Robin Trower: 1973-08-06 Denver, CO (FLAC_SB/FM_1 CD)

This is one of the best Robin Trower recordings I've ever heard.  The sound is superb and the performance is even better.  His guitar playing can be heard up front where is should be and not hidden at the same level as the other instruments.  I've had this show for a good while and never really listened to it until yesterday.  What a great guitarist and performance!

This show has some historical value too for Trower fans.  Rather than type what someone else has already typed (isn't that called plagiarism); I'm copying & pasting the comments from the text file included when I got this show a few years back.

ORIGINAL NOTES:
"This is a very early FM Broadcast of Robin when he was playing 2 sets a night.  This broadcast includes two songs from the yet to be released classic Bridge of Sighs.  In fact, the arrangement, lyrics and the name of Day of the Eagle is different.  Robin introduces the song as "Another Day Another Night" which were lyrics in the album version.  Little Bit of Sympathy  was the other song included in this set which had not been released.

Excellent quality for a 73 Trower show. This is  the complete version sent to me by (an) Easytree member "clifford"  Please give thanks to Cliff for providing the complete source.  In addition, this source is in my opinion slightly better then the source I originally posted.  Updated Artwork included.
"

Enjoy the show...

Rush: 1978-12-02 Detroit, MI (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

Here is another excellent Rush show from their Hemispheres Tour in 1978.  This one is also a sopundboard recording and the full show too.  It sounds excellent.  It borders on superb, and after listening to it again later today, I may come back and upgrade it to superb here.  I don't know the full story on this show and the previously uploaded 197811-20 Tucson show less than two weeks earlier, but they sound a lot alike.  I don't mean they are the same show because they are not.  But the quality and soundboard recording has the same or very similar mixes.  I'm guessing here, but I wonder if someone from the Rush camp got hold of these and made them available many years ago.  Who knows, but a lot of shows from this time period of Rush concerts sound this way and I don't think it's a coincidence either.

There are no interruptions due to crowds crushing people or making the stage start to collapse in this show as in the 1978 Tucson, Arizona show.  At least if there were any, nobody said anything about it.  The band, as always, plays a superb show and they do so impeccably too.

I don't really have a lot more to say about the show because it's been a long time since I've listened to it.  But once I get a few things done today, I'm planning on cranking it up and listening again later.  In fact, I may upload a 1974 Rush show a little later if I have time and I'd like to listen to it again first too because it's been too many years since I have.  We'll see how much time I have to do what I want to do today :-)

Enjoy the show...

Rush: 1978-11-20 Tucson, AZ (FLAC_SB_2 CD)

This is an incredible and superb sounding Rush show from 1978.  The band is flawless and their songs remind me of a Zeppelin style in that they aren't the 4 - 8 minute radio friendly versions.  That's one good thing about live music.  There are no time limits as to how long a song can be!

The crowd, thankfully not heard except between songs, is very excited at this first Rush show Tucson ever had.  They're obviously rowdy too as Geddy Lee has to take time between a couple of songs and tell them the people up front are getting crushed and will die as well as the stage is close to collapsing from them pushing forward.  He tells the crowd they'll have to stop playing if people don't take three steps back.  I guess they do because the concert goes on and continues through the normal end of it.

At this time, nobody seems to know which show the last two bonus tracks are from.  They're reportedly not from this era of Rush concerts but the original Frankfurt, Germany 1979 claim also isn't correct and they are not from that show either.

Back when I first heard of Rush, in 1976, I did not like them.  And as the radio stations have done for too many decades (and still do), all I was hearing were the same "radio friendly" songs over and over again.  But in the mid 1990's, I met a friend that was a huge Rush fan and he let me borrow many of their earlier CD's.  I was blown away as I listened to songs I'd really never heard.  And as the next year passed, I'd already bought every Rush CD up to that period (199X) and had started finding live shows at the local CD Warehouse that were bootlegs.  And the rest is history.  Rush won me over fast once I heard what else they had to offer besides the standard FM radio play songs.  These guys are three of the most talented musicians out there and this is still true even today.  Very few bands can play a song the same way they did almost 40 years ago and still have the same sound too.  I've seen them twice, once in 1996 and once in 2004 (the 2004 show I've uploaded here), and they were as good as I expected and then some both times.  I'd love to see a show today, but with ticket prices as high as they are and me not going without getting the best recording I can (which means higher priced tickets too), I just haven't had the money to do so lately.

Rush has a huge fan base and they sell out shows to this day.  But I do plan to try and see them (and record them of course) the next time they come to town.  Who knows how much longer they'll be touring?  Hopefully, it'll be for a long time though!

Enjoy the show...

Stevie Ray Vaughn: 1985-03-01 Dallas, TX (FLAC_SB/Studio_2 CD)

This is a superb studio soundboard of SRV doing some sessions and/or outtakes at Dallas Sound Labs studio in 1985.  It's pretty interesting listening to songs played differently and the talk between tracks on a few of them.

I have left the file set "as is" in this upload because it was done right.  The songs are all titled, the file fingerprint was created, and so was the md5 checksum file.  The info file has relevant information and the original sharer fixed any sector boundary errors (SBE's) before they shared this recording.  I double checked the SBE's and there were none found thus indicating it was done correctly.  I also checked to make sure there were no lossiness properties in the audio files and they came back with 100% CDDA probability (meaning they were never converted to a lossy format such as an mp3).  All original files tested with no errors in Trader's Little Helper (TLH) too.

I always enjoy hearing studio jams and outtakes from artists.  Whether it be a new or never released song, or many times just the chat and variations in the songs compared to their original releases, it is interesting to hear these sessions as they played out.

Stevie Ray Vaughn was a very talented artist and played from the soul with his blues jams.  I hate to hear people compare him to Jimi Hendrix because they were two different people and had two different styles.  Many people throughout the years have said SRV was just copying Hendrix, but that isn't the case at all.  He admired and loved Hendrix's  music, so like any other normal person, he played some of the songs he liked.  And he did it very well.  But he did it with his own style and was not a Hendrix cover band!

SRV's music, and especially the earlier era to me, has always been very enjoyable because he was so very talented.  He was an awesome blues guitarist that played and sang what he felt.  And he felt the same way many people do and that's why his music was loved by so many people even after his death in a helicopter crash on August 27th, 1990.  But his music lives on through collectors and fans like us and it will continue to do so for a long, long time!

Until next upload...

Judas Priest: 1983-12-17 Dortmund, Germany (Pro Shot DVD)

This is a superb low generation Super VHS (SVHS) transfer of a video of Judas Priest in Germany at the end of 1983.  It is not the full concert unfortunately.  But it is seven songs out of the concert and the video and audio are the best known in existence for this specific show.  I believe this may have been one of the RockPop German TV program concerts, but I do not see any credits or information given that supports this theory either.

I went ahead and did some searching for any artwork created for this DVD and found this was a 1983 RockPop concert.  This may be the full show because Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Krokus, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, MSG, and Judas Priest all played at this event.  I do not know if it was all in the same day or not?  But either way, with this many bands playing no band would have a full show they played due to time constraints due to so many bands playing.
