Led Zeppelin: 1973-03-22 Essen, Germany (FLAC_AUD Source 1, 1st Gen & Source 2, 1st Gen Mix + Bonus CD SB/AUD Mix Tracks_4 CD)

Today is the 42nd anniversary of this great-to-excellent sounding Led Zeppelin concert in Essen, Germany.  This is the Winston Remasters two first generation audience sources (source 1 and 2) mix and it comes with a fourth disc that has the available 1st generation soundboard audio mixed with a first generation audience audio to patch it.  The fourth disc contains "Dazed and Confused" and "Whole Lotta Love" and is a nice addition to the audience recording.

Some people may want to burn all four discs and some may want to just burn the three audience discs.  And I imagine a few will won't to replace the audience tracks of "Dazed and Confused" and "Whole Lotta Love" with the soundboard and audience mix copies too.  If they do, the audience version of both songs and the soundboard/audience mix of both songs are exactly the same in length.  I'm sure Winston Remasters did this with this idea in mind.

I fixed a small flaw in the bonus disc that will help if you decide to replace the audience recorded tracks with the soundboard and audience mix recordings too.  Bonus disc 4 had sector boundary errors and I used TLH to repair both tracks.  I had checked to see if using the disc four tracks in place of the original audience tracks would have SBE's before repairing them, and it did.  But after replacing it with the fixed SBE's copies of the songs there were no SBE's.

Don't worry if you don't understand this.  You don't really need to.  But it might not hurt to learn about it in case you're burning discs.  And learning about SBE's can help you easily fix issues like this yourself in the future.  There is plenty of help on how to align sector boundaries (aka fix sector boundary errors or SBE's).  And the free Windows program all traders should have, Trader's Little Helper (aka TLH), does it for you very easily.   Fixing SBE's before a CD burn, and again they're easy to check and fix too,  prevents pops and clicks and other disc errors from being heard in your CD burns.  SBE's only effect 44.1 kHz/16 bit audio which is the CD standard for all CD-R disc burns.

I really have enjoyed listening to this show again after many years of not hearing it.  And I really have enjoyed it even more listening to the Winston Remasters copy that is an upgrade from many, if not all, copies of the show I have had over the years.  As usual, Winston Remasters nailed the best sound down in my opinion.

I hope you enjoy the show...
