Ted Nugent: 1978-12-03 Omaha, NE (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

This is an excellent soundboard of the Ted Nugent concert that occurred 36 years ago tonight.  This was during his Weekend Warrior 1978 tour.  This may have been an FM broadcast I am guessing.  I say this due to the question mark beside "SB" in the information I got on the show.  I can only guess that means someone was wondering if it was an FM stereo broadcast rather than a recording straight off of the soundboard.

The waveform shows more sound (higher decibels) in the left channel.  And knowing that now, I can hear it too.  But it still sounds excellent and it is not a big deal.  In fact, it may be normal for this recording to be that way too?  I was going to level each channel equally but decided to leave it as is.  There is also a tiny bit of audio clipping, but again, it's nothing show stopping or even noticeable if you weren't looking at the waveform.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Pink Floyd: From Abbey Road To Britannia Row - The Extraction Tapes (FLAC_SB/Studio_1 CD)

This is a very interesting and short upload.  It is recordings of alternate, unreleased versions of songs off of the Pink Floyd 1975 Wish You Were Here and 1977 Animals LP's.  The songs are very different sounding too.

The original party that shared this did a great job and did the extras I like doing like embedding the metadata and song titles into the tracks.  So that's saving me some time and made it where I can just upload what they've done without doing much more than checking the files.

I hope you enjoy the recording...

Queen: 1977-12-11 Houston, TX (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

This is a excellent Queen recording coming up on its 37th anniversary.  But rather than wait until December 11th to upload it, I'll go ahead and do it now.

This is reportedly a soundboard recording but I wonder if it is sourced from a video of the concert.  I have the concert's video and it is an excellent DVD too.  It seems the lineage of this "soundboard" is really unknown too.  And being that there is the video, it makes sense this recording came from a lossless extraction of the audio from the video.  That type of thing occurs all of the time and is very easy to do.

Either way, soundboard or video rip, this is an excellent recording and a great performance by Queen in Houston, Texas!

One thing I am unsure of is whether this recording has been EQ'ed or had the audio altered at all.  The md5 and ff[ files that came with the FLAC files ended with "remaster" at the end of the file names.  Yet the text file had no mention of any kind of remastering.  I've got another copy of this show on CD-R's that I'm going to find and compare the two (this one and that one) to see if there are any differences in sound.  The original copy I have had for a long time definitely was never remastered.  I wonder if the high end frequencies may have been brought up in the recording I'm sharing today because of the way things sound?  This recording still sounds excellent though.

The artwork I have for this recording may or may not be the actual or original artwork for this source.  The setlist is the same of course, but it is broken up a little different in the way it is tracked on the artwork.  Originally, this this same file set I'm sharing today had no artwork.  But as I was looking yesterday, I saw some artwork had been added so I got it to use here.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band: 1978-09-22 Boston, MA (FLAC_AUD Master_2 CD)

This is another excellent-to-superb capture and a stereo audience recording of the second night Bob Seger played in Boston in 1978.  Bob Seger has made some great songs over the years and this show proves it.  With songs in his catalog like "Turn The Page" and "Night Moves", they're proof of the talent in lyrical writing as well as musical writing too of the band.  With an old time rock and roll kind of sound, mixed with an almost country style of music, the songs each tell a story of their own.  And this night is a great chapter in the story too.

This recording is so good and it really brings out the instruments in this concert too.  And the same goes for vocals and backup vocals also.
With guitars, horns, keys, and vocals all mixed so well, it really shines.  The natural mix is excellent and no EQ or audio alterations were done either.  This may be the best Bob Seger concert I've heard from his 1970's - 1980's concerts.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Fleetwood Mac: 1979-11-12 Uniondale, NY (FLAC_AUD Master_2 CD)

This is a excellent-to-superb recording of a 1979 Fleetwood Mac show by a taper Steve H (aka fzmoi69).  All thanks go to him for sharing this show!  He recently shared a 1997 Fleetwood Mac show as well and it was another superb recording too.  He's taped a lot of shows, and after talking with him (via messaging) earlier, he said he is uploading his masters.  He said many have been shared before by others but he is uploading the master clones for the best lineage.  As good as the shows I've heard (maybe 4-5) that Steve has recorded are, I really look forward to seeing what else is in store and has been recorded by Steve!

The waveform on this show looks excellent with no audio clipping.  I've not had a chance to listen to this show through the home theater setup yet.  But I know when I do I will be enjoying it because of how excellent of a recording it is.  From the songs I've listened to on the PC I can tell there are times when audience members can be heard speaking.  I'm not sure if they were close to Steve of maybe with Steve?  But all of us tapers know that sometimes there is nothing you can do about that.  Sometimes it is the drunk and loud crowd, sometimes it's the friends who you rode to the show with!  But even with these normal issues the recording sounds excellent as does the mix.

This was Fleetwood Mac's Tusk LP tour.  That isn't one of my favorite albums the band made.  Still, it had some great songs as well as some I really would skip too.  The setlist here has songs from the hits, to the past, and on to the Tusk LP.  So there is a good range of Fleetwood Mac music pretty much from the Stevie and Lindsay era on.  I'm glad they did the song "Oh Daddy" too.  That has been one of my favorite 1970's Fleetwood Mac song ever since I heard it on the first live show I ever got of the band.  It's definitely not a song you hear on the radio and the mix and mood of it just hits an area that makes me think back.  I'm not even 100% sure what the song is about honestly.  But I like it.

I hope you enjoy the show...

REO Speedwagon: 1979-12-28 Chicago, IL (FLAC_SB/FM_2 CD)

Once again, thanks goes to "bobobo" for helping me replace my lost 2 CD copy of this show.  I have two 1 CD copies and had the 2 CD copy.  But the 2 CD copy cannot be found anywhere (where it should be and even where it would bot be expected to be too).

This REO Speedwagon show was a year after the previous Chicago show I just shared and it was in the same venue too.  However, this recording is a lot better sounding and it is much cleaner too.  The sound is superb really and this is the best Chicago 1970's era REO Speedwagon show I've heard.

The previous upload, or the 1978-12-17 Chicago upload I made earlier this morning, is missing some songs and is not the complete concert.  But this recording of the band's 1979 Chicago performance is complete.  Radio broadcasts of concerts many times have a few different versions to be broadcast.  Some are missing a song or two, some may be missing more, and then some are the whole concert.  And fortunately this one is the full concert.

I'm burning this show to disc now so I can listen to it once again on the home theater system.  I believe this copy from "bobobo" is even cleaner and better sounding than the previous 2 disc copy I had and cannot find.  The stereo separation is great on this one too and so is the setlist.  This is another REO Speedwagon show as they were in their prime and it is one you will enjoy and want to crank up loud!

Enjoy the show...

REO Speedwagon: 1978-12-17 Chicago, IL (FLAC_SB/FM_2 CD)

This is an REO Speedwagon in their prime show!  And when you hear the interview before the show, you can make an educated guess as to what they were primed up on too.  Kevin Cronin has always been a talker during shows.  It can get a little irritating when you want him to shut up so the band can start playing again.  But this interview before the show has him talking 100 mph and kind of makes you think "what is he on?"  The band is superb in their playing and the recording has good stereo separation too with Gary Richrath's guitar in the right channel.  This really is a spectacular show.

I was going to upload this show yesterday and I did and EAC rip of my Kodak Gold CD-R copy of it from a 2000 trade I did with a great Zeppelin trader back in the day.  But then I realized something.  There was a 2 CD copy out there and I didn't have it.  I could only find a lossy mp3 copy of it and that just wouldn't work!  I thought about an REO Speedwagon collector/sharing friend I met on Dime, "bobobo", and I messaged him and asked if he had the 2 CD copy.  And when I checked back a little later, he had sent it to me.  So all thanks goes to "bobobo" for this more complete copy of the concert.  It was definitely worth waiting just a short time on the uploading of the concert to get it.

This copy sounds excellent and the only real issue is the last minute or so of the final track.  "Little Queenie" has some kind of audible clicking error at the very end of the show and disc. But so what?  At least it's in the last minute or so of the show.

My 1 CD trade copy from 2000 may be a little cleaner and better sounding.  But it is nothing major enough to worry about.  The 1 CD version is 78 minutes long and this 2 CD copy is 91 minutes long.  The 2 CD copy includes the interview before the show, "Keep Pushin", the complete "Golden Country", and "Little Queenie".  "Golden Country" cuts out on my 1 CD copy and the other tracks just mentioned are not on it either.

I'm including the artwork created by B. Ingham, the original trader I got it from, even though it is for the 1 CD copy.  It's better than nothing and I cannot seem to find any artwork ever created for the 2 CD copy out there on the internet.  The scans I made are in 100, 200, and 300 dpi resolution because I was trying to make some changes and keep unwanted pixel issues from appearing.  I don't know why the pixel issues occur when scanning the artwork?  The artwork looks fine printed on the high quality glossy paper I printed it on in 2000.  But I messed around with the artwork some, primarily changing brightens and contrast as well as the resolution, and decided to just leave the 9 MB of artwork in there so you can choose which you like if you use it.

I hope you enjoy the show...
