Stevie Nicks: 1989-10-06 Houston, TX (FLAC_SB/FM_1 CD)

Here's another excellent Stevie Nicks show from my hometown of Houston.  If I remember correctly, this is one of the more rare Nicks tours as far as recordings go.  This was her tour for the album The Other Side of The Mirror.  I know I have a DVD of this tour too but I need to rebuild it and add at least chapters because it came without any.

I'm surprised I didn't go to this show back in 1989.  I believe I recall the commercials for this tour, but then again it could have been the 1986 tour I'm thinking of too.  Either way, I know I didn't go because (a) I'd remember it and (b) I still have never seen Stevie Nicks live.  I'd love to see her but the ticket prices for her and for Fleetwood Mac too are through the roof.

Fleetwood Mac is touring right now in 2014 and I'd love to get a chance to see and record their show.  I've seen a number of shows surfacing lately but have not got any from the 2014 tour yet.  To be honest, i was a little disappointed by their last tour in 2012 I believe.  Lindsay Buckingham, while starting out strong in the 2012 shows I got, seemed to start playing in a very non Fleetwood Mac sounding style in the shows.  His old style of excellent rock and roll, as in the 1975 - 1979 era of the band, seems lost in the past in most shows today.  And that's too bad because this is a talented band that has made some excellent music over the years.

I guess I'll get off of Fleetwood Mac and finish up with posting this Stevie Nicks show.  If you are a fan of Nicks you will like this show because both the recording and her voice sound excellent.  Unlike a few shows in previous years, she seems very on track and in control over her performance and what she says during it.  She sounds undeniably Stevie Nicks!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Stevie Nicks: 1986-09-06 Weedsport, NY (FLAC_SB/FM_1 CD)

I've been skipping a lot of other artists lately and primarily just uploading Led Zeppelin shows.  I'm not saying that is a bad thing.  I just think it's time I branch out again and start adding some more music from artists I also like.  Besides, I don't think Led Zeppelin was playing anywhere "X amount of years ago today" in October anyhow :-)

This is an excellent sounding Stevie Nicks partial concert broadcast over FM radio a number of years back.  Peter Frampton is featured on the track "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" as a backup singer and guitarist.

I cannot say without a doubt this is a lossless source recording right now.  It tests lossy (MPEG) with TLH.  But TLH is notorious for not giving correct readings on FM radio broadcasted shows too.  With the amount of work the original sharing party put into this show, I have a good feeling it is lossless and not lossy.  But again, I cannot be for sure and especially without a frequency analysis or spectral analysis on the audio tracks.  I'm going ahead and uploading the show in the FLAC format like I got it.  If I'm able to determine it is lossy in the future I will correct this post.

Stevie Nicks sounds really great vocally in this show and the mix is very sharp and clean too in the recording.  The only change I noticed listening earlier was the volume drop during the very last track "Rhiannon".  It can still be heard fine.  It just sounds like the receiver was turned down or the broadcast volume was lowered a little as the song gets moving.

I was comparing a few other Nicks shows that were also FM broadcasts a little earlier and this was one of the top ones in sound and clarity I do believe.  At least in the 5 different FM broadcast I was looking at this was the case as I checked them before transferring them to the master hard drive with the rest of the Stevie Nicks shows are stored.

I'm having problems sleeping tonight so I may upload another Stevie Nicks show or two (or some other artist).  If you have an artist you haven't seen here and you'd like too, just leave a comment in the most recent post and I'll upload something from them if I have them.  And as long as they aren't something I hate (like rap or hip hop), I'll even try and find a recording of the artist if i don't have then and if you let me know what you'd like to hear in a comment.  So let me know!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1969-01-26 Boston, MA (FLAC_AUD 2nd Gen_2 CD)

This is the fourth night in Led Zeppelin's inital first time playing in Boston.  I'm guessing this show must have been added on after the first three dates because of posters and newspaper articles I've seen referring to the 23rd, 24th, & 25th dates only.  This is an excellent recording!

The artwork for this show is way off and completely wrong with the date and venue.  It claims this recording as the 1969-02-01 Fillmore East show in New York.  It is definitely not that location or date and is Boston 1969-01-26.

This copy sounds better to me than the one I initially uploaded HERE.  It is a cleaner recording and even Plant's vocals, as well as other instruments and playing, can be heard better and cleaner.  Page's guitar takes precedent still but the recording and show sound better than the Cobra/Trade Mark of Quality label Killing Floor.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1969-01-23 Boston, MA (FLAC_AUD 1st Gen_1 CD)

This is Led Zeppelin's first show in Boston.  It was the first of four nights they played in a row and the first time ever they played there at all.  Currently, we have two of the four nights recorded.  This night, or the first night, and the 1969-01-26 show which was the fourth and last night before they returned again a few months later for three more shows starting on May 27th.  Both recordings from the January Boston shows are great and I have already uploaded the last night's show in the past.

I have another copy of the 1969-01-26 show I may upload here in a little while today.  I really like the 1/26 show because Jimmy Page's guitar is really up front and the person recording was obviously in front of Page's amps.  It comes at the expense of hearing Plant and other members as well, but Page was on fire that night and it really is worth it!

Led Zeppelin, the band's first album, Robert Plant is not sure if it has been released yet in the United States he tells the crowd before "I Can't Quit You Baby".  The band seem to be spending some time tuning up and getting ready before the songs too.  After all, they had only been touring three or four months at this point and on their very first tour.

Storms are raging in my area so I'm going to hurry and finish this post up, upload it, and hopefully get it all done before the power cuts off again!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1969-04-27 San Francisco, CA (DVD-A_SB Master/AUD 2nd Gen Matrix_Both Sets)

It is completely unbelievable that I have never uploaded this superb show before!  It's so far from normal understanding that I thought I had at some point and guess I just never checked until today.  I'm still thinking I have but somehow am missing it here, but it sure doesn't look that way.

This is one of my five top Led Zeppelin shows on the list of the best ones.  It is that good!  The second set was my first Led Zeppelin unreleased recording I ever got too.  It sounded nothing near as good as the more recent decades of copies have.  Plus, it was the audience recording I got and not the soundboard way back then too.  But I loved it just the same.

This is both sets at the Fillmore West, a venue renown for excellent Led Zeppelin shows on their 1969 tour.  This is a DVD-A (DVD audio with slideshow and video segments).  And I like the way Genuine Masters built this DVD-A too.

I like how Genuine Masters added video to the project instead of it being all slideshow oriented like most DVD-A projects are.  I could have lived without the graphic cartoon artwork representations of the band however.  It's just not the way I want picture the band jamming out if you know what I mean.  But with the LPCM audio and the excellent production Genuine Masters is known fo, I really don't have too many complaints.

The show really sounds superb too.  I'm not saying it is the definitive sound out of the different copies of the show I have.  But it is not anything at all worth worrying about quality wise either.  And I will be uploading other copies of the show over time too including what I think is the definitive copy.  The soundboard based copies are all superb with excellent stereo separation!

Thanks goes to Greg Z. for making this DVD-A available.  I'd seen it mentioned over a few years, had a FLAC audio rip of the DVD-A, but did not have the DVD-A itself.  And I like DVD-A projects because (a) the show is usually on one disc, (b) it is almost always in a higher quality audio, and (c) you usually have some sort of slideshow or video to watch as you listen to the show.  I plan on watching this one myself today when I get back home!

Speaking of getting back home...I'm uploading this remotely this morning so there is no text file in the upload.  There was not one to begin with, and since I wanted to get the show uploaded while I was gone, I uploaded it without a description/information text file.  You can copy & paste this post's content into a text file and save it if you want one.  But since I didn't have time to make a "Bootradr's info" file and since there was no "info" file originally, I had to get it uploading without one before I left yesterday.

Enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1972-10-10 Kyoto, Japan (FLAC_AUD Source 2 1st Gen & Source 1 3rd Gen Patch_2 CD)

As promised, here's the Led Zeppelin Kyoto show from 42 years ago today.  Who would have imagined that almost half a century later we'd still be sharing excellent recordings like this one of these historic shows?  I hope people will carry on with the torch over the next half century too because this is from an era when music was different, real, people took pride in the quality of their recordings which were harder to make, and the analog equipment was just built well and great captures like this one were recorded.  And they have survived for so long.  And likely will be surviving throughout history for as long as the earth exists if people like us carry on sharing the shows!

The band seems ready to get home if you can judge that by the setlist.  They drop a few songs such as "Dancing Days" and "Moby Dick" as well as others.  Kyoto may have gotten the shorter show I imagine because the almost two weeks in Japan was probably making the band feel like getting back home.  Why else would the Kyoto show be approximately 45 minutes shorter than the show just the previous night?

This is another excellent recording during the final day of Led Zeppelin's last show in Japan.  This was the wrap up of their Japan leg of the 1972 tour as well as the last time they played a Japanese tour.  I really do not know why?  They have had a great following in Japan all along so one would expect they'd have come back in at least 1975.  But in the remaining eight years of Led Zeppelin, they never played Japan again.

This historic show is the better Source 2 recording with Source 1 used as the patch where no audio existed from Source 2.  I hate that there is a change right as the "Stairway to Heaven" solo begins and the Source 1 recording is used to fill that gap for a few seconds.  I love the solo part of that song.  But it still sounds great, and the lesser sounding Source 1 material is sparse and just used to fill in short spots where tape changes or whatever the reason was for missing or messed up audio was not present.  So it does complete the show having both sources in there and it is an excellent production "weekwacker" put together.

I hope you enjoy the show...
