Led Zeppelin: 1975-03-05 Dallas, TX (FLAC_AUD_3 CD)

Yesterday was the anniversary of this show's 40th birthday, and I had wanted to upload the audience copy after the soundboard copy of it, but time ran short and it was not possible.  So I'm uploading it today.

This is an excellent  audience recording of the EVSD Chasing The Dragon copy of the 1975-03-05 Dallas show

Empress Valley Supreme Disc released this Chasing The Dragon copy of show in a limited, 300 copies 6 CD set.  The first three CD's were the soundboard recording and the bonus three discs were an upgraded audience recording.

EVSD has this Chasing The Dragon 6 CD release and then they also put out their Days Confused 6 CD release of the show later.  I was confused until I was able to track down and get help from some friends as to why there were two 6 CD releases as well as two titles for the show from EVSD.

I did learn that EVSD's audience portion of Chasing The Dragon actually has parts of the 1975-02-28 Baton Rouge show used to fill in some music.  But the Days Confused discs of the audience recording are correct and have the Dallas audio only like they should have had in Chasing The Dragon.

Here is a copy and paste of some information "orangeboy" found and shared in relation to the EVSD Chasing The Dragon audience recording:

"EV's Chasing the Dragon used the February 28th show to fill in the two musical gaps and of course didn't note the change. Furthermore, there are sound changes after most of the songs that sound like splices. For all but maybe one instance, they're adjusting the tape and not actually switching to a different tape. It creates a completely unnecessary dissonance. On the plus side, EV has a longer introduction, a little more tape after Kashmir, and some extra tape after Moby Dick."

I had 9 out of the 12 discs associated with the two EVSD 6 CD sets releases when I was posting a remastered soundboard copy last night of the show.  At the time, I did not have the audience discs (4 - 6) from the Days Confused 6 CD set when I started writing the post, but by the time I finished it I had been able to obtain those last three discs too and have all 12 discs to make my comparisons now.

But believe it or not, and after a lot of comparing too, I think the Chasing The Dragon copy , even with a little 1975-02-28 Baton Rouge audio in two songs, sounds better than the Days Confused copy that contains nothing but the Dallas audio.  The Days Confused copy has some right channel noise (distortion) and it may even be more heavily balanced in the right channel too.  There is a distortion or tape problem noise that I do not find on the Chasing The Dragon copy of the Dallas show's audio.  Days Confused has more high frequencies present but the Chasing The Dragon copy is cleaner and doesn't have the sound issue either.

Thanks to "orangeboy" for the information on the differences between the EVSD 1975-03-05 Chasing The Dragon and Days Confused releases!  And thanks to the seeders over on R-O for helping me get the 3 CD audience discs I did not have as I began last night's post preparation.

I decided to go ahead and upload the better sounding Chasing The Dragon audience discs from that copy of EVSD's two titles.  I can, and eventually will, upload the Days Confused bonus 3 discs of that EVSD copy's audience recording.

The artwork for this show has the wrong date too.  As I mentioned in the previous upload of the Grame Remaster of the sounboard of this show, at the time of EVSD's release the exact dates were not confirmed for the two Dallas shows yet.  It was know to either be March 5th and 6th or March 4th and 5th of 1975.  And EVSD has the wrong March 6th date on this March 5th show on their artwork.  I am uploading the full 6 CD artwork for the complete soundboard and audience discs of Chasing The Dragon today, in this upload, also.

I really like the sound in this excellent recording of the show.  I've listened to most of the show via the PC's Bose speakers.  But I haven't given it a full, hi fidelity listen yet or even burned it to disc to listen.  But once I get back home today, I plan on listening from the beginning to end.  And if anything needs to be added to this post, I will go ahead and update it here in this post.

I hope you enjoy this recording on its 40th and one day anniversary...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-03-05 Dallas, TX (FLAC_SB Remaster_3 CD)

Tonight was the second Dallas Led Zeppelin show on their Physical Graffiti tour in 1975 and it was 40 years ago tonight as well.

This is another superb soundboard recording and this one is the Grame Remaster version of the EVSD Days Confused copy.  I uploaded the EVSD copy of the show here two years ago.  Personally, I like the EVSD original copy better than the remastered copy.  They're both superb sounding recordings though.  And this Grame Remaster copy has some really awesome bonus points to it too.  But overall, I prefer the original copy.  I'll copy and paste the notes on the remaster below.

Empress Valley Supreme Disc released this show in a limited, 300 copies 6 CD set.  The first three CD's were the soundboard recording and the bonus three discs were an upgraded audience recording.  The soundboard released discs had micro gaps between the tracks however.  But they were fixed by traders over the years and this Grame Remaster copy also has them fixed.

For some reason I am still trying to figure out, EVSD has this Days Confused 6 CD release of the show and they had a second 6 CD release, again with the soundboard being the first three discs and the audience being the last three discs, titled Chasing The Dragon.  Honestly, this is a confusing duplication I don't understand.  Regardless, they did this and I have got all discs except the bonus three disc (or audience recording) for the Days Confused 6 CD set.

OK, I am getting a little tired of spending more time researching recordings than I do listening to them!  But I did learn that EVSD's audience portion of Chasing The Dragon actually has parts of the 1975-02-28 Baton Rouge show used to fill in some music.  But the Days Confused discs of the audience recording are correct and have the Dallas audio only like they should have in Chasing The Dragon.

I was going to upload the Chasing The Dragon 3 CD audience recording after this soundboard upload, but now I may wait.  I've been trying to get the Days Confused second half of this upload and I think I should eventually find it.  I may or may not upload the audience recording, one that sounds excellent I might add, for this show next?  I'll see how long it takes to get this show uploaded finally.

Well, rather than go back and edit this post again (and I haven't even posted it yet) I'm just adding this update as the files are being embedded with the metadata.  I have the 3 CD, correct audio Days Confused bonus discs 4 - 6 now!  I asked for some help in information and getting a seeder on the recording and the fine folks over on R-O helped me get it.  But believe it or not, I think the Chasing The Dragon copy sounds better than the Days Confused copy too.  The Days Confused copy seems to have some slight right channel noise and it may even be more heavily balanced in the right channel too.  There is a distortion or tape problem noise that I do not find on the Chasing The Dragon copy in the Dallas show's audio.  Days Confused has more high frequencies present but the Chasing The Dragon copy is cleaner and doesn't have the sound issue either.

I love communities where people enjoy the same music and are friendly and want to help others looking for what they have :-)  That's how I can get both show copies and compare them for myself before deciding which to upload.  One thing is for sure.  They both sound better than the TDOLZ label's Live in Dallas copy.  So I should be uploading one of the audience recording of this show in a little while also.  But at the rate I'm getting things done tonight, it may be March 6th before it is finally uploaded.

Thanks to "orangeboy" for the information on the differences between the EVSD 1975-03-05 Chasing The Dragon and Days Confused releases!

The lineage before my obtaining this recording seems a little confusing and possible even wrong in some areas.  But I'm adding it like it was described anyhow since I can't be sure.

NOTES (Grame & martin66 additional info copy & paste):
grame
*The remaster involved the following:
1) the original mix with slight compression
2) a compressed and eq'd feed of the original mix to an impulse of the ambience of an onstage environment
3) a feed to an impulse of the ambience of a japanese concert hall. the low end and high end is reduced on this feed
4) 2 and 3 are then added to 1 and then slightly compressed to glue the whole thing together.
Went easy on the limiting to retain dynamics

Additional comments:
The original silvers contained micro-gaps near the track transitions. Here is what I did to remove them:
- Renaming tracks to comply with etree naming convention
- Removing micro-gaps near the track transitions using EAC's integrated wave editor
- Fixing resulting sector boundary errors with shntool

This Grame Remaster copy does really bring out Plant's voice very well.  But the low frequencies, or bass, sounds better to me on the original EVSD recording.  Neither copy will be disappointing because they both sound superb.  And you're tastes may be different than mine and you might like this copy better?

Led Zeppelin does "The Crunge" again on this night too but they do not play "Heartbreaker" in the second Dallas concert.

The artwork for this show, as well as the tile too, are in reference to the unknown correct dates at the time of the show surfacing.  EVSD picked the wrong date too.  It was unknown if the shows in Dallas in 1975 were on March 4th and 5th (and they were) or March 5th and 6th.  So on this March 5th show, EVSD has March 6th on the artwork incorrectly.  Hence the title Days Confused too.

This posting for this recording has been all over the place and I am just ready to upload the Days Confused Grame Remaster copy now and get it over with.  I'm sorry for the topics jumping back and forth and dealing with EVSD's really messed up way of releasing these CD sets.  I have a lot more information I could carry on with too, but I am not going to do that.  I've had enough and I am ready to post this sucker!

I hope you enjoy this recording on its 40th anniversary...

Rush: 1992-03-04 Atlanta, GA (FLAC_AUD Master_2 CD)

This is an excellent-to-superb audience recording of the Rush concert that took place 23 years ago today.  The taper really did an excellent job and got a very enjoyable recording.  This is a master DAT recording and one I really have not listened to before (even though I've had it for a long time).  But I'm going to fix that today!

I'm still jamming out to the Led Zeppelin 1975-03-04 Dallas show I just uploaded, Zapruder, and once it is done I am putting this Rush show in.  Today is a cold, rainy, and about to be a few inches of ice kind of day and it is perfect to just upload a few shows and listen to a few at the same time.

The waveform looks great on this recording with no audio clipping in it.  I'm really impressed too by how good it sounded through the PC speakers as I was sampling it earlier.  I'm a little surprised I didn't put it to CD and listen to it before to be perfectly honest.

I can't really give a review on something I haven't listened to all the way through yet.  But if there is anything worth making a special note of, I will come back and add it to this post (even though it won't be in the text file enclosed).  If you'd like to read some reviews from other Rush fans that have rated this show and have given it their reviews, go to the following link below and read the Digital Rush Experience website's reviews posted there.  There is almost always good information on the many Rush shows out there.

The Digital Rush Experience - A Roll Of The Dice

From what I've sampled so far, I am sure any Rush fan should like this one!

Dang it!  I just started burning CD 2 and went to update my list and realized I have already burned this one to disc before.  I was reading the wrong line for the show above it that I still had not burned yet.  Oh well, at least now I won't have to lokk for it and I'll have an extra copy to pass along to a friend or something like that :-)

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-03-04 Dallas, TX (FLAC_SB_3 CD)

Today is the 40th anniversary of another superb Led Zeppelin show!  This one was at Dallas' Memorial Auditorium (nowadays Dallas Convention Center reportedly) and it is a superb sounding copy of the Wendy label's release.

This was Led Zeppelin's first night out of two in Dallas after they played Fort Worth on 1975-03-03 (where no recordings that have surfaced yet).  This is one of the better, more superbly mixed soundboards and a spectacular show too.

This show has a rare excerpt, and a fairly long one if I'm recalling correctly, of the song "The Crunge" which Led Zeppelin did not play a lot live.  And Robert Plant, as he often does, tells the crowd to shut up a few times as he's talking.  This show has a lot of really nice perks to it with the sound being one of them.  And I know you should enjoy it a lot.

The waveform looks great for this show and there is no audio clipping either.  I really like the even mix of instruments too.  I'm actually jamming out on this show right now as I prepare it and I love it!

It has a tad bit more hiss in the audio than some other labels left, which is allowing the higher frequencies to be heard better, but it is not anywhere close to be an issue or bad.  And you really only hear it when there is no music playing anyhow.  It's something you soon don't even notice.  But I'm mentioning it because some of the other labels have cut some of the higher frequencies in an effort to remove the hiss (again, that is not even an issue to begin with).

The artwork for this show is very hard to find.  And I found it in a download on the Viva Les Bootlegs site with the download on that site a few years ago.  But unfortunately, the administrator for that site takes the artwork and adds his own label/stamp to the artwork he posts.  He didn't create it, but he sticks a label on it.  I don't like it, but it doesn't really bother me and it is a small price to pay for having artwork to add to the upload.  He runs a great site too and shares a lot of great recordings by the way.  I'm not badmouthing the site at all, so please don't think I am,

If anyone ever scans or finds a high resolution artwork set for this Wendy copy, please feel free to share it and let me know where to get it too.

I'm going to get this show uploading now because I want to kick back on the couch and jam out in the living room to the music rather than be listening from another room as I prepare this upload :-)

This is another one of the "must have" shows for any Zeppelin collector.  So get it if you don't got it!

I hope you enjoy this recording on its 40th anniversary...

Journey: 1983-03-02 Tokyo, Japan (FLAC_SB/FM Master Cassette_2 CD)

This is the very best recording I have heard of this Journey show on their second night playing Tokyo on their 1983 Frontiers LP tour.  I was going to upload their concert from 1983-03-01, their first night in Tokyo on this tour, but it really isn't the best sounding recording and it is an mp3 copy too.  I've been looking for a lossless copy of the 1983-03-01 concert for some time but have not been able to ever find it.

This is a master cassette recording of the show, I believe broadcast live as the concert was happening, that was aired over a Japanese FM radio station.  And it really sounds superb  and is more complete than most recordings of this show out there.

So on it's 32 years ago yesterday celebration, here it is.

The show has some Japanese radio host talk at the beginning and in other parts of it since it was a Japanese broadcast.  The Japanese people, like many American people, really were huge Journey fans.  Even today, Japan has a huge fan base and a lot of the shows we have are a result of Japanese Journey fans recording them.

There are so many copies of this show circulating that it can become confusing.  And this is not the complete show either.  I do think it is the most complete copy however.  But the full concert does not appear to have been broadcast unfortunately.  I may do a project where I add all songs from the various copies that may have tracks not on other copies.  It is a future plan anyhow.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2008-03-01 Brisbane, Australia (mp3_AUD_1 CD)

This is one of the rare cases where I go ahead and upload a lossy show.  Since I only have this audio in the 320 kbps mp3 audio format, I have no choice if I want to share it on its 7th anniversary.

I love this artist's music, songs, and especially voice!  Feist has got the melody and vocals of an angel I think.  And this show is an excellent recording of here performance in Brisbane, Australia at the Laneway Festival concert event in 2008.

LINEAGE:
None given > mp3 @ 320 knps (single file) >
me > TLH > WAV (to track and test for SBE's) > Easy Media Creator 2010 Pro (to create tracks for songs) > TLH (to align on sector boundaries) > Easy Media Creator 2010 Pro (to embed metadata/track information and re-encode) > mp3 @ 320 kbps > TLH (to create and verify sfv & md5 files) > you

NOTE:
I don't know if it helps any decoding the files to their native WAV format and then fixing the sector boundary errors (or SBE's) on an mp3 recording?  But since some of you will burn this to CD-R, I did it anyways since it definitely won't hurt and it may solve some pops, clicks, and other audio sound issues SBE's cause when put to disc.

SBE's only effect 44.1 kHz/16 bit audio files (or the CD standard) and if you burn this show to disc it's best to have had these removed.  And I assume even though SBE's cannot be worked on in the mp3 format, since the disc burn ALWAYS decodes the audio to the native WAV format before the disc burn, then having fixed the SBE's should help.

Having been compressed into an mp3, the audio will never be at its peak again and it makes it not even worth trying to EQ unless a lossless copy can be obtained.  The show sounds excellent, and Feist's vocals can be heard perfectly too.  But the audio is not perfect and it sounds like the high frequencies were cut too much.  There is not any distortion or any issues like that.  And I thoroughly enjoy listening to the show myself.  If I didn't like Feist's music so much, I'd never be uploading an mp3 copy of her show.

If anyone has a lossless copy of this show or knows where I can get one, please leave a comment and let me know.  I'd be very grateful!

As I mentioned, this is a shorter than normal performance from Feist because she was just one artist at this yearly concert event in Australia.  It is called the Laneway Festival and is held at different times each year in that country.

After researching the festival just now, I learned a little more information I had wondered about but wasn't sure about.  This festival is something that is in multiple cities in Australia each year.  In fact, Feist played the Laneway Festival in Sydney, Australia tomorrow (seven years ago) and she likely played the other city Laneway Festival concerts too.  Man, the research takes more time than the preparation and uploading of these shows sometimes :-)

I found a treasure trove of Feist shows, all in FLAC, that I don't have at a site called MusicZilla.  But as I go to download the shows, I am suspicious of the free offer messages and questionnaires that the site requires completing before allowing the download.  Have any of you ever used MusicZilla or done one of these types of downloads.  If so, please let me know what your experience was.  I'm not going to risk it until I know it is not a problem.  Here's the link of Feist tagged shows (over 400,000 different artist's shows they have) if you want to see what I am talking about.  And thanks for any information because I'd love to get some of these shows I do not have (in FLAC too)!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Rush: 1981-03-01 Chicago, IL (FLAC_AUD Remaster_2 CD)

Today is the 34th birthday of this excellent Rush recording from their 1981-03-01 Chicago, Illinois concert.  I decided to upload the fan remastered (EQ'ed) copy since it is speed corrected and shows no signs of audio clipping.

While this is an excellent recording, there are some audio problems sometimes too.  It's not perfect.  I'm not sure if some of the problems were caused by the remastering (or EQ job) of the audio or if they were in the original recording too.  I don't think they were caused by the remastering though.  I believe it is just some audio distortion or echo I am hearing in the songs I've listened to so far (all of CD 2).  It does seem to be a problem throughout most of the show and the best thing I can compare it to sound-wise is an FM radio station tuned just a few kHz off of the radio station frequency it is suppose to be on to get a good signal.

The remastered copy was shared by "Digitalman" on Dime not too long ago, so the thanks go to him.  He didn't include any lineage however.  So other than the mention of speed correcting and EQ work being done, I'm not sure what may have been done.

I went ahead and checked another copy of this show I have listed as the "Definitive Edition" and it has the same errors too.  So it does seem to be in the original source recording too and not from the remastering job after all.  Actually, I'm kind of wishing I'd uploaded the "Definitive Edition" instead as I listen to it now because it does seem to have a slightly better sound even with the problem in the audio and it came from a first generation copy of the audience tapes.  But I've already prepared this Exit...Stage Right copy so I am uploading it,

I hope you enjoy the show...
