Journey: 2001-02-07 Hiroshima, Japan (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

Last, but definitely not least, this is Journey's final Japan concert on the first leg of their opening tour in 2001.  This is a superb sounding show and one of their very best.  This was their sixth and final show before they returned to the United States the following day.

I believe their first show on this 2001 Arrival tour in Japan, the 2001-01-30 Tokyo concert, and this final concert are the two best of all six shows.  Well, there is one show I don't have still.  But of the five I have I believe this to be true.  Both in sound and in performance, they are excellent-to-supebr shows.  And this Hroshima show is the very best concert of them all in my opinion.  Steve Augeri is spot on and the band is too.  Neal Schon's "Who's Crying Now" guitar solo is straight out of 1981 too and he is smoking!  They're pumped up and have an energy that they put out in this show that transcend CD audio and can be felt listening.

This show has some great extras in it including the length of it.  This show is a lot longer than the already long previous Japan shows on this tour.  This show is almost two and a half ours long!  They also play "La Raza Del Sol" and they seldom played that song.  This is also the first show where they come back after their final song, "Faithfully", on every other Japan 2001 show and they play two more songs.  So with the quality of sound, the length, the quality of the performance, and the setlist; this is my favorite show from this tour.  Journey went out with a big bang in these Japanese concerts!

It never fails!  There always seems to be a problem or question when dealing with recordings after the mid 1990's when the dreaded mp3 (or MPEG) audio ruined the scene.  This is another case of not knowing for sure if this is an MPEG sourced audio or a true lossless audio sourced recording.  Especially looking at the test results from CD 1.  Without a good frequency analysis and spectral analysis we just have to hope for the best because TLH gives a lot of false results.

There is something else worth mentioning about this show's audio.  There is no clipping!  The clipping is no minute that is is pretty much non existent.  Anaconda did a wonderful job of producing and releasing this gem.  This is the only night out of the five we have that has no audio clipping.

I have a favor to ask.  Please, if you have the 2001-02-04 Shizuoka, Japan show, upload it!  That is the one date that I'm sure exists but I have yet to come across or find.  It'd be nice to have the last remaining show to make it a complete six night, twelve disc set.

I hope you enjoy this show...
