the years (at least since 2005) on a program called Morning Becomes Eclectic.  And this time, in 2011, she was promoting her new release of Metals, her fourth studio album according to the interview.

I really love this recording and a special thanks goes out to "Nibbler" for sharing the recording recently.  I have a lossy video of this session and a few others from Feist's KCRW sessions.  But to hear the audio in so much better fidelity really is great.  I may one day synchronize this audio with the video and make a new DVD of the performance?

The waveform looks excellent and there is no clipping or any work at all done on the audio from the way it sounds (and looks).  The mix is perfect too since it was recorded in the studio on 2011-09-09.  The broadcast over the air on FM radio was not until 2011-10-26.  I guess they didn't want to play the session before the official release of Metals which was on 2011-10-04.

There is no static or off frequency types of noises in this recording that we sometimes hear in FM broadcasted recordings.  Nearer to the end of the recording a little hum can be heard at real low volume from amp feedback or something like that.  But unless you're listening for it, you really don't or won't even notice it most likely.  This is a very clean recording and transfer.

Feist has such a spectacular voice and is such a talented musician I feel.  And she surrounds herself with artists that are cut from the same cloth.  She is my favorite female singer and has been for a number of years now.

I wish these sessions were as long as the concert was when I saw her in November of 2011.  She put on a 1 hour, 41 minute show and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.  The crowd loved her performance too it was obvious.  The show was inside of a very nice theater.  It was a lot different than most of the area outdoor concerts and it had the design and sound that was sharp and clean like you cannot get outdoors.  I believe with her attention to sound, detail, and fidelity, this was not by accident where the show was performed.

I cannot wait until Feist has another new recording and tour and comes through my town again.  I think she may be back in the studio now due to some recent Facebook clips she has posted.  At least I hope that is what she is indicating.  It has been four years almost since her last tour.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2007-04-23 Berlin, Germany (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

This is a superb recording of a Feist show on her The Reminder tour of 2007 and 2008.  I love this show.  The audience recording is a superb one and the show is as well.  This show is almost 80 minutes long but it does fit onto 1 CD with a few seconds left for the CD formatting if you burn it to disc.

Feist played Berlin twice in 2007.  There was this night and then a night in September if I am remembering correctly.  I have the 2007-09-30 show  but it does exist.  It is reportedly another excellent sounding show and I hope a lossless source resurfaces again some dy soon!

The waveform is perfect like the show and has no audio clipping.  I had thought of doing some "fine tuning" on the audio but realized there was no need to.  The mix on it is great with the high end and low end frequencies as well as the quieter and more loud songs coming through brightly and at full range sounding.

I first listened to this show with a new set of headphones I got and it was the perfect show to break the headphones in with.  Being a great set of headphones, I could hear everything crystal clear in the instruments and the vocals too.  I later listened at a lower volume on my home theater system which is having issues with either my Denon receiver or the Boston Acoustic speakers right now.  I don't know what is going on.  But this show sounded superb still and I heard it in more of the normal environment I'd be listening to it in (the home setup).

I cannot say enough good things about this artist.  You likely either love Feist or you don't.  But she has so much talent, with her voice and musical playing talents, and she is so much more enjoyable in my opinion when she's playing a live show.  I like her studio work too but the live shows are ever changing and she is really smart and surrounds herself with other talented musicians with a wide variety of instruments.  Her songs are really home hitting to me too.

It actually took me a little while back when I first heard of her almost a decade ago to have her music grow on me.  But I knew from the first time I saw her on a program on TV I was going to listen to her more and get familiar with her music eventually.  I'm really a classic rock kind of guy and this music is not that.  But it is spectacular I learned the more I listened to her and I am always looking for the shows I missed back before I ever had heard of her.  I've even stooped to getting mp3 copies of a lot of shows because it was all I could find in the time frame before I actually started using torrent sites like Dime to find the quality, lossless shows.

I would highly recommend giving her a listen if you never have heard her voice or music.  Some of her music is more quiet and slower and some is the total opposite.  She encompasses a wide range of music and her songs are not the same exact thing each show as she tours.  She changes the setlist as well as the way she plays a song each night it seems when she plays live.  And her style of guitar playing, the actual sound she gets on her electric and acoustic guitars, is a unique style and sound of its own.  Having heard her talk in various interviews she loves experimenting and changing things as well as getting raw, unorthodox sounds and beats from herself as well as her band members.  I cannot wait until she finally makes a new album because she has become my favorite female artist  over the years with the voice of an angel and it moves me honestly.

A very special thanks goes to "fant30" for sharing this show over on Dime recently!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2007-05-10 Santa Monica, CA (FLAC_SB/FM/Studio 1st Gen_1 CD)

I've been going way to long without my Feist fix!  As I've stated in each post I've made of her music probably, I love her voice and music too.  And this 2007 live FM studio broadcast recorded is a superb sounding and perfect mood setting example of what I wanted to hear this morning.

A special thanks goes out to "Nibbler" for recently sharing this lossless recording at my request.  I have got be honest when I say I don't remember when I even asked him to reseed his copy or if I did?  I've made some requests in posts and forums before and this is the second person who has helped in the last 9 years.  He may have seen my requests for Feist here or I may have PM'ed him on Dime or asked via the Dime Yahoo Group.  Wherever he saw I was asking about this show, he was kind enough to re-post the show again after coming across it and he even sent me a PM letting me know.  And he did a superb job of recording the audio too!

This recording really showcases Feist's beautiful voice and her talent as a singer.  This recording, being a studio live broadcast from the radio station, is more acoustic sounding than the actual songs in a live show would have been.  And it is a nice change too.

I made a small project out of this recording and fixed some errors in the track order.  After finding the live video of this performance and making sure the setlist was correctly oriented, I used Normalize in Audacity on the tracks and the outcome sounded like a nice improvement to me.  The original tracks sounded fine too.  But Normalize evened out the audio volume and made for a nice listening experience.  I also made a copy of the recording without any Normalize attributes too as a backup.

Feist was at the KCRW studios for the second time in this broadcast.  The first time, in 2005, was for the Let It Die album release and this time in 2007 was for her The Reminder album which she was starting her touring on the following week she says.  The Reminder is really the release that made he a much more well known name and a Canadian Grammy (Juno Awards I believe they are called) winner too.

I've been waiting since Feist finished up her 2012 touring for a new album or tour but so far I am only seeing hints she may be doing something now via Facebook.  I sure hope so because it was late 2011 the last time she released anything new and I really want to hear and see her in concert again.

The original date reported for this performance in the sharing of this audio was reported as 2007-05-11.  However, the official KCRW website shows this show was on 2007-05-10.  I'm guessing it may have been rebroadcast a day later or maybe the date could have been reported wrong by either "Nibbler" or KCRW FM?  I'm just going by when the radio station said the show was broadcasted live.

There have been a few new shows I have wanted to get uploaded here lately.  One is a show I recorded a week ago today and another is the Led Zeppelin 1975-03-03 newly surfaced Fort Worth, Texas soundboard!  Originally the party sharing the first Led Zeppelin copy I got had requested people wait until after this weekend to share it.  But the next day another person who had also gotten a copy as it was released by EVSD shared their copy on Dime.  So all is fine on uploading it now I'm sure but I just need to get the time and sit down and make the upload.  I'll get around to getting some music uploaded here as soon as I have some time.  Hopefully; this lack of uploads lately will soon be over and I'll be back in full swing.

I hope you enjoy the studio recordings...

Feist: 2005-03-19 Austin, TX (FLAC_AUD_1 CD)

This performance from 10 years ago today is probably the shortest (or one of) performances I'll ever upload.  It is only one track and that's because the artist I like sat in with a band named Kings of Convenience for just one acoustic song (track 10 in the band's set which I did not download).  The sound is excellent-to-superb too (especially when she starts singing).

The song she sat in on was a song she did live in a September 2005 concert later in the year too.  I don't know if the Kings of Convenience wrote the song or if someone else did.  But hearing Feist, in the DVD I uploaded here years ago called The Trabendo Sessions, blows this version away.  She really improved on the song when she did it herself.

This sit in was at Austiin's South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival.  SXSW is a yearly event and it was going on last week and may still be going on now.  Friends of mine played there last week and I was planning on going and recording and photographing their gig.  But after never hearing from any of them leading up to the show, I didn't.

I love Feist's vocals so much.  She has a range and sound, as well as great lyrics in songs too, that can reach deep inside of me.  To me, she's the female version of a Steve Perry as far as vocals and range go.

I wish this had been a concert by her instead of a sit in song.  But I'm not sure she even played at the festival on this specific year?  A lot of artist not performing still go to the festival.  And a ton of artist perform as well with stages all over Austin that range from indoor clubs and rooms to outdoor venues.  And as long as I've been around, I have still never been able to go see a single SXSW event and may never get to since I cannot drive (due to my vision...or lack of it).

John Paul Jones played SXSW too in 2000 just a few days after the Fort Worth show I uploaded the other day.  I may have uploaded that SXSW show here already too in the past?  Had I known I'd be legally blind shortly after the next year's SXSW festival, I'd have made at least a few of them and done some recordings too.

Actually, I just did a little research and discovered that Feist did play the festival in 2005 on May 7th according to the Austin Chronicle.  So there is likely a recording out there of this show I have never come across (especially since it was about 2007 before I first heard of her).

I hope you enjoy the song...

Feist: 2008-03-01 Brisbane, Australia (mp3_AUD_1 CD)

This is one of the rare cases where I go ahead and upload a lossy show.  Since I only have this audio in the 320 kbps mp3 audio format, I have no choice if I want to share it on its 7th anniversary.

I love this artist's music, songs, and especially voice!  Feist has got the melody and vocals of an angel I think.  And this show is an excellent recording of here performance in Brisbane, Australia at the Laneway Festival concert event in 2008.

LINEAGE:
None given > mp3 @ 320 knps (single file) >
me > TLH > WAV (to track and test for SBE's) > Easy Media Creator 2010 Pro (to create tracks for songs) > TLH (to align on sector boundaries) > Easy Media Creator 2010 Pro (to embed metadata/track information and re-encode) > mp3 @ 320 kbps > TLH (to create and verify sfv & md5 files) > you

NOTE:
I don't know if it helps any decoding the files to their native WAV format and then fixing the sector boundary errors (or SBE's) on an mp3 recording?  But since some of you will burn this to CD-R, I did it anyways since it definitely won't hurt and it may solve some pops, clicks, and other audio sound issues SBE's cause when put to disc.

SBE's only effect 44.1 kHz/16 bit audio files (or the CD standard) and if you burn this show to disc it's best to have had these removed.  And I assume even though SBE's cannot be worked on in the mp3 format, since the disc burn ALWAYS decodes the audio to the native WAV format before the disc burn, then having fixed the SBE's should help.

Having been compressed into an mp3, the audio will never be at its peak again and it makes it not even worth trying to EQ unless a lossless copy can be obtained.  The show sounds excellent, and Feist's vocals can be heard perfectly too.  But the audio is not perfect and it sounds like the high frequencies were cut too much.  There is not any distortion or any issues like that.  And I thoroughly enjoy listening to the show myself.  If I didn't like Feist's music so much, I'd never be uploading an mp3 copy of her show.

If anyone has a lossless copy of this show or knows where I can get one, please leave a comment and let me know.  I'd be very grateful!

As I mentioned, this is a shorter than normal performance from Feist because she was just one artist at this yearly concert event in Australia.  It is called the Laneway Festival and is held at different times each year in that country.

After researching the festival just now, I learned a little more information I had wondered about but wasn't sure about.  This festival is something that is in multiple cities in Australia each year.  In fact, Feist played the Laneway Festival in Sydney, Australia tomorrow (seven years ago) and she likely played the other city Laneway Festival concerts too.  Man, the research takes more time than the preparation and uploading of these shows sometimes :-)

I found a treasure trove of Feist shows, all in FLAC, that I don't have at a site called MusicZilla.  But as I go to download the shows, I am suspicious of the free offer messages and questionnaires that the site requires completing before allowing the download.  Have any of you ever used MusicZilla or done one of these types of downloads.  If so, please let me know what your experience was.  I'm not going to risk it until I know it is not a problem.  Here's the link of Feist tagged shows (over 400,000 different artist's shows they have) if you want to see what I am talking about.  And thanks for any information because I'd love to get some of these shows I do not have (in FLAC too)!

Feist: 2005-07-XX & 2011-10-05 Bronx, NY (FLAC_SB/FM/Studio)

After the previous upload of Feist's 2011-10-05 WFUV FM visit and performance in the Bronx, I realized both the 2005 and 2011 visits and live FM broadcasts by Feist fit onto one CD-R with 4 minutes to spare.  So here's the fast version of this upload because I don't have a lot of time today.

LINEAGE:

(2) 20005-07-XX livw in in the studio > Roxio Easy Audio Capture > WFUV streaming audio online  > WAV > CD WAV Editor (to create splits) > TLH (to confirm lossiness on tracks 1 & 2 and pad track 2) > Audacity (to embed metadata/song titles and info into files, amplify +2.6 db without clipping, and to encode) > FLAC 6 > TLH (to reconfirm project is error free and to create and verify md5 & ffp files)

(3) NOTE:
I've added both shows to the CD project and the streaming audio catured from the internet (tracks 1 - 2 on the 2011 recording and all of the 2005 material) is lossy.  I'm leaving it all in the FLAC format since there is lossless material (tracks 3 - 9) in the 2011 recording too and this is a small (-400 MB.) download anyhow.

If anyone has a copy of either of these two studio performances and visits by Feist (or any others) that were recorded over-the-air, please share them with us or leave a comment.  In this day and age of squashed media formats and people who don't care (much less know the difference) all too often, it is becoming harder and harder to find the quality audio out there.

And just as a reminder; the only lossless audio in this upload are tracks 3 - 9 of the 2011-10-05 recording.  All other ,material used for patching and for primary sources came from the streaming audio rip I did in 44.1 kHz/16 bit WAV and it definitely tested and looked lossy (even though a little confusing too...see log file)

If you plan to burn these recordings to disc, I've added each show into it's own folder.  Just add the tracks from the 2005 folder first and then add the tracks from the 2011 show after that and it comes to right at 76 minutes in length and makes a full CD.

I hope you enjoy the music and these interviews from Feist in 2005 and 2011...

Feist: 2011-10-05 Bronx, New York (FLAC_SB/FM/Studio 2 Sources Mix_1 CD)

There really isn't a lot to say about this recording.  It sounds great and is a capture of a live radio station appearance by Feist as she was getting ready for her upcoming Metals tour dates.  There's a lot of talking between the station interviewer and Feist and only four live songs were performed and  broadcasted.  I'm not sure if there is more to this live FM appearance or not (read below for updated info, there is more).  But the beginning of the recording here starts off with the host saying "And that is Undiscovered First, (from the) new Feist record called Metals on WFUV New York..."  I'm not sure if the whole broadcast was not recorded or if the song off of the album (the official release version) was played first and that's why it wasn't included in this project?

Well, I found the 'undiscovered first' song titled "Undiscovered First" last night and it definitely was a live version.  While searching the WFUV online archives of previously recorded performers and performances, I found a first Feist appearance in July of 2005 streaming as well as this 2011 version also.  The only problem is the streaming source is a lossy, mpeg source.  But it does sound very good.

Feist's first time to WFUV, back in 2005, was a better performance because she played multiple songs and had fewer interviews in between.  I'm going to take "Undiscovered First" from the lossy, mpeg internet stream source and add it to this lossless version I had ready to upload here already.  I want this to be a complete set so I patched the two to create that.

LINEAGE:
2014-07-03 (lossless source tracks 3 - 9): No lineage given > me > TLH (to decode as WAV and test for lossiness) > Audacity (to embed metadata/song titles and info into files, amplify +2.6 db without clipping, and to re-encode) > FLAC 6 >

2014-07-04 (lossy source tracks 1 - 2): Additional tracks 1 & 2 lineage >
Roxio Easy Audio Capture > WFUV streaming audio via online (to get intro to program and first song not on original off-air recorded source) > WAV > CD WAV Editor (to create splits) > TLH (to confirm lossiness on tracks 1 & 2 and pad track 2/fix SBE) > Audacity (to embed metadata/song titles and info into files, amplify +2.6 db without clipping, and to encode) > FLAC 6 > TLH (to reconfirm project is error free and to create and verify md5 & ffp files)

I realize the lineage sounds like a broken record with repeats of processes I had to do once I found the missing tracks.  But that's just the way it is.

This is a really excellent sounding recording captured off air by someone (with the exception of the first two tracks).  I wish they'd spent more time letting Feist sing and play music in the studio, but the interviews are interesting too.  Five out of nine tracks are interviews (and longs ones too) or talking and the other four tracks are songs from the radio station's studio live broadcast.

Even though track 1 and 2 are mpeg sourced (aka lossy) audio, I', leaving them as FLAC files just like the regular lossless tracks.  In fact, there are two TLH CDDA Test text files I'm including.  The first one, with the original 7 tracks, shows all tracks are 100% CDDA (or lossless).  However, after adding the first two tracks I found overnight (the lossy ones) to the front of the recording where they belong, the TLH CDDA Test has different results now.  I have no idea what is going on but I'm including both the 'Before' and 'After' text files for anyone interested.

I hope you enjoy the music and the interviews from Feist ...

Feist: 2008-05-27 Milano, Italy (mp3_AUD_2 CD)

Here's another rare exception (mp3) show I'm uploading for two reasons.  First, it's an excellent recording of my favorite female artist.  And secondly, I've only got it in an mp3 variable bit rate format.  It's a high quality show in a a low quality audio format (mp3)!

This girl's got talent and I'll never get tired of her awesome voice!

This is an excellent audience recording I hope to find in a lossless format someday.  As everyone should know, I hate lossy mp3 audio and the problems caused by them.  But sometimes, it's all that can be found.  I'm not going to go on about mp3 vs. FLAC or any of that this time because I'm ready to wrap this posting up and post it.  But if you have a lossless version of this show, please let me know.  I know there is one out there and I know I'll eventually come across it.  But the sooner the better and I'd appreciate any help in locating this show in a high quality, lossless format please!

I hope you enjoy the concert!  Until next time...

Feist: 2007-06-12 New York, NY (FLAC_AUD Master_2 CD)

This is another excellent show I just got and have been hoping to get for a few years.  And it's FLAC and not mp3 too!  Thanks goes to my Germany friend Dierk for sending me this one!  He's helped me out with a few excellent Fesit shows over the recent year or so.  Thanks also goes to "woj", the person who recorded and shared the show originally back in 2007.

Since this show is right at 1 hour, 30 minutes long, and that makes it two CD's if you burn it to disc, I'm breaking it up in the upload the way I am going to burn it.  But you can change the way you want to burn it to disc because there are no fade in/out parts in the show.  So any track you want to end on with CD 1 and start with on CD 2 should work fine.  However, it does sound like Fesit is either taking a break or doing something at the end of track 10, "Now At Last", so I figured that would work for the last track on CD 1.

If you have the ability to over-burn you might could get all 90 minutes onto an 80 minute CD.  But since I'm still not sure if that is a good thing to do, and since many older type players won't play CD-R's that have been over-burned, I'd recommend just making it two CD-R's to be safe.

Since the original taper did Normalize the audio, there really wasn't much I could do with editing it like I'd planned to.  Most times, people do not use Normalize because of what it does to the audio.  But in this case, it didn't ruin it or anything like that and the show sounds excellent.

I'm still learning the correct way to edit audio and not just "EQ it by ear".  But in this case, I couldn't do any EQ work in a timely manner because it would have caused clipping on the WAV files.  I'd planned on trying to bring Feist's voice up front a little more with a light EQ job, but it is no big deal that I couldn't due to the fact it was clipping the audio as I tried.  This is something I need to spend much more time on and even research some more before I could successfully do a project like that.

I'm really happy with the way this show sounds already and using Audacity to bring it too it's current sound without clipping any audio did brighten the audio and Feist's voice a little bit.  At least I think it did :-)  Plus, it's the beginning part of the show where I think here own sound crew may have made to make some adjustments (and they do).

Maybe one day, when I've learned how to better EQ audio, I might make another run at it and see how it comes out?  But there is nothing wrong with the way the show sounds now so it really isn't a necessity either.  Besides; I still have a Feist 2007 Manchester, Tennessee show recording and it is one that needs the kind of work I was going to attempt on this show that really doesn't need it anyhow.

I hope you enjoy the concert!  Until next time...

Feist: 2008-05-24 Amsterdam, The Netherlands (mp3_AUD_2 CD)

Here's another rare situation where I'm uploading a lossy version of a show because it is all I have of it.  This is an excellent-to-superb recording of Feist's concert in Amsterdam a little short of six years ago.  This mp3 version was shared using the variable bitrate (VBR) mp3 method and the songs are all mp3's between 231 kbps and 268 kbps.  At least they're a medium bitrate and not the very lossy 128 kbps or less.  The show, as well as the performance, is excellent sounding.

I've got a number of Feist show, like this one, I hope to find lossless quality versions of some day.  They're out there somewhere, but unfortunately, I didn't really know anything about Feist until around 2006 or 2007.  This girl has the most soulful voice that is so melodic you can feel her words and songs way down inside.

I'm also hoping she has another new release soon.  It's been a little less than three years since she released Metals, so hopefully, help is on the way in the form a new album this year.  She's been a part of a few festivals and even played with Broken Social Scene, a band she periodically joins up with for events and has for many years.  But to date, it seems the more recent shows have all been in Canada and if they were recorded they haven't surfaced anywhere I've seen them yet.

I hope you enjoy the concert!  Until next time...

Feist: 2004-03-03 France (mp3 @ VBR_SB/FM_1 CD)

Everyone should know by now how much I hate mp3 or other lossy codec recordings.  But there are times when that is all you have.  And this is one of those cases.  I'd love to find this show in a lossless format.  So, if you have this concert in a lossless form and don't mind sharing it, please leave a comment and let me know.

This Feist performance was 10 years ago today.  It was recorded live and aired on French FM radio stations and it is called "The Black Sessions".  This is a French program or radio type of deal and I know very little about it.  There are many, many other artists that also did their "The Black Sessions" recordings too.

Only a very limited number of CD's of these "The Black Sessions" recordings are made each time.  Like with many bootleg label releases, except fewer copies are made, they only produce less than 250 to 500 copies of these sessions.  Most of those go out to radio stations to play too.

I like she songs in this early stage of Feist's career as "Feist".  She's been in a few bands starting out as a bass player with hardly any vocal other than backup singing on a few songs (what a waste of talent).  Some of the songs in this session, as session that was done prior to the release of her Let It Die debut album as Feist, are from her days in a band named Broken Social Scene.  Broken Social Scene, still around today, periodically has various artists join and leave.  They aren't leaving because they're unhappy as far as I can tell.  Primarily, and from my understanding, Broken Social Scene is made up of artists that have music careers but join up to make projects.  Feist has joined up with them a few times after starting her own career and plays a show (or song) or two with them.  In fact, and according to her Facebook page, she'll be playing with them again on a Canadian concert event coming up soon.  I hope some people get some good recordings of that show.  But getting back to the point of this paragraph, a few songs in this set are Briken Social Scene songs she plays (with her band of course) and some are songs from her upcoming Let It Die release that followed that year.

I believe Feist is the most talented and awesome female artist of modern music (being between around 2000 through today).  The songs have excellent messages and the music is very well structured with a lot of individual instruments being used by her and other band members she had in 2004.  Her voice is like an angel's voice to me and her way of using it can be humorous, sad, sexy, and very well timed with the music she's singing to.  I love her guitar playing and I believe in this French FM radio broadcast she is likely using her acoustic Martin guitar that has a range and sound that is as intelligent as her own voice is.

Feist's music is something I'm glad I found about 8 years ago.  And if I can ever upgrade the mp3 versions I have to lossless versions that exist of her earlier shows like this one, I'll be uploading a lot more Feist because I love her style, content, playing, and voice.

I hope you enjoy this squashed down mp3 version of this show...

This is an excellent sounding show and there are two songs that I have no clue what their names may be?  I've never heard them in any other Feist show either.  Plus, Feist does "Past in Present" too which I haven't heard live in a long, long time from her.  This is one of her longer shows on this tour and is about 20 minutes longer than her show I saw and recorded in Dallas about four months earlier.  And that was a long show too and one of the best concerts I've ever seen!

NOTE: The very last track in the show had a sector boundary error and I padded it using TLH.  As far as lossiness goes, I'm not sure on this show now?  It will take more in-depth analysis I'm still learning to do to determine if this show has any lossy MPEG characteristics or not?

Trader's Little Helprer (TLH) is not a good tool for true determination of lossy properties unless you see "...100% CDDA..." or "...95% mpeg..." on all tracks
across the board in the test results.  If you get results from TLH like the ones I got in my testing of the files for this show, it's a 50/50 chance it is or isn't lossless material you're working with.  See the TLH CDDA Test text file I created and included in the download for the results.

I'm going ahead and uploading this show since I got it on Dime (which doesn't allow lossy material thankfully but it doesn't mean a few can't get through) and it is reportedly from the mini disc recorder master source.  I know on my own recordings I've made with a Sony MZ-70 mini disc recorder over the years, at times, I've had shows I definitely recorded as 44.1 kHz/16 bit WAV files (lossless/CD quality) show up as possibly lossy in the TLH CDDA test I did on them.  I know for a fact I've never recorded any show using the mp3 (or any lossy) codec.  But TLH, a superb tool for many things, is not a good tool for accurate CDDA/MPEG testing.  Too many factors, such as FM radio broadcasts or EQ work, can cause you to get false results many times in TLH.

Personally, I believe this is likely a lossless (CD quality) show because the person who recorded it would be risking losing their Dime membership if they lied and posted an mp3 version encoded as FLAC.  And since the person claiming to have recorded it posted it, it's not likely they'd do this.  Plus, as I mentioned, I've seen my own recordings with a mini disc recorder do this same thing.  But at the same time, I cannot say with 100% certainty either that this is a lossless or lossy show because I didn't record it and I'm still learning to make that type of determination with Audacity.  Either way, the show sounds good and doesn't have any lossy property sounds I can detect by ear.  And many of the tracks did test as 100% CDDA too while others tested different percentages CDDA and three tested as MPEG with high percentages.  Who knows?  If you are able to confirm or deny if this source is lossless, CDDA quality, please do and leave a comment.  Otherwise, I'll be checking it again in the future once I've learned more on how to do so.  This is another reason I despise mp3 encoded material.  Prior to their "intrusion" into music and audio fields, everything was lossless and no testing needed to even be done!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2004-11-11 Berlin, Germany (FLAC_Master FM BX Digital Source_1 CD)

This is an excellent copy of a 2004 Berlin Feist show in it's lossless format.  This copy has not been circulated (even though the show was broadcast and there are other copies out there) and came from a person who wishes to remain anonymous.  They transferred it when it aired via a cable network and an FM broadcast digitally connected to their PC's sound card.  I've been looking for a lossless copy of this show for some time now.  I truly appreciate this recently shared, digitally transferred copy they shared with me and then said I could share with you.  The friend sharing their recording also noted that they have never shared this with anyone else except a few family members for personal listening (it's not out there in trading circles).  I think the quality of this version is  excellent.

I hope this recording will revive any older Feist torrents (reseeds on torrent sites) of shows that were shared before I was familiar with torrents.  I am always searching for lossless copies of any Feist show to replace my mp3 copies (all I could find at the time).  The 2008 and earlier shows are where I'm "lacking in lossless" versions of shows primarily.  I've got a few, but I missed out on the majority of the 2004 - 2008 lossless shows that have been shared in the past.  And I'd be very grateful for any reseeds or uploads of any Feist shows from any time period because she is an awesome artist with a lot of talent.

Feist, in my opinion, has one of the best voices I've ever heard.  Her music changes too from show to show.  The song never remains the same and I like that.  It makes each show a non-repetitious, new sounding experience each time.  She makes great studio releases, but her true talent is seen and heard through her live shows.

Thanks to the unnamed friend who shared their recording with me to pass along and share with others who may like the same music (or want to try something new they haven't heard)!

I hope you enjoy this show...

Feist: 2012-02-11 Perth, Australia (FLAC_AUD 44/16 Ver._1 CD)

Here's a Feist show from the Perth Laneway Festival last year.  The original files are 96 kHZ/24 bit audio files.  I went ahead and converted them over to the 44.1 kHz/16 bit CD standard for easy burning.

Thanks to "eclect" for recording this show and sharing it on Dime.  It is a good recording, but being outside, some sacrifices obviously had to be made and could not be helped.  Feist's voice and the instruments are all very clean and clear.  The taper did a good job of capturing the show and it sounds just fine.

This is also a short set for Feist and is about 41 minutes long.  That's one hour shorter than her show when I saw her three months earlier.  I'm guessing she was one of the opening acts at the festival.  Actually, I just found some information online saying she was the 12th band to play (out of how many I have no idea).  Six out of the nine songs she played were off of her newly (October 2011 I think) released "Metals" album she was touring on.  So there were only three of her older songs played and they were played with the newer style/sound she had been experimenting with.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2007-10-01 Copenhagen, Denmark (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

This is one of the best sounding Feist audience recorded shows out there.  Her shows almost always promote excellent recording conditions.  The crowd becomes so involved with (or "in to") her music that they keep quiet and listen rather than talk through the shows.  The crowds express their enjoyment of Feist's concerts by cheering, but they do it in between songs and not during them in most of the recordings I've heard.  This show is no exception!

Feist, to me, is the best female singer out there.  Everything from her voice to her and the band's presentation and music styles is nothing short of superb.  Her music (not the song always) can change from show to show.  She doesn't play the monotonous, same sounding, and repetitious thing every night.  The setlist may stay the same for a few shows, but Feist and her band keep the songs from stagnating and they introduce new parts, different ways of singing and playing old parts, and a variety of changes that always make each show like its own new, fresh experience.  And I love that!

This is an superb show as well as an superb recording.  If you haven't heard of Feist or are not familiar with her music, I highly recommend downloading this show and listening to it.

Ha!  I just realized that the photo (randomly picked) of Feist on her guitar below is reversed.  She's not left handed and this picture has obviously been flipped since it looks like she's playing left handed.

Enjoy the show...

Feist: 2004-11-11 Berlin, Germany (mp3 @ 320 kbps_SB/FM_1 CD)

As much as I hate mp3 files, when it's all I can find then I have to use them.  This is one of those rare exceptions I upload a lossy formatted show.  It is an excellent sounding and performed show and is an early look into Feist's career as "Feist" (not the parts she had in other people's bands).

This show, from Berlin, Germany, was on a Monday 8 years ago today.  I love this show and some of the tracks you do not find in other shows (or on officially released CDs either).  It has great sound and was broadcast over FM radio in Germany.

As I was locating the folder and files for this show and looking on the web for any possible artwork or photos of it, I cam across this 320 kbps version of the show.  My earlier version was a 256 kbps mp3 version so I downloaded and used the higher bitrate version (a little less lossy).  However, track 8, "Foolproof", wasn't in that download.  So I copied the track from my 256 kbps version of the show and added it to make the show complete.

If you like Feist, then you will without a doubt love this show.

If anyone has a lossless version of this show, please, please, please let me know.   A lot of my earlier Feist recordings are mp3 formatted because that was all I could find at the time.  But I am always looking for upgrades to anything I have and would greatly appreciate it!  You could share it, we could work out a trade, etc.  Just leave a comment in the comment field and I would happoily contact you as soon as I see it.

Enjoy the show...
