Page & Plant: 1996-02-13 Tokyo, Japan (Pro Shot or AUD Shot DVD w/ SB LPCM Audio_DL DVD)

This is a superb DL DVD of the Page & Plant Tokyo, Japan show in 1996 as they were getting close to wraping up their world tour that started in 1995.  They still played Australia after the Japan shows, but these shows were some of the last ones as they were finishing off their world tour and they are the best because the band started playing like Led Zeppelin again and were not concentrating so much on the Middle Eastern sound they'd overused in the earlier 1995 shows.  The audience or pro shot video camera used in this concert (and many others too) is a professional camera  and is tripod mounted too.  But the icing on the cake is the soundboard LPCM audio that was used for this DVD project.

This show is superb in my opinion and it was when Page & Plant started playing the songs sounding like Zeppelin again.  Prior to their 1996 shows at the end of he tour, I was really disappointed by how much of the Egyptian Pharaohs (touring with them) sound they'd put into songs and the way they were sounding and being played.  The ruined "No Quarter" with the way they were playing it.  But I imagine they realized this and by the end of the tour, and all throughout the 1998 tour, they played the songs sounding very Zeppelin like.  The Egyptian Pharaohs, the orchestrated music which allowed Page and Plant to play many songs correctly, were a great addition.  But at the same time they took away from Page and Plant's talent when they were overused in their 1995 concerts.  But once a fine balance had been made, and the band started playing songs like Led Zeppelin would have, they sounded superb.  The feeling of the music returned as did the length of songs and the add-on parts and the music sounded much more like it use to up through the 1980 ending of Led Zeppelin.

This is the most Led Zeppelin sounding show I know of from their 1995/96 world tour and it is a must have for any Page, Plant, or Led Zeppelin fan.

This really is a superb looking and sounding show and it contains some of the bands best playing (as well as songs not in earlier shows) for the whole 1995/96 world tour.  This show was almost 12 years before Led Zeppelin returned to the stage on December 10th, 2007 for a true reunion with John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards and Jason Bonham on drums too.

And speaking of drummers, Michael Lee, the drummer for both the 1995/96 and 1998 Page & Plant tours, is incredible.  He is one of the closest "John Bonham sounding" drummers Page or Plant have ever worked with.  He was a hard hitting and accurate drummer and comes closer to sounding like John Bonham than any other drummer I've heard.  Unfortunately, and at the age of 39 in 2008, Michael Lee died from a heart problem just 5 days after his 39th birthday.  Lee was a very accomplished drummer and had played with a number of larger, well known bands in his earlier years.  But after being Robert Plant's drummer during many of his solo tours and studio releases, he then went on to be the studio and live drummer for Page & Plant on their world tours.  He was incredible, and as you'll see in this show being uploaded, he knew how to sound like John Bonham more so than even Jason Bonham, the late John Bonham's son, did at the time.

Had Page and Plant decided to ask John Paul Jones to join the 1995 - 1998 Page & Plant tours and recordings, and with Michael Lee as their drummer, this would have been the prime time to have reunited Led Zeppelin and toured sounding like Led Zeppelin.  But it didn't happen that way.  And in 2007, 11 months before Michael Lee's death, Jason Bonham (sounding very good I might add) was who they used when the real Led Zeppelin members reunited for their one, last concert.  And with Jason Bonham on drums, they sounded great.  I understand too why it was best to use Jason Bonham for their final show and reunion.  Besides keeping it in the family, Jason Bonham had really matured by this time and knew the music as well as anyone (even better than Plant and Page in some cases).  And I am glad they ended things this way and on that note too.

Wikipedia has some interesting information and histroy on Michael Lee if anyone cares to read about him.  And after you see this show, I bet you will find him more interesting and magnificent too.  If so, check out Wikipedia's Michael Lee page here!

I hope you enjoy the superb show...

Jimmy Page: 1988-09-17 Mesa, AZ (Pro Shot DVD)

This is a great, one camera pro shot DVD of Jimmy Page's 1988 Phoenix, Arizona show on his 1988 Outrider LP tour.  The DVD starts off with a Jimmy Page interview, some other interviews, and a cute girl who won the Les Paul guitar and got it signed by Page as she met him before the show.  I've had a copy of this show on DVD for about 7 or 8 years but this is a definite upgrade!

Much of the video on this DVD is MTV reel film and I'm not sure what the story is on the one camera shot/angle video that this DVD is made up of (for the concert).  Actually, and I'm going to watch it again to make sure, I think there may be another camera angle a few times in the show.  But for the most part, it's one camera for the concert I do recall.  I'm guessing here, but I believe the camera angle we have for this DVD is another MTV camera.  I'm not sure if this show was ever aired live or later on MTV, but if it was, I've yet to see it or hear of it anywhere.  I imagine if this is MTV's reel we have here that it was being filmed by them for use on MTV News or something like that where just clips of the show were used in the MTV airing of news or commercials for the concert.  If anyone has any more insight as to the film, please leave a comment and let the rest of us know.

As I mentioned at the beginning, this is an upgrade to the copy I built a DVD of years ago.  The video is better and the already good audio is better too.  Thanks goes to "TTrichardson" for reseeding this show over on Dime.  This version he uploaded of the show has a nice menu and is much better than I was expecting it to be.  In fact, I was worried it wouldn't be as nice as the DVD I built but boy was I wrong :-)

I added some DVD artwork for this show to the upload after I posted it because that's when I found it.  So it is not in the uploaded zipped files.  I do not know if the artwork you can grab below, which is the Cosmic Energy "Raising Arizona" titled artwork, is this uploaded version.  Cosmic may or may not have an LPCM audio version but I cannot confirm this at this time.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1971-08-23 Fort Worth, TX (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

This is a superb performance Led Zeppelin put on at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth in 1971.  This is the very best version of this show I've heard too.  Jimmy Page is on fire this night and he is playing stuff that is spectacular and I don't think he repeated ever again (or before).  At least the majority of it I've never heard since or prior to this night!

While this show's lineage has been remastered, I don't see any signs of any EQ work being done on it by pernod.  Still, it sounds better than my 1990's CD-R trade version of "Hot August Nights" (this same source).  Whatever the reason may be, this is the best version I've heard and even better (a lot) than the unverified master source which I also believe is not as complete as TDOLZ's release.

I added a folder for my artwork scans (gigh resolution) as well as the low resolution, smaller internet downloads too.  The reason I added the low resolution artwork is because one of the back artwork images has the spines/tabs on it for use in a CD case that this type of artwork fits in.  I'd created the same type of thing in the past but cannot find my high resolution scans of what I created with a spine.

Also included in this upload (by pernod originally) are two text files.  One is a reported interview with the taper from the Led Zeppelin publication and web site Proximity.  The other text file has reviews on the show.  I didn't do anything to this pernod remaster other than add some artwork to the file set.

This is an incredible performance and it is a shame that the whole show wasn't recorded.  But I know you will like it if you're a Zeppelin fan...

Paul McCartney & Wings: 1976-05-03 Fort Worth, TX (FLAC_AUD_Bootradr Remaster_2 CD)

This is an excellent sounding show from the first night of the Paul McCarteny & Wings tour (or so says Paul McCartney) in 1976.  I've had this show for ages but it needed a little work.  It didn't need any type of equalizing though.  It was two files I've had that were not tracked and had very little to almost no information with them.  And since today is the 38th anniversary of this show, what better time to give it a little TLC and share it with others?

The artwork has the first four tracks grouped together as one track.  So needless to say (but I'm doing it anyways), the artwork is not a perfect match for CD 1.

When I was first listening to this show last night, I thought it was a soundboard until I heard the between songs clapping and small chatter.  Whoever recorded this show must have been in the front row because there is very little audience noise at all.  You can hear the audience very well when the songs aren't playing, but during the muic, it is like listening to a soundboard throughout most of the show.  And the mix is great.  Paul McCartney's voice and the instruments are all up front and in your face.

I did not EQ this show at all.  I just made the edits it needed and did the work on making it presentable.  It's obviously been released as a bootleg CD before because their is artwork for it.  And I'm guessing that wherever/whoever I got it from many years ago just took each CD and made a one track rips of each disc.  Why, I have no clue?

Anyhow, this is a great sounding show and something a little different to upload for a change. I hope you enjoy it...

Led Zeppelin: 1974-XX-XX East Hampshire, England (FLAC_SB/Studio_3 CD)

Here are some great recordings of Led Zeppelin in the studio at Headley Grange in 1974.  These songs, many with different lyrics than their final and officially released versions, are outtakes and tracks the band was making as they were working on their not yet released Physical Graffiti LP.  These are some of the cleanest versions of these songs I've heard.  And believe me, I've heard and collected many other versions of these songs in past years too.

I really don't have too much information on this 3 CD set.  No label, title, or even any dates were included.  So here it is...

I love the way we get to hear how the songs were coming together in theses recordings and others like them.  The different lyrics to songs not finished yet are just one of the very cool perks as well as the different ways many songs were played too make this a cool collector's item.  And even the talk between the members of Led Zeppelin  as they're deciding how to play songs is really cool stuff to hear.
I hope you enjoy the recordings...

This is the best version we have to date of this concert so far.  I've got a Blu-Ray version with slightly sharper video, but the audio is where that version falls short.  This upload has the best of both worlds with the GM production using the Winston Remasters audio for the soundtrack.  You will not be disappointed in this excellent DVD set I know.

It'll take you a while to download this one, even if you have a paid FileFactory account yourself, but it is very much worth the time it takes.  The first time I got it (around 2006), I downloaded it one link at a time (and there were about 50 links) with whatever file sharing site the sharer had put it up on and I was a free user like many of you are.  So it takes patience and the desire to see it to get it, and if you don't have either, I doubt you'll get it over the next few days.  But if you do have both, within a week (for non FileFactory account holders), you'll have it and be cranking it up and watching it at your home too :-)

I wish there was an easier way (and I'm not going to create a bit torrent site) to share this large download with others, but nothing short of the old fashion snail mail trading ways is going to get it done any faster.  If I see any interest in this download in the comments area, I may be tempted to turn on FileFactory's "TrafficShare" feature which allows paid subscribers (me) to let anyone downloading it to do so as if they had a Premium Account (that's what I have).  By using my monthly allocated bandwidth from FileFactory to do this, you'd be able to download all links at the same time as well as have no captia (type in a code) windows or waiting between downloads.  And you'd be able to download at full speeds.  I usually reserve turning on TrafficShare for friends and the occasional promoting of a specific recording.  But once that bandwidth limit FileFactory allocates has been reached, it's back to one link at a time automatically (they control it) until you get all the 12 links downloaded if you're a free user.  And the file size I broke the links into when uploading them is 900 MB a piece.

I don't make a penny either way, and I'm putting this show up because I like sharing the good stuff with like-minded fans and collectors.  And I hope many of you will also do the same with your Zeppelin friends (NEVER sell it!) too.  So I'll see if there seems to be any interest in downloading this show before I decide whether or not to turn on (and use up my bandwidth) TrafficShare.

Either way and anyway, I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1979-08-04 Stevenage, UK, Knebworth Festival (FLAC_SB & AUD Master Matrix_3 CD)

This is another superb job done by Winston Remasters back in 2005 of a Led Zeppelin show.  This show was Zeppelin's first night at the Knebworth Festival in 1979.  It was on a Saturday, and the following Saturday, 1979-08-11, they played and closed out the festival too.  Sadly, these concerts were a year before Led Zeppelin would lose their drummer, John Bonham, when he died in August of 1980.  Little did the band or anyone else know that the end of Led Zeppelin was drawing near.

LINEAGE:

There are many audience sources for both of the two nights at Knebworth that Led Zeppelin played in 1979.  And believe it or not, the excellent audience source used in this matrix was recorded on a Hitachi GhettoBlaster (aka a boom box).  The soundboard source Winston Remasters worked with was the Watch Tower label "Welcome To The 1979 Knebworth Festival" recording.

And just as their are many audience (and soundboard) versions of these shows, there are a number of DVD sets of the concert too.  My favorite one for this date, 1979-08-04, is Genuine Masters "Knebworth Masters" 3 DVD set.  I may upload it here pretty soon because it is one of the best quality Led Zeppelin captures, both in audio and video, there has ever been.  The 1979-08-11 DVD sets out there are superb too and I may even upload that show at the same time.  Who knows?

Since there seldom any comments made here, I have no clue what anyone wants anyhow.  But with the number of downloads and hits on the site, I can tell there are many who enjoy what is being put up.

I'm going to close off this posting with a request.  My request is that you request something you're interested in.  I DO take requests!  And if I have the recording(s) or can find them, I'm happy to upload them (absolutely NO rap or hip hop though).  Otherwise, I may take a break for a while and start doing something else and come back to BBBB at a later date?  I've collected more shows over the decades than I could ever upload.  So if there is something you're interested in, well, let me know :-)

I hope you enjoy the show...
