Led Zeppelin: 1970-09-06 Honolulu, HI (FLAC_AUD_1 CD)

It was forty-four years ago today that this show happened in Hawaii.  This one has been around on LP, cassette, and CD for a long time and there are (like many other Zeppelin shows) a lot of different mixes, versions, and copies of it floating around.  I narrowed down the top three that sound the best to my ears and I'm uploading one of them now.

I don't have the time today to do the extras like embedding the song titles into the FLAC files.  But the version I have picked here, for the most part anyhow, has a lot of things I like to include already done.  So this is an "as is" upload.  I did add "Bootradr's info" to the files too and that is a copy of this website's information.

I'm in such a big hurry right now that this is all I'm adding.  The video mentioned in the text file was not in the upload, but I do have the video myself.  While I despise lossy video, there was a 51.7 MB MPEG version of the video I'll leave in this upload.  It originally was in another copy of this show I got, but the lossless version is something I can upload at a later date.  And as we all know, there is not a full video of the show that has ever surfaced.  But we're keeping our fingers crossed it will!

I hope you enjoy the concert...

Led Zeppelin: 1970-09-04 Inglewood, CA (DVD-A_AUD_LPCM_1 DVD)

It can be really difficult deciding which source, label, or flat out sound is the best on shows sometimes.  That is the case with this show here.  In celebration of the 44th anniversary of this show today, I am uploading another superb recording of the concert.  I uploaded one of my favorite (if not my favorite) recording of this show last year and it was titled A Sweeter Blueberry.  But this Genuine Masters DVD-A of the show is right up there with last year's copy I uploaded.  The big difference here is this is a DVD-A.  And of course that means it has a higher and better audio bitrate.  This is an LPCM audio DVD-A and it is excellent sounding and has very nice slide show graphics throughout the concert!

I'm jamming out on this show as I prepare this upload right now.  It really is amazing that fans in the audience were able to record such and excellent sounding audio and that it has lasted this many years and is still being shared today.  There are a few sources in the show that are used.  And I am including the original text file in this upload too because it has a few reviews and information too from Underground Uprising that have been posted.

Since it's getting late in the day and I want to get this uploaded fast, I'm wrapping up this post.  I'll close by saying this is a must have Led Zeppelin show for any real fans!  Genuine Masters is known for their quality too.  I still think A Sweeter Blueberry is likely the very best sounding release of this show.  But you won't be disappointed one bit if you download either of the two copies (out of many more) I've uploaded here so far.

Enjoy the show and take a stroll down memory lane back to 44 years ago tonight...

Ozzy Osbourne: 1981-07-28 Montreal, Quebec, Canada (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

This is an excellent sounding Randy Rhodes era recording of an Ozzy Osbourne show from Montreal in 1981.  I'm not sure, but I do not think this is a complete show.  Unless Ozzy was the opening act, and I doubt he was, this is too short of a concert to be complete.

I also do not know if the low resolution artwork titled "All Aboard" is truly the correct artwork for this specific recording of the show.  The person sharing this show a long time back claims in their lineage they ripped a CD-R of the show, and even though they do not mention the artwork they included, I believe the artwork was an afterthought.  The artwork shows nine tracks and this upload has eleven, it has the song "Mr. Crowley" which is wrong and is actually "Suicide Solution", and it also has the wrong date for the show.  While the artwork shows 1981-07-31 as the date, the real date was 1981-07-28.  And I've got two venues for this show too.  One venue is reported to be St. Denis Theater while the other, and likely correct venue, is listed as the Montreal Forum.

Unfortunately, the final product here is a sloppy package even though the music (the important part) sounds excellent.  The uploader was even very sloppy with their text file, the artwork they used, their lack of explanations in many areas, and just their overall finished project they shared.

It's too bad the whole show isn't here because it is a really nice soundboard.  There are a few crackles and pops (I don't believe this was an LP album however) I noticed.  These may have been caused in the transfer the original sharer shared?  But the audio file's integrity is good and there are no SBE's.  I'd originally thought the audio was going to be clipped because it is loud.  But it wasn't when I looked at the waveform and it really looked nice.  This is definitely one of the best Ozzy and Randy Rhodes era CD's I've heard in regards to audio quality!

I hope you enjoy the concert...

Whitesnake: 1983-02-22 Tokyo, Japan (FLAC_SB/Monitor Mix_2 CD)

This is an excellent sounding recording of the Whitesnake show in Tokyo on February 22, 1983.  This is a recording of the monitor mix and was recorded for or by a band member.  I've had this for some time and I figured some of you out there might enjoy it.

The recording is reportedly from Cozy Powell's cassette tape of the show.  Cozy, the drummer, must have let his copy be copied or somehow let it get out.  Who knows for sure?  I'm sure there is a story there but I'm not sure what it may be.

This is a clean Whitesnake recording and if you are a fan of their music you'll like this recording.  I did notice the audio has clipping all throughout it.  It was very obvious looking at the waveform.  Still, it doesn't crackle or pop or seem to cause any real distortion I can hear.

I hope you enjoy the concert...

Scorpions: 1991-11-14 Rotterdam, Holland, The Netherlands (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

This is an excellent sounding Scorpions show from early 1991 out of The Netherlands.  I've yet to listen to the whole show myself, but I am going to today.  From what I've sampled, it sounds really great and I'm wondering if it might have been an FM broadcast at some point.  All the information I have claims it is a soundboard.  So until I prove differently (if that's even possible) I'll call it a soundboard too.

Thanks goes to "wolfsbane" for the sharing of this show.  He's obviously a big Scorpions fan with the number of show's he has shared in recent years.

I haven't seen the Scorpions play since 1988 I believe.  But I'd love to see them again.  Hard to believe it has almost been 26 years since I've seen them, but it has.

I hope you enjoy the concert...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-02-12 New York, NY (DVD-A_SB_LPCM 96/24_2 DVD + Bonus Video)

As I stated when I uploaded Godfather Records 3 CD release of this show a few years back, "This is by far one of the best sounding Led Zeppelin soundboards to ever surface.  This recording is a perfect, studio quality recording of Led Zeppelin's complete concert at Madison Square Gardens on February 12, 1975."

Well, this is even better.  It is Empress Valley Supreme Disc's two DVD-A of the show and they are true DVD-A discs too.  The AUDIO_TS folder has the 96 kHz/24 bit high quality audio files (.AOB file extension) in it and it isn't just a VIDEO_TS audio files type of DVD-A.  Don't worry if this makes no sense to you.  Just know this is better!  And the photographs used as a slideshow during the concert's audio being listened to are great too.

True DVD-A discs like these can be confusing to many people as to how they are suppose to be burned.  Many (if not most) DVD burning programs do not burn these or burn them correctly.  And some people wind up buying programs specifically aimed at burning and making these types of DVD-A discs.  And even when a program does burn the DVD-A and it seems like all is well, many times it did not actually burn the AUDIO_TS folder to the disc since there are seldom any real audio DVD's made like this and the programs don't bother adding the ability to burn the AUDIO_TS folder or its contents.  Do not think that just because you put were able to burn this download to DVD's and and they play that you have it burned right.  You need to look at the disc on a PC, check and make sure the AUDIO_TS folder is on the disc, and be sure there are files in that folder adding up to above 3 GB on each disc.  If so, then the disc has been burned right by your software.  If not, and on DVD 1 as an example, you have only 311 MB worth of files and not 3.9 GB like you should have, you got a lossy burn and not the high quality one you are capable of getting.

I was having the same issues and problems myself as I mentioned in the above paragraph.  I couldn't find a Windows program to burn the true DVD-A disc for free either.  I put the show aside for a few weeks trying to find a way to do this burn for low-to no cost.  That was all until earlier this morning when I thought of an idea I'd had based on working on a similar (but different) problem/project in the past.  So, here is what I tried and it worked just as I hoped it would!  I created two ISO files (or image files); one for each DVD-A.  So instead of having the whole DVD-A structure and files to look at in the original file set I had gotten, you now have just one ISO file for each disc you'll be burning.  And it will burn the AUDIO_TS folder as well as the VIDEO_TS folder and files to your discs and you'll have the files for the high quality audio.  All you need to do is have a program that will burn the ISO files to disc and there are pleanty of free ones out there.  I believe a program called CDBurnerXP, easily located with a Google search, will work fine if you are using a Windows PC.

This is a lot of extra explaining before even getting to the details in this post I know.  But I want to be sure anyone not familiar with  real and true DVD-A burning  knows up front what they may need to do.  It's not hard at all either.  But if you don't do it right it'll either not work or it will be lossy audio you're listening to.

It's my opinion that the bonus video, incorrectly listed as Nassau Coliseum on the artwork, is pro shot.  It has the time code, the person shooting it had more than a home 8mm video camera, the location of the person and their movements were right at the stage, and in one part I believe a photographer is caught in the video standing next to them.  This show likely has more footage!  And for all I know, the whole concert may have been filmed.  Either way, the DVD-A 96/24 audio is superb here and it is one of the best sounding unreleased Zeppelin shows to have surfaced in recent years.

One last comment and note I want to mention is I have reworded this post before posting it.  However, the text file I zipped up and started on uploading this morning is the old, pre proofread, and fast first draft I made just to get the 8 GB of files uploading before I left for a while.  So if you want to copy and paste this post from the web and add it as your test file, it'll be the updated and fixed version of the information on this show and the recordings.

I know you'll enjoy the show...

Even though I like the Big Bother and The Holding Company era of Janis' music better, she still sounds superb here too even competing with the horns at times.  This is a very interesting and likable, however pretty short, concert she put on.

I'm not changing anything in this upload.  I'm not embedding any metadata file names into the songs or doing anything other than confirming its lossless claim and adding a text file of my own to show the results.  The rest was a group project according to the source but I see no mention of any remastering done in the lineage or what exactly was done in the group project?  Plus, the artwork is from the Oh Boy label.  So who really knows?  But it sounds lovely and is a show you won't regret getting if you don't have it.

I hope you enjoy the concert...
