Van Halen: 1976-05-29 Pasadena, CA (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

This is a superb recording of a very early, pre first album Van Halen show in their hometown of Pasadena, California.  David Lee Roth even mentions before they start playing "Show Your Love" that they don't even have an album or anything like that out yet.  But it sounds like they may have been in the beginning stages of getting an album going and were going to be on the radio soon too.

This has excellent stereo separation and other than a few hiccups the audio is superb.  A few tracks have early endings like "Eruption" it sounds like.  There is definitely some audio cut from the show and it can be  heard more easily nearing the last tracks on the disc.  This is an enjoyable hour of very early, live Van Halen.

The waveform looks nice and there is no audio clipping in the show.  It is not brickwalled but there really is no room to do any more amplifying either.  If it weren't for the cuts in some songs, and again it's really towards the end, this would be a perfect recording.  There are more songs in this show too than are on the disc.  It became easier to tell this as I listened to the show today.  "Eruption" is cut short and songs like the last one, "I Live With Fools", indicate the show was not over and there was more we just do not have.  And that's too bad considering how great this show sounds.

I originally got this show the first time from my friend David E.  I had gotten it a few other times too over the last couple of years just to compare with what I already had hoping there might be more in the newer downloads that was not in the original share from my friend.  But each copy contains the same exact length of time in music and there are no differences in any of the three sources I have.

Van Halen: 1983-05-29 Devore, CA (Pro Shot 1st Gen DL DVD)

This is a dual/double layer DVD of a Van Halen show of Van Halen's performance at the US Festival in 1983.  This show was just a little less than two years before the official removal of David Lee Roth from the band.  The lineage on this DL DVD project looks like a book below.  But I am copying and pasting it in the lineage area and only fixing some typos.

The video is great quality,  It's slightly blurry but still very enjoyable, and the audio is really great too.  This is a very nice project put together from two video sources an one audio source.

I've not ever put this show to disc yet, but from the viewing via the 29" HD PC screen I've been watching though, this is a very nice project and one most people would enjoy.  This copy is suppose to be an upgraded copy too from what was available before.

Van Hallen: 1977-10-XX Warner Studio Demos 1977 (FLAC_SB/Studio_2 CD)

Here's a great sounding 2 CD 1977 studio rarity of Van Halen.  I got this listed as "Van Halen 1977 Warner Demos".  These studio demos have great stereo sound, and even though I didn't do the remastering or know what was done, it sounds much better than my older (much higher generation) copy of many of these tracks do.  My previous recordings of these tracks couldn't have been cleaned up this good because they never sounded this good :-)
