Black Sabbath: 1978-12-07 Abilene, TX (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

Thirty-six years ago today, Black Sabbath played their last show known to have been recorded with Ozzy in the band.  At least this was the word years ago when I got this show.  It was reported that this was the fourth from last show on the Never Say Die LP tour and the last Black Sabbath show recorded with Ozzy in the band.  Also, the party I got this copy from said the song "Shock Wave" was a rare one and there were only six known recordings of shows with it and this was the last one and the only one that is a soundboard recording.  But once again, this information is likely 15 years old I'm passing on and it may or may not hold true today.  I really don't know?

I was expecting to see a lot of clipping when looking at the waveform.  But there is very little at all and the waveform looks quiet nice.  The recording sounds really good but it sounds like distortion is present too at various times.  I have no proof of this, but if I had to take a wild guess I would think this is one of those cases where a taper was able to hook into the soundboard to get this recording.  The show is incomplete too as anyone should be able to tell (the length of it, songs cutting in and fading out, etc).

One thing makes me wonder if the artwork is from this exact source.  There is an extra track here not listed on the artwork.  "Rock 'N' Roll Doctor" is not listed on the artwork like it should be.  It does fade out before ending, but it would normally be something still listed.  But as we all know, boot labels aren't exactly known to get things right a lot of the times on artwork.  Even the best of them mess up.

I've had this recording for so many years that it took me a while to find the artwork and original information on it.  I use to store various segments of a recording (i.e. the audio tracks, the artwork, any text files, etc) in various and different folders before I knew any better.  And this was a case of that happening and having to search for the files and information I got in trade many years ago.

I'll look and see if a more complete copy of this show exists.  And if it does, and if I can get it, I'll post it too.

I hope you enjoy the show...
