Blondie: 1978-11-12 New York, NY (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

This is an excellent sounding Blondie show from almost 36 years ago and the performance is awesome too.  Blondie was one of the very first artist I really started listening to and looking for more music of.  As a kid, I had everything from Glen Campbell records to The Jackson 5 and other varieties of artists on records.  But as I was getting just a little older I heard Blondie and found a few 8-track tapes and then LP's because I really liked her voice.  This was even before I knew who Journey was, and even though I'd heard of Led Zeppelin, I didn't really know their music yet and hadn't heard it a lot.  We're talking way back when :-)

I lost interest in Blondie's music that came after the late 1980's.  She disappeared and so did a lot of her talent in my opinion.  She seemed to still have a great voice but she didn't seem to be able to use it.  Her enthusiasm and shows seemed to be lackluster and not like these late 1970's shows or the 1980 ones either.  So it is nice to find these old soundboard and audience recordings of Blondie shows from her early days.  I've been able to acquire a nice collection of them due to others who've shared them over the years.  And every so often, like today, I'll pull one up and give it a listen.  And I figured today, I'd go ahead and upload another one too just in case anyone else might like to hear an old Blondie show.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Blondie: 1979-12-31 Glasgow, Scotland (Pro Shot/TV DVD)

PREFACE:  I'd originally shared this DVD back in 2009.  When asked to re-upload it the other day, I said "sure, no problem".  This was something I had no problem doing since it was never officially released.

Well, I should have done some checking prior to uploading it again!  After looking this morning online, I saw that as of November 2010, over a year after my first upload of the show, this was being put on an official release slated to be sold.  Dang!!!  Due to this, I have removed the links here so as to not be breaking the copyright laws and causing myself any problems.  One good thing for those interested in the show is that it can be officially bought and it is the complete show too.

I'm sorry for any problems this may have caused anyone but I cannot afford to be sued or have any legal problems over something this simple (or stupid on my part)!

Here's a Blondie show from New Year's Eve 1979 a few have requested lately.  I'd shared it 5 years ago but a lot has changed (mainly the links and services) since then.

I first really "heard" Blondie in 1980.  I'd likely heard her on the radio prior to that, but I found an 8-track tape of her in 1980 and fell in love with her voice.  I wasn't allowed to listen to rock 'n' roll as a kid so I missed out (back then) on a lot of great artists and had to sneak around to finally start listening to the music I loved.  My dad actually found my first Blondie cassette tape and smashed it against a brick wall.  When he came across the Blondie 8-track tape, he used a Roberts R7 (I think that's the model...been to long ago) reel-to-reel recorder with and 8-track port to record over it.  Today, I own that Roberts reel-to-reel recorder and things area lot different.  I think this is half the reason I love music, and especially the late 1960's - early 1980's music, so much.  The other half is that it was just excellent music!

Enough about me.  Here's the details!

The last song. "Sunday Girl", is only 3 minutes, 6 seconds long and the credits start rolling right before the song fades out and the program ends.  I could've used the standard DVD burner's menu, but instead I decided to just make this a put in and play DVD with no menu.  If I ever build another DVD project out of this I'll add a menu.

There was some confusion the first time I uploaded this DVD as to whether or no it was from the officially released 1979 Apollo Theatre DVD.  It isn't.  That show was from March of 1979, and while I don't have it, the TV program noted that this show was on December 31st, 1979 before it began airing.

I think Blondie and her whole band were at their prime in this time period.  Her voice is flawless and the music, while still having some disco types of sound (I never liked disco and never will) in some songs, was much more rock 'n' roll sounding with guitar, keyboards, drums, and the likes.

I hope you enjoy the superb Blondie performance from almost 35 years ago ...

I left the original uploader's fileset intact and changed nothing.  This is just how I got it.  There is reportedly a "remastered version" out there, but why this recording needed to be remastered is beyond me.  It is excellent/superb sounding and complete.  I think the remastered version was done on an earlier copy, not as pristine as this one I'm uploading, and that was probably why it was done a while back.  Even though I do not have the remastered copy, I do believe this one will be much better that it was at the time it was shared.

I hope you enjoy the recording...

This is a superb sounding show!  The mix is perfect and it sounds like it should be something you'd buy that was an official release.  But it isn't.  It's another great, unreleased show in the sea of material most people will never hear.  And Blondie (and band) put on an excellent show in this soundboard recording from a January night in London 1980 too.

I enjoyed listening to this show just before deciding to upload it here.  I've had it for some time now, but as with many recordings, it just hadn't found its way to my blanks CD-R spindle yet.  But it did today, and I'm glad I finally burned it to CD and listened to it.  The quality is so good on this show that it is easy to get it playing, adjust any sound settings you want on your system, and then not have to mess with it.  I just turned it up, started working around the house, and jammed out.

I hope you enjoy the show...
