Creedence Clearwater Revival: 1970-01-31 Oakland, CA (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

This is a superb soundboard recording of the Creedence Clearwater Revival show 45 years ago today.  The show is an excellent show as well.

I don't know much about this recording, but when I got it a few years back I put it to disc and gave it a good, loud listening and really enjoyed it.  While there are other CCR soundboards of course, I haven't seen a lot of superb sounding ones so far.  So this one is a must have for any CCR collector looking for a show they can crank up and listen to in hi fidelity.

The waveform looks as superb as the recording and there is no audio clipping.  I do not think this is an FM broadcast recording either.  It's listed as a soundboard and it has the fidelity of a soundboard that many times can be lost is the FM broadcast tapings of off-air recordings.  It isn't always lost, especially when someone does it right and has a good tape decks or other recording equipment and transfer methods.

But this is definitely one of the top CCR recordings never released that I have heard.  And being the 45th anniversary of the show and a fast upload, I figured I'd share it before we move into February shows tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy this show...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-01-31 Detroit, MI (FLAC_AUD Source 2 1st Gen_2 CD)

This is another excellent sounding show and performance from Led Zeppelin 40 years ago today.

I am about to listen to this show again today because it's been too many years since I've heard it.  So I can't write up much of a review for it yet since I have never listened to this exact copy before other than via a PC speakers setup and still it wasn't the complete show I listened to.  I've heard the whole show a number of times through the years, but it has not been this exact copy I'm sharing today.  I am confident it sounds best though and will be jamming out on it very soon.

They still have "How Many More Times" in the setlist and they do keep "Black Dog" in the last songs, but they drop "Communication Breakdown" in this show.  They'd played both songs as the last two tracks in some of the previous recordings I've uploaded from their 1975 dates.

One thing I wanted to mention about this show is how excellent "No Quarter" is performed this night.  Page, with two broken fingers as Plant later talks about in the show, pulls off one of those "meed setting vibes" as does the rest of the band.  It has really somber feel to it with just an overall excellent performance I really like.

This first generation copy has more high frequencies present than the other copies I've listened too and it has no audio clipping either in the waveform.  I've only listened to this specific recording via PC Bose speakers so far, but I am burning it to disc now too and I will be listening to it via the home theater system soon and can make any additional updates here in this post (but not in my text file).

I haven't listened to the whole Detroit 1975-01-31 show in a long time on any label or generation copy either.  In fact, I spent about three hours last night tracking down my 1990's Jodak Gold CD-R trade copy.  I wanted to add it to the comparisons with the Immigrant, Cobra, and a few other label recordings to see which I thought sounded best.  Plus, I wanted to do an EAC rip of my old Kodak Gold CD-R's too and digitally back them up on a hard drive.  But in all of the time I spent looking and listening, this copy still remains the best sounding one I believe.

I hope you enjoy this show..

Led Zeppelin: 1973-01-30 Preston, UK (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

Today is the 42nd anniversary of this Led Zeppelin show in Preston, UK.  I'm going with the EVSD label copy because it is one of the best sounding copies I have as well as it is more complete.

This is an excellent sounding audience recording of this show.  While the EVSD people did a little audio clipping as they sometimes do, and the other copies I checked had none, this copy from EVSD still sounded better than the other label copy I was considering.  That, and a few other factors led to me picking this copy I am uploading today.

I mentioned this show was more complete than some other copies I have.  I have one copy I like the sound of and it is a master source copy too.  But it starts at "Misty Mountain Hop" and ends after "Dazed and Confused".  And the Electric Magic label copy is longer, containing "Stairway to Heaven" and "Whole Lotta Love", but the sound is too "tinny" sounding and it seems more distorted.  This EVSD label copy has all of these songs as well as the beginning three songs of the show which are "Rock and Roll", "Over The Hills and Far Away", and "Black Dog" too.  And the first three tracks sound a little better even though very close to the rest of the show's audio.  I'm guessing it is a different source but I really don't know yet.

I may or may not have some other copies of this show that I haven't sorted through as I've been rearranging the structure of my hard drives.  I seem to recall at least one more copy.  But for now, this EVSD copy is the best sounding and longest running copy with the most songs and I'm going with it today.

I hope you enjoy this show...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-01-29 Greensboro, NC (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

This is the TDOLZ copy of Led Zeppelin's concert they played in Greensboro, North Carolina 40 years ago today.

This is a great-to-excellent sounding show and there are no issues with audio clipping either.  TDOLZ seems to have done a good job and I believe this copy sounds better than my no label "Footstomping Graffiti" CD-R's (trade days) I am doing EAC rips on right now.  To my ears, this sounds cleaner as well as more can be heard.  Even in the beginning of "No Quarter", where someone is saying something like "...stand right there...", it can be heard more easily than on the "Footstomping Graffiti" copy.  I may be a lower generation copy TDOLZ used?

I have never burned this TDOLZ copy to disc and listened before.  But once I finish my EAC rips, I am going to burn "A Quick Getaway" and listen to it on the home theater system today because I liked what I was hearing through the PC speakers.  Plus, I haven't heard the show in years anyway.

I was obviously wrong when I mentioned a few days ago that I thought the show I was uploading was the last time the band played "How Many More Times."  They played it this night in Greensboro this night though!  It seems they were still ironing out their setlist that would be the more normal one going into February and on through their 1975 Unites States tour.  The band always changed songs up and added and left out various songs depending on the night.  But some, like "How Many More Times" and "When The Levee Breaks" did get dropped while others like "Dazed and Confused" became every night songs they played on this tour as of at least their 1975-02-03 New York's Madison Square Garden concert.

UPDATES (NEXT DAY):
(1) I'm listening to this recording tonight as I am preparing today's show upload and I realized this recording is running slow.  I'm not sure about other copies but this one definitely is running a little slow.  The tapers (sounds like two guys) are really enjoying the show and you hear them yell and talk a few times too.  It's a little funny honestly.  One decides to start writing the songs down as they're recording and asks "what songs have they played."  His buddy names off "Rock and Roll", and one of the new ones..." or something like that as "Over The Hills And Far Away" starts playing.  Physical Graffiti had not even been released yet, so some of these songs were unknown to the tapers.  It's still and enjoyable show though.

(2) Also, I'd originally mentioned the band dropped "Dazed and Confused" this night in place of "How Many More Times" once again.  But that was incorrect since they had not started playing it yet as I was thinking.  I was "misled" you could say and confused a 1973 show I'd worked on as being a 1975 one I think.  The text file I cannot change now that it is uploaded.  But keep that in mind if you read it in the text file too.

I hope you enjoy this show..

Kiss: 1979-01-29 Detroit,I (Pro Shot DVD)

Here's a show from Kiss that they played in Detroit, Michigan 38 years ago today.  This is an excellent video too.  Not being a huge Kiss collector or fan, even though I do like them, I'm not as familiar with their shows and only started collecting some over the last two years.

This is an excellent recording of an excellent show and I am uploading it "as is"."  That means I am uploading it as I make this post and I made no changes to the original file set I got.  I've added nothing and have taken nothing away from it.  This enables me to get the show uploading since it will take a while and at the same time work on this post and the posts for a number of other shows I'd like to post that historically occurred on January 29, 19XX.

If I have time and haven't already uploaded some of these shows, I plan on trying to get Led Zeppelin's 1975-01-29, Rory Gallagher's 1977-01-29, Pink Floyd's 1977-01-29, and Aerosmith's 1977-01-29 shows uploaded today too.  Man, there was a ton of rock 'n' roll concerts going on 38 years ago today as well as Led Zeppelin's show from 40 years ago today.  I'll definitely get the Zeppelin show up but I will decide what (if not all) other shows I can get uploaded today too as the day progresses.

One thing I like about this show from what I've watched so far is the mix.  The guitars really stand out it sounds like and I like a rockin' guitar sound.

The first audio stream is a remastered audio of the 2 channel Dolby Digital audio and the second audio stream is the original 2 channel Dolby Digital audio track from the video.  I think the remastered audio was what I was listening to and liked.  The switching between the two audio streams can be done via the DVD menu or via your DVD/Blu-Ray player remote control (in most cases).

This is obviously not the complete show I'd guess.  But it is a great portion of it at near an hour long.  And Detroit was a city Kiss was really big in too.  I'm surprised there is no "Detroit Rock City" played this night.  But for all I know, maybe that song had not been made yet?

I hope you enjoy the show...

The Babys: 1980-01-28 Cleveland, OH (FLAC_SB/FM BX_1 CD)

The Babys played this concert in Cleveland, Ohio 35 years ago today and it was broadcast live over WMMS FM radio.  The Babys, a band I know little-to-nothing about, is a band I've been researching due to the fact Journey's keyboard, piano, backup guitar, and backup vocalist Jonathan Cain came from when he joined Journey in 1981.

Jonathan Cain joined Journey in 1981 after being with The Babys between 1979 to 1981.  The Babys had been an opening band for Journey on Journey's 1980 Departure Tour.  And when founding keyboard and singer band member Gregg Rolie decided to "depart" Journey for the home life when the 1980 tour ended, he chose Jonathan Cain to replace him.  And the ever changing music of Journey went from supergroup status then to a household name with their new member Jonathan Cain and the release of their 1981 LP Escape.  And the rest is Journey history.  Jonathan Cain, still with Journey today for the last 34 years almost, is still rocking and celebrating his good decision to change bands even now I imagine.

The Babys went their 'separate ways' and called it quits due to a lack of popularity they sought but had not obtained.  According to Wikipedia, at the end of their 1980 tour when a fan grabbed the front man and band founder John Waite and pulled him from the stage injuring his knee badly in December of that year, the band only played on more show after that.

Jonathan Cain, still in The Babys and the band still being together into 1981, left around mid 1981 when he joined Journey.  I've uploaded Journey's first or fourth (still debates about which show) concert with Jonathan Cain at the 1981 Mountain Aire Festival at the Calavaras County Fairgrounds on 1981-06-14 (I believe) here on my site.

The Babys put out a 1981 LP, but it was a compilation of previously recorded material and was not truly a new material type of LP.  The Babys attempted to reform (without Cain of course) and even released another LP or two over the years.  But again, it was made up of compilations previously recorded.  Their short lived 1970's through 1980 popularity and live shows had ended and they faded into the used records and CD's bins never to make a comeback.

The Babys were a United Kingdom band with the exception of their addition of Jonathan Cain and one other member in 1979.  And at the start of this concert, a girl sounding a lot like MTV's Martha Quinn (she was so hot) introduces them as being "...from the UK..." as the show begins.

This is a superb sounding recording and the music actually sounds pretty good too.  It's nothing I'm going to rush out and buy.  But I like having a few live shows of them when Jonathan Cain was in the band and even fewer from before he was in the band.

While no mention of the venue is given on the artwork, during the concert, or by the source I found the show at, I imagine they were playing at the Richfield Coliseum.

Wikipedia had also compared this 1980 rendition and remolding of the band to be more like their fellow Chrysalis laabel recording artist Pat Benatar.  And I do like Pat Benatar too.  I actually hear some "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (Pat Benatar) music in the band's second song in this show titled "Broken Hart", bit that is about where I think the comparison stops after listening to the whole show this morning.

I could run on and keep typing more, but I imagine most people just want to hear the music if they want to check the show out.  So I'll finish listening to the show and preparing this upload.

Well, after I mention a few more interesting things :-)  The third song in this concert, "Anytime", is not the Journey song.  But it practically is saying the same exact thing Journey says in the r song which is "anytime you want me just call."  But Journey made their song a few years before The Babys made this song.  It almost sounds like a copyright infringement to me listening to the song's lyrics!  And this was the year The Babys were opening for Journey and Journey definitely would have been playing their original "Anytime" live also.  That's rather ironic.

The band also does a song in this concert that Jonathan Cain wrote, sang, and brought over to Journey in 1981 called "Turn Around Tokyo."   It's a song Journey played live a selected number of times and is found in shows including their 1981-09-05 Alpine Valley, Wisconsin concert's audio (found here) and their 1981-07-31 Tokyo, Japan concert's video (also found here).  It sounds great with The Babys, but it sounds so much better with Neal Schon playing on it and Steve Perry singing backup vocals on it too.

I really shouldn't down play The Babys music like it may have sounded like I did earlier because they do have some great songs as I keep listening to this show.  They sounded like talented artists and they made some good music.  This recording was made as The Babys were touring on their Union Jack LP release.

I hope you enjoy this show...

Led Zeppelin: 1973-01-28 Edinburgh, Scotland (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

Tomorrow will be the 42nd anniversary of this Led Zeppelin Edinburgh Scotland show.  This is truly a poor recording too!  We only have five songs from the concert, but it's not a huge loss due to the quality of the recording either.

My first copy of this show I got in the 1990's in a CD-R trade was titled "Edinburgh 1973" and I don't think "Dazed and Confused" was on it.  I'm not going to go looking for it now, but the artwork doesn't have it listed for that copy either.  I believe it may have sounded even poorer than this copy.

This copy is for the die hard fans or those seeking completeness in their collection only!

There are definitely worse recordings than this one that have surfaced.  But this is also definitely one of the bad ones.  There really isn't too much I can say other than the audio is terrible.  You can hear the songs and music amongst the muffled distortion.  But it is not a show most people would listen to often if at all.  To be honest, I try to listen to them all but might not have ever listened to this whole show.  I can't recall?

I hope you enjoy (but doubt you will) this show...

Led Zeppelin: 1973-01-27 Dundee, Scotland (FLAC_AUD Unknown Gen & SB 1st Gen_2 CD)

This Led Zeppelin show from 42 years ago today is an incomplete audience with partial soundboard recording of the show.  The audience portion sounds good and the soundboard portion sounds great.  So in other words, this show may appeal to those who like completeness over quality in sound.

I just realized that the first two tracks are likely backwards.  This is the way I got them, but "Rock and Roll" did not normally come after "Over The Hills and Far Away".  But the opposite order would be the normal 1973 setlist pattern.  And upon further research, I don't find anyone contradicting this order (even where they would normally do this).  So I'm leaving it as is.

After researching more, I realize this recording is the no label copy titled "Dundee-ism" also.  I had thought "Dundee-ism" was just the audience portion of the show but it is this recording in fact.

So far, only the last three songs from the show have surfaced on soundboard tapes.  And I'm not sure what the story is on why the audience recording is incomplete either.  The best sounding audience song is "The Rain Song" and it almost sounds as if it comes from another source to me.  But it may be that it is just a quieter song too and has less audio distortion.  And "Dazed and Confused" is cut very short at 4:05 in length.  Even the soundboard is sub par compared to most soundboards.  But it does sound decent and makes me wonder where the rest of it is.  I question the "1st Gen" claim on it, but who knows?

Thankfully, we do have these two recordings so we have some audible record of this concert.  While it isn't the very best in audio, it is not bad either.  The longest track is "Whole Lotta love" and it is almost complete and only missing the very beginning start to it.   It also contains the "Baby I Don't Care", "Let's Have A Party", "I Can't Quit You Baby", and even a tinge of "Ramble On" as well as other song improvisations in the medley.  It comes in at 25 minutes long but is missing a good mix because Page's guitar is not turned up as loud as the vocals or drums are.  The band does an excellent job of performing the songs and putting on the show.  I hope we get a great soundboard of this show some day because Plant's voice sounds spot on and perfect this night.

One last thing I wanted to mention is I split track 3 into two separate songs.  It had "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Since I've Been Loving You" as one single track for some unknown reason.

I hope you enjoy this show on its 42nd birthday...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-02-12 New York, NY (FLAC_AUD Source 1 Master_3 CD)

This is a spectacular audience recording of the Led Zeppelin concert on 1975-02-12 at Madison Square Garden.  It is the Jerry Moore/FBO source 1 audience recording that rivals a lot of soundboard recordings.  It's a recording you have to hear to believe.

And speaking of soundboards, as most Led Zeppelin collectors already know there is an excellent soundboard recording for this date that surfaced a few years back.  Just about every label has their rendition of it too.  I've uploaded the EVSD and Godfather label copies here in the past.  But if you'd enjoy a superb audience recording of this show, then this is the one for you.

There are other audience sources for this show but none come close to this one.  I've not had any luck getting the Artie recording yet and he's know to get good recordings.  But he's also know to talk during the shows and contaminate the recording.  And I bet he didn't use the same method the taper of this show did to record his copy either.

I like listening to a superb audience of the same show a superb soundboard exists from just as much personally.  It makes for a nice change and view of the show sometimes missed in the soundboard recording.

I've tried some different things in recording shows in an attempt to get the microphone above the crowd heads.  But as you see below, the taper in this case used a pole to extent the microphones about two feet above the crowd heads.  And what a difference that made too.  You got to love it!!!

I've had this recording for a long time but had never put it to CD-R since I primarily had listened to the soundboards.  In fact, while working on some uploads here the other day I "accidentally" listened to one of the label's soundboard recordings for this show.  I say "accidentally" because I had the three CD-R's labeled as the 1975-02-28 Baton Rouge Rampaging Cajun show and had somehow accidentally burned one of the label's copy of this 1975-02-12 date to the discs instead.  When I heard Plant talking about walking "four blocks in the snow" to get to the venue, I knew they weren't in Baton Rouge.  So I renamed the discs after listening to each of them, put them in a new sleeve, and found my Baton Rouge show and listened to it the following day :-)

Anyhow, getting back on topic here; this recording is one any Zeppelin fan would love.  I'm not sure what the story is with Jerry Moore, but I do know he has passed away since sharing this recording.  Not knowing him personally, but having seen his named mentioned in a number of Led Zeppelin audio shares, I'm not sure if he recorded the show or if he got it first and transferred the master tapes to a DAT machine?  And I imagine the show got more widely circulated via For Badgeholders Only (aka FBO).
But again, I cannot verify this.

FBO
was an early Led Zeppelin live shows and unreleased recordings trading group I was a part of up through when I had my eye surgeries and lost most of my vision.  I lost contact with most of my fellow FBO'ers as well as most of my other trading sources too when I had to depart for years until I was able to come back and rejoin the collecting and trading communities as I learned to do things with low vision.  And a lot of e-mail addresses had changed, people were using the internet for trading and sharing and not doing mail trades as much, and a lot of my contacts were lost (as well as the backups) on old PC's that I had upgraded from also.  I have searched inside and outside of those old PC's just this last year for lost files and information.  But as of this time, the materials are still lost and a few of the old PC's aren't exactly working either.

It's a shame we can't say thank you to Jerry Moore today!  But we can still appreciate his work and sharing of this gem and the many others he is credited with through the years too.  And we can all know that his love of Led Zeppelin's music and his generosity is the reason we have this recording I am sharing here today.

I hope you enjoy this show..

It really is too bad this concert by Rush that was played in Poughkeepsie, New York is just a partial segment of the show.  It is a superb recording!  I sure wish we had the rest (and most) of the show.  But at least one of my Rush favorite tracks, "La Villa Strangiato", is one of the tracks in the recording.

The waveform looks excellent in this recording with no audio clipping at all.  This is one of those perfect recordings that seem flawless.  There is also superb stereo separation in the recording as well.  This is definitely one of the best unreleased Heart recordings I've heard and may even be the best.  There is an occasional tinge of off air static heard but it is barely noticeable and not often.

The show is an excellent performance by the band too.  They cover a lot on tunes as well as do a backstage interview after the concert.  You won't regret getting this one!

I hope you enjoy this show..

Atlanta Rhythm Section: 1977-01-25 New York, NY (FLAC_SB/Pre & Studio_2 CD)

This is an excellent recording of the Atlanta Rhythm Section show 38 years ago today in New York.  This is a band that I really started checking out only a few years ago.  I'd heard of them before but for some reason was misled and thought they played movie soundtracks. I didn't realize they were rock 'n' roll oriented.

I'm still not real familiar with their music even thought I've heard a number of their songs before growing up.  This 2 CD set is a live performance that occurred 38 years ago today and there are three bonus studio outtakes of "So Into You" at the end.

Thanks goes to "Scooter" for the sharing of this recording.

The waveform looks excellent in this recording with no audio clipping at all.

The three outtakes at the end (or on CD 2) were not all listed in the download and there were two tracks titled "So Into You (outtake 1)."  Obviously, there can't be two "outtake 1" recordings.  But they are different file sizes so I just left things "as is" there.

I'd planned on uploading this show, a Rory Gallagher show from 41 years ago today, and maybe another "XX years ago today" show or two.  But I laid down this afternoon and spent Sunday sleeping like a rock.  I guess I needed some rest or something.  I may or may not upload the Rory Gallagher show too.  We'll see!

I hope you enjoy this show..

Led Zeppelin: 1975-01-25 Indianapolis, IN (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

Today is the 40th anniversary of this Led Zeppelin show that seems to go overlooked at lot of times.  I'm not sure why, but I just don't see it mentioned often.

This show I believe may be the last time Led Zeppelin played "The Wanton Song" live and I think it was the last show (at least in 1975) where the played "How Many More Times."  However, the band finally added "No Quarter", a staple in Led Zeppelin live shows to me, and they kept it.  And of course they quit playing "When The Levee Breaks" too.

This is a clean and easy to hear show.  However, some songs are incomplete. Unfortunately the taper stopped taping a few times in just a few songs during the show.

Both copies of this show I have test lossy with TLH.  And as I mentioned recently, I'm sick and tired of getting bad results in lossiness (CDDA/MPEG audio) testing so I did a spectral analysis (SA) and a frequency analysis (FA) in Audacity.  I also did an SA in another program on my PC named AVS Audio Editor.  The big problem for me at this point is understanding how to read the results correctly.  I've asked for help and hopefully I will get some with the results I posted from the tests over on R-O.  I've included the FA and SA results in a folder in this download and if any of you can make better sense of them, please let me know what you determine.

UPDATE: I have some good news.  While some of it is above my pay grade (or knowledge :-) ) the guys over at R-O confirmed this is NOT a lossy source recording.  There are a lot of "audio geeks" (mnakes me jealous what they know) over there and it seems this was likely messed with before silver CD pressings and EQ'ed with rolling off of some frequencies that makes it look like (to program like TLH that cannot adequately tell) a lossy sourced recording.  But it isn't.  In fact, the recording and the issue of it (1995) pre dates mp3's or lossy audio anyhow.  This information is not in the text file since it is an update so you may want to copy and paste it if you think you may not remember.

I hope you enjoy this show..

This recording has the cleanest sound to it from the other copies I compared it too.  It has a nice mix with Plant's vocals being up front as well as the musical instruments all being relatively heard at the same levels.  A number of the other copies seem to have too much low frequency mixed in (causing a hum I believe) and Plant's vocals are hidden in the mixes too.  A few have his vocals sounding nice, but they still aren't as clean sounding as this recording.  I'm not saying their bad, just that they don't sound as good to me.  And one copy does actually sound bad.

NOTES FROM "ACAPULCOGOLD" (copy & paste):
"A very good, and underated show/performance from the group.

The band are playing quite well, and Plant's voice is on the mend from the flu he was suffering from at the beginning of the tour.

Nothing has beeen done to this recording in terms of remastering, EQ'ing, or noise/hiss reduction, all that has been done to this tape in terms of editing is some nescessary tape speed correction.

Originally the whole recording was running way too fast, and needed to be slowed down.

This is a pretty decent upgrade to alot of the previous versions/releases that have been released into circulation, I not only include bootleg versions in that comparisson, but low gen versions as well.

This version (compared to previous releases/transfers we've heard posted online), this version has alot more clarity and balance in the instruments and vocals than previous releases have, other ones I've heard have very muddy vocals, and a distorted sound to the instruments.

The improvement in sound could be due to the fact that the copying of the cassettes used in this release was done in the late 1980's (possibly before some deterioration set into the tapes), and the transfer to CD-R was done in the early 90's, or the transfer was done on good equipment.

However, like other versions of this show that have been posted online, this recording does have the excessive tape hiss in both channels, and the tape recorder hum, but it's not as dominant as it is on other releases.

Another fault of this recording is that it is incomplete, missing the very final encore of the night "What Is And What Should Never Be".

Some releases have this song, and others don't, this version does not have it.

There's been alot of debate about the legitimacy of this song actually being played as the final encore of the night, and whether or not it's actually from Aberdeen and not some other performance and recording, but the general consensus now  is that the song was actually played that night.

During their winter 1973 tour of the U.K, the band added alot of material they had previously retired to their repetoire, possibly to spice things up, or reward a crowd they liked, examples of this are "Immigrant Song" from Bradford, (1-18-73), and  "How Many More Times" from Southampton, (1-22-73).

So the idea of the band playing "What Is And What Should Never Be" at this point and time in their career isn't too strange...it's strange that it was played as the final encore because the song really doesn't have the weight and impact of being a "closing song", but that's on them.

For those that may not know, this show has an interesting story behind it's one and only bootleg release ("The A-15). When it was released by the TDOLZ label, it was mislabeled as being the groups performance in Rotterdam, Holland, on March, 11th, 1973, but that's false.

How it was discovered that this performance is actually Aberdeen is a mystery to me, but I think it was found out to be Aberdeen by a comment made by Plant during the show before the band plays "Heartbreaker".

He sounds like he's saying "Aberdeen" to the audience.

The confusion about this recording has never been a factor for myself though because this show was sent and labeled as being Aberdeen, not Rotterdam when I recieved it in the 1980's.

Hope everyone here will enjoy this.~ acapulcogold"

It's kind of ironic I found this text file with
"acapulcogold's" notes after preparing this upload.  I use to store text files in a separate folder on another drive before I realized how stupid that was (not to mention a pain in the butt).  The text file explains just what I had noticed as I was listening to this show in regards to Plant's vocals and the sound.  I'm glad I found this for my own benefit!

One note of interest and stemming from "
acapulcogold's" information is the LedZeppelin.com website shows "What Is And And What Should Never Be" as well as "The Ocean" (neither on this recording) were both played as the final songs.  So who really knows?

I hope you enjoy this show..a day before it's 42nd birthday...

Led Zeppelin: 1975-01-24 Cleveland, OH (FLAC_AUD 1st Gen_2 CD)

Here's another anniversary upon us today.  This is the 40th anniversary of Led Zeppelin's show at the Richfield Coliseum near Cleveland, Ohio.  This is thee mastered copy by "Lzndr" shared on R-O.  I'm trying to get the raw copy that hasn't been altered but haven't had any luck yet.

"Lznrd" did very little EQ work on this show he states.  He slightly EQ'ed the show and he did work like speed correcting the audio as well as a few other things too.  He wrote in more detail about the work he did in a thread for this date over on the Royal Orleans website.  The additional information can be easily found and read if anyone wants to check it out themselves.

This is a good audience recording and I am guessing it was made by Susan Hedrick herself.  But I don't know this for a fact.  She definitely recorded some shows over the years but I only know of a few she definitely recorded herself.  Either way, she's the reason we have the show so thanks goes to her for that!

I'm not really sure if this show was titled like the artwork shows or not?  The artwork, while it is a perfect match, was not part of "Lzndr's" share.  I'm guessing it was fan created.  But since it's a perfect match I am using it.  I found it over on the both Led Zeppelin artwork sites Zepart.com and RambleOnZep.com.

For anyone that doesn't know, Richfield is a suburb city near Cleveland, Ohio.  Many times the Richfield Coliseum shows get labeled as "Cleveland" and many times they get labeled as "Richfield."  So either way, it is the same place.

I did a little history research on the Richfield Coliseum a while back and learned it was in a very rural area.  It was also a huge venue out in the middle of nowhere.  I don't know how much Richfield has grown today, but I do know the coliseum was closed in the 1990's.  Too bad since there were so many great concerts there throughout the 1970's and 1980's.

I hope you enjoy this show..
