Led Zeppelin: 1980-06-17 Dortmund, Germany (FLAC_SB 1st Gen Remaster_2 CD)

I've had a number of requests this year and late last year too for some 1980 Led Zeppelin shows.  So I have picked a couple of shows and put them over in a folder I named "Led Zeppelin 1980 Requests" and I'll upload a couple as I randomly pick some excellent and superb shows I want to upload over the next few days.

I decided to upload Led Zeppelin's very first concert of their 1980 tour.  This was their return to the stage for the band's very last tour ever.  Since this is the month, September 25th to be exact, that Led Zeppelin would lose John Bonham after they finished their 1980 European tour,, I really wanted to upload some of the great 1980's concerts anyhow.  Bonham died just before the band was to begin their 1980 American tour. .

LIN K:
(1) 1980-06-17 Dortmund, Germany (SB 1st Gen/Ezytouch Remaster)

This is an "Ezytouch" remastered copy of the show.  It is a superb sounding recording but it does sound like there are a few audio adjustments made in the recording too.  They may have been in the unaltered first generation soundboard recording too but I'm not sure.  There are some audio dropouts and rough spots in a few places in the show but not too many.  A few songs were not split at their track beginnings or endings or where they should have been.  So in some cases, there will be more than one song per track number.

The tracks had sector boundary errors (SBE's) but I fixed them before uploading the show.  That could be something as simple as the down sampling from 44/24 to 44/16 was the cause because any audio not 44/16 (or commonly referred to as "CD standard") will not have SBE's as a factor in the audio

"Since I've Been Loving You" is missing the very beginning and begins after the song has already started in this recording.  And "Black Mountain Side" has some audio change that occurs during it too and it moves between a lesser sounding audio and back to normal sounding audio as it goes on into "Kashmir".  I'm not sure if this was on the original 1st Gen soundboard recording or not.  I have that original recording too.  But as I compared the two copies prior to picking which to upload, I liked the clean and sharp sound in this copy better and didn't do too much comparing.  I'd actually burned this "Ezytouch" copy to disc a while back and I listened to it earlier today on the home theater system.

"Stairway To Heaven" has a bad static crashing sound right before the solo near then end but clears itself up fast.  "Black Dog" abruptly drops off after about 1 - 2 minutes of playing and the last track on CD 2 picks up where it dropped off after it already has started.  So the music goes from "Black Dog" playing midstream to "Whole Lotta Love already playing and then "Heartbreaker" is joined to the same track as "Whole Lotta Love".  Heartbreaker has some ups and downs with the audio and then it picks up again in the guitar solo part of the song.  Again, I'm not sure if this is on the original first generation soundboard recording too or not?

I usually test for lossiness early on, but this time I didn't until near the end of putting this upload together.  And it looks lossy with TLH.  I did have a friend look closer at the audio and he says it is lossless though,  TLH is not reliable for testing audio for lossiness all the time and since this copy had been EQ'ed a lot it likely gives the false TLH results.  There was no audio clipping in the waveform to speak of.

Thanks goes to "Ezytouch" for sharing his project with us!

I hope you enjoy the show...
