This is an excellent recording of Zeppelin's first night in Osaka on
their Japan tour of 1972. This show was 41 years ago tonight! The band played Nagoya the next night and then came back to Osaka on the 9th after a few days of taking a break to resume the rest of the 1972 Japan shows.
This is the best sounding source and the best sounding version/label too
from what I've listened to (10+ different recordings). I'm not sure yet, but I believe this one is considered source 2 out of an unknown (to me right now) number of sources recording this night.

The reason I picked this version/label to upload is because it seems to have a great, clean bass and the highs are still there minus the tape hiss. It's a great job Tarantura did on this show in my opinion. Page's guitar sounds great as well as Plant's vocals. And John Paul Jones' bass sounds very clean and well heard. There's a part in "Dazed and Confused" where the band is transitioning into "The Crunge" in the medley section of the song. It's about 14:31 (+/- a few seconds) into the song. Just as the transition ends and "The Crunge" begins, there is a bass note JPJ hits that just resonates so clearly and clean. Pay attention when you reach this part and I think you'll notice it and like it too.
I'm leaving this file set the same way I got it on this one to expedite things. The original uploader did an excellent job of adding all the important items and using EAC to accurately rip the silver CD's. The text file is very basic, but it is sufficient. The EAC text files are there, and all of the Dancing Geisha (Tarantura's 2 CD title release for this show out of their 14 CD "The Campaign" release for the 1972 October shows release) artwork plus extra "The Campaign" artwork is included too. I didn't add my own text file to this file set like I did on the previous 1972-10-03 show because I'd have to finish typing it (or this) right now and I wouldn't be able to have the show uploading now as I finish this post's preparation.
My plan is to continue uploading each night's show from the Japan 1972 tour here over the next
few days. I'm planning on uploading the best sounding recordings I have from the different sources and labels/recordings. I'm doing a ton of comparing from various parts of each show with the different versions,
sources, and labels I have to determine which sounds the best (in my opinion) for each
date. So, there will be at least 6 nights worth of shows from Kyoto,
Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo just for the month of October as Zeppelin played and bounced back and forth across the country of Japan on this leg of their 1972 tour. I should've
uploaded the 1972-10-02 Tokyo show which is the first night of the Japan 1972 shows already. But I'll upload it here
soon enough. This was the third night out of Zeppelin's six nights played on their 1972 tour in Japan.
I hope you enjoy this show from 41 years ago today...

This is an excellent recording of Zeppelin's second show in Tokyo on their Japan tour of 1972. This show was 41 years ago tonight, and what a show it was!
This is the best sounding source and the best sounding version/label too from what I've listened to. There are 6 known sources (different recordings) for this show and this is considered source 1. I believe I have either 3 or 4 sources myself. So, there are another 2 or 3 sources I haven't heard yet. But any way you look at (or listen to) it, I am betting this first source is going to be the best. This is an excellent recording of an excellent show.

I'm really happy with the way this video turned out in the long run. This show has gone uncirculated due to trying to make it into something I don't fully have the knowledge or time to pursue right now. This show was three years ago tonight.
I'd tried via a number of methods and programs to build this DVD differently, but each way had its problems or drawbacks. I didn't want to use the easier but yet lesser quality with mp2 audio program I have because I wanted to maintain the AC3 audio. But with two other DVD programs that kept the AC3 audio stream, I kept having menu building issues. And the worthless Roxio Media Creator 2010 Pro program kept crashing and would not allow me to add chapters where I wanted them (only 5 minute chapter creation was not grayed out). I got it to work with Adobe Premiere Pro CE5, but I still had issues building the menus. And I still haven't learned how to accurately create a matrix audio stream either. So, I left the project sitting for the last year or so and moved on to other projects.
This upload is the final Adobe Premier Pro CE5 project without any menus. It does have chapters for each song. I did not remove anything from what I captured on the two Sony master digital Mini-DV tapes. So there is a 3 - 4 seconds of blue screen (I always prepare and start the recordings a few seconds into the brand new tapes) at the beginning of the DVD, a slight cut in Sara Bareilles' coming out on stage unexpectedly and introducing her guitarist as he did an opening set, and one more blue screen segment as I inserted Mini-DV # 2. This final (for now) project is on one DVD.
I'd planned on using one of the two digital audio recorder's audio to overdub the video's audio and also have multiple choices in the audio streams, but I never did get that completed. I have the (1) master Sony MD70 with an external Sony ECM-917 microphone recorder's unedited audio, (2) master Zoom H2 digital audio recorder's audio, and (3) the two master Sony DVM60 ME Premium DV cassette tapes (each recorded in HQ 1 hour mode). So, if anyone with more time, knowledge, and better software to create a true digital transfer and better DVD build happens to be interested in doing so. leave a reply or e-mail me at bootradr@yahoo.com (I check this about once a week) if you might be interested in doing this. I've only played the Sony Mini-DV cassettes twice and I've stored them well (with other shows) that I haven't had the ability to transfer 100% digitally or do any matrix and/or multiple stream DVD builds on.
Here are the details you want. More details on the show and the night follow near the end of this posting.

This was a great show and a great night. It was also my first time seeing Sara Bareilles. I only had a few issues the whole night and they were all overcome for the most part. I had one security guard tell me I couldn't film near the end of the show, but this was during my changing of the Mini-DV tapes so it wasn't caught on the video recording. And after an excuse I'd prepared for in advance, they walked away and never came back and I continued on.
There was one issue (or person) that I was worried would ruin the recording, but in hindsight, they really didn't botch things very much and it's almost amusing when they are heard. A drop dead gorgeous 20-to-30-something year old drunk girl with an annoying voice was there with her (I guess) boyfriend. She was rambling on in a drunken state and I eventually told her she was being recorded each time she was talking. Part of this can be heard in the video but the directional microphone did an excellent job of keeping her voice from ruining this recording. Oh yea, she can be heard at times and you'll hear what I mean about how drunk she was :-) But she definitely didn't ruin things and she disappeared (probably passed out) before the end of the show.
Another annoyance to me, and one you soon don't even notice, was the beer bottle clanking occasionally picked up as waitresses or patrons dropped empty beer bottles into a trash can somewhere behind me. There's something loud about beer bottle on beer bottle impact. But it's not too often, you don't even notice it after a few times, and it's not a show stopping or ruining problem on the DVD.
I had a very steady camera holding night too. There are a few times I had to check on the other digital recorders, ask the drunk girl to quieten down, or I had some other issue that causes some video shakiness. But overall; the video stability is great! There are some other times where (I'm guessing here) the stage lights cause some focus issues, but it isn't too terrible. Plus I had an advantage in my location where the crowd in front of me was a few steps lower than me and they do not block anything!
I just got finished telling you the reasons you may find issues within the video, but truthfully, this came out very good I think (even if I was the one recording it :-) ). I am very pleased with the show and the capturing of it. And I hope you are too.
As far as I've seen or know, nobody else recorded a full Sara Bareilles show on this Kaleidoscope Heart tour. And if they have, I've yet to see it surface over the last three years. I hope another one does surface. If fact, I've never seen any other lossless Sara Bareilles (complete and/or non-cell phone) show surface from a video camera yet other than the pro shot 2008 Baden-Baden New Pop Festival video.
I'm very happy with the outcome of this video and I'm proud to be sharing it 3 years to the day later. I think you will enjoy it and I hope you do too...

Here is a very rare (I didn't even know about it myself until two days ago) and historic show from Journey's Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie during their transition year between Santana and the formation of Journey. This is an excellent audience recording and I left the whole show intact just as I got it from Dime. It doesn't have track names, but it has the file fingerprint file, technical notes on transfer, no SBE's, and it has basic artwork too! It's also in nicely separated stereo too. I added the md5 checksum file since it did not have one of those. Thanks to "alien156" for sharing this on Dime!

Pete Sears - bass

Gregg Rolie - keyboard
There is some light master cassette crackling on tracks 4 - 6, but it isn't the type that ruins a recording or show. I got three tracks from this show a few days ago in another great Journey recording. They were added on as bonus tracks to that recording. But this is the full show and it's from a very low (1st generation) copy of the master source.
While Gregg Rolie, Santana and Journey keyboardist and vocalist, was not a member of this band, he made a guest appearance for this show. Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie were friends and Rolie is how Schon was introduced to Santana in 1969 and became a member at the age of 15. Rolie and Schnon had left Santana in 1972 with Herbbie Herbert (the Santana manager and "to be" Journey manager). And during the year in between leaving Santana and getting Journey started, Neal Schon was in this short-lived band. You can hear the beginnings of the fusion-rock, first few Journey (pre-Steve Perry I might add) sounds Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie (founding members of Journey) were moving towards. There is very little singing in this show and it's mostly just rock 'n' roll playing without the singing. It's unclear how many tracks Gregg Rolie played on in this show, but he definitely is on a few of them if not all of them.
If you're a Journey fan, you'll want to check this one out...

Here is the show I accidentally uploaded as "1970-09-04" last week and then realized what I'd done later in the day. I was a year off when I uploaded the Inglewood 1970-09-04 show (it was this 1971-09-04 show)! Anyhow, since I've already got this one uploaded now, I might as well share it too as I correct the 1970-09-04 show's entry with the right links. This is a great sounding show and I know any Led Zeppelin fan should enjoy it!
I haven't changed anything since this upload already has the md5 checksum file and the ffp file too.

I've even got an LP version :-) I'll upload some of the soundboard versions (one in specific) at a later date. But this audience version is great and it runs at the correct speed too.
I hope you enjoy the show...

This is an almost soundboard sounding, excellent copy of the 5th source known in existence (out of 6 sources I believe) recording of Led Zeppelin's show in Inglewood, CA from this night in 1970. This is by far the best copy I've heard so far. The sound is very well balanced and the band is on fire this night. And there are a few rarities in the songs (the medley parts) they played on this September night just over 43 years ago too. I highly recommend this one!

I got this show from the R-O server about a week ago and I'm leaving it as is. The tracks aren't named and I did not name them. I did create a checksum file and a file fingerprint file since the original file set didn't have either and I checked for any lossiness in the audio and there was none. But other than the two files I created and checking the audio, I'm not changing a thing in this upload. This enables me to upload this show faster than going through my usual routines (and spending the time) doing all of this stuff myself like I usually do.
I highly recommend checking this show out because it is very, very good...

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a classic rock 'n' roll kind of guy. But we all have our guilty pleasures, and Sara Bareilles' voice and many of her songs are one of my guilty pleasures. She has an incredible voice, is hotter than an iron, and she and her band put on excellent live shows. Her live performances are much better than her official studio releases in my opinion (and her studio releases are great too!). And last night's show was no exception.
The only downside to last night's show was it was the final show this tour before she starts her headlining tour. In other words, her show didn't run as long as the rest of the shows this year will because there were a total of 5 acts playing and Sara Bareilles and New Republic were the main acts. She was the second from last act and the show ran approximately one hour. But it was great and I got a great recording too!

I had an excellent seat on the 5th row, stage right in front of the stacks. The venue was packed too but this great seating weeds out 90% of crowd noise even in between the songs.
As many of you might know, I am legally blind. And since I am, I use this to my advantage when it comes to concert going. I called up Verizon Theatre before going to the show and asked them if I could come early and get assistance in finding my seat. There were very supportive and very kind people working last night, and while I don't know for sure, asking for this help may have helped me get the recording I made as well as not shut down in picture taking like the lady to my left had to. I had a digital recorder hanging around my neck, another digital recorder with an external microphone (this source) and I was holding the microphone, a camera bag, and a very nice Cannon camera I was shooting photos and HD video with. I was seated at the very end of my 5th row seat with a small walkway to my right just wide enough for security to walk up and down and a set of railings for them to hold on to. Just shortly into the show, I was approached by a security guard and I thought he was saying I couldn't use it (the camera). I really didn't hear him but was attempting to ignore him too. But he got my attention and told the lady to my left she could not use her camera (about as nice as mine). He told me "your camera is OK :-) I'm thinking "what"? Just near the end of the song "Gravity", either the same employee of another one came up and said "Hey"! Again, I thought I was getting told to shut down. I tried explaining I'd already been told I could use the camera and the guy said "No, not you, get her" (or something like that). You can hear part of the short conversation in the quiet ending of "Gravity". I have no idea if this guy knew of my being legally blind and was just being cool or even why he didn't say anything about the audio recorders I had too. But he didn't! I was between him and the lady and her friends he (or they) was (or were) telling to put their camera away and stop using it. It's my opinion it probably was the same guy and he was just being cool knowing that even though I could've thrown a feather and hit the artist, I couldn't see very well and he allowed me to do what I was doing. But I really do not know? All I know is that every venue employee I dealt with from the time I got there early until I walked out the door leaving was extremely nice and helpful. And I want to thank them for that here!
So, that was my night last night and it was a great one. The show was great, the sound I captured was great, and I had a great night all of the way around!
I hope you can enjoy my guilty pleasure as much as I did last night...
