Journey: 1986-10-10 Richfield, OH (FLAC_AUD Remaster_2 CD)

This is a first time upload here of this Journey show from 1986.  It really has a great mix and sound to it.  This is the October 10th, 1986 concert from the Cleveland, Ohio suburb of Richfield, Ohio.  Many of the Richfield shows get passed around for all kinds of the bands as "Cleveland".  But Richfield is the actual city that Richfield Coliseum was built in.

A very special thanks goes to "Steve7777" for the show and to "techtuts" for the remastering of the audio.  And there are many more Journey shows, some new to the site and some older and remastered, that will be coming soon.

Here's a note worth knowing.  While the Rubicon Reproduction's copy of this show is from the same source, this is NOT that file set.  I am adding the artwork for the Rubicon release but this audio is from the DAT tapes before they were altered by Rubicon (or anyone) for his sharing of the shows.  The excellent remastering was done by "techtuts" and it is a much better sounding project.  I have been very pleased with the skills "techtuts" has when it comes to audio and he really knows what he is doing.

ARTWORK (2 Sets):
Another Night In Any Town (Artwork)

This show has a really nice and clean sound to it.  And "techtuts" did a wonderful job of remastering the show with superb high end and low end frequency ranges coming through very strong and clear.  There is some slight tape warble that can barely be heard in some spots but it does not mess up the recording and the show sounds excellent.

The sound is pretty consistent throughout the performance with not much crowd noise interfering.  There are some points in the show, like during "Who's Crying Now", where the audio sounds as if the microphone got pointed away from the stage.  But it is not very often and it gets back to the excellent sounding audio again soon in these rare cases.  "Who's Crying Now" and "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" are really the songs the audio difference is noticeable in for longer than a few seconds.  The audio does seem heavier in the left channel starting up during "Be Good To Yourself" too and as the show is drawing closer to the end it is not as good sounding as it is throughout the majority of the show up until "Faithfully" is played.  But it is still good audio too even when it is not "as good".  The audio still is an excellent overall recording made even better by the remaster and it is a lot better than I'd thought it would be honestly.  It's the clean range in frequencies and the sound that makes it sound so good.  It is not a muffled 1986 show like so many are.

The show is not without flaws obviously.  But I bet it is the best sounding copy of the show out there and as soon as I get the lineage I think it will be somewhere in the master to first generation range from the DAT tape.

This show was just about four months before the band disappeared in 1987 not to be heard from again (as Journey) until 1996.  After almost a decade, we all thought there was going to be a new Journey tour with the same band members including Steve Perry and Steve Smith.  But that didn't happen and in 1998 Steve Perry was replaced by Steve Augeri and Steve Smith decided not to tour with Journey and was replaced by Deen Castronovo.  And that began the new rendition of Journey which has changed a few times over the years.

There is some good news for long time Journey fans today however.  With the departure of Deen Castronovo in 2015 as the band's drummer, Steve Smith has rejoined!  And on the 2016 tour starting really soon, Journey is doing their first three shows with Santana which is the group both Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie (ex-Journey keyboard player and backup vocals) started out with before they quit Santana and created Journey in 1973.  Unfortunately, the two bands won't be playing together when they make their way to my part of the globe.  Journey will be having the Doobie Brothers open for them by that point and they are a band I have never seen and look forward to seeing.  So it will surely be good and I hope I get to make it once again and record the shows as I have since 1999.

I think any Journey fan will really enjoy this excellent sounding show.  And the band seems really energetic this night too as they jammed out for Richfield nearing the end of an era now long gone.

I hope you enjoy this show...

Led Zeppelin: 1970-02-28 Copehagen, Denmark (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

It's just over the 46th anniversary of this show and this copy that was requested a few months ago now.  I've uploaded a master copy of this show in the past, in fact just over a year ago, if anyone is interested in it also.

I got this show, my first copy of it, in a 1990's CD-R trade.  I did an EAC rip of the show last year and have finally made an upload of it this year.

The waveform in this Baby Face label copy is excellent and has no clipping.  This is a great sounding show with an excellent setlist as well.

I haven't compared this Baby Face label copy lately to the other master audience copy I've uploaded a year ago.  And since I am in a hurry to get it uploaded this morning because I have a lot to do today, I'm not going to have time to plug in the drive with the master copy as well as a few other copies and compare them this morning.  My primary reason for uploading this copy today is that it was a request a few months ago and I am finally getting the time to get to it today.

I hope you enjoy this show...

The Eagles: 1980-03-04 Inglewood, CA (FLAC_SB 2nd Gen Remaster/Upgrade_2 CD)

Today is the 36th anniversary of this recently shared copy of this The Eagles concert from Inglewood, California's The Forum in 1980.  This show was right before the band had their final falling out and broke up until they reunited again in 1994.

This is a huge upgrade and superb sounding remastered copy of the show that recently was shared right after founding member Glenn Fry died on January 18, 2016.  A special thanks goes out to "Waxly Molding" for the recent sharing of this remastered and upgraded copy.

This is a remaster as well as it being a second generation copy is superb.  The sound is vastly better than a more common copy of the show that has been circulating for ages.  The show blows the more commonly shared copy out of the water.  I was really surprised at how good this copy sounds.

I uploaded this show, the more common and lesser copy now, back in 2014.  It can be found at THIS LINK if anyone wants to check it out.  However, if you just want the best circulating copy this uploaded being made today is the one you want!

The Eagles broke up in July of 1980, just four months after this show, and vowed to never play again until "hell freezes over" due to the strife within the band and heavy drug use and abuse going on then.  So when they got back together after 14 years in 1994, when they were all clean and sober, they returned on their "Hell Freezes Over" tour and have continued on and are still playing today.

After Glenn Frey's death, less than two months ago, they played a Grammy (or some sort of event like that) type of event being televised they played one song for the event with their long time friend, Jackson Browne, filling in for Glenn Frey.  I have the video of it in HD even though it sadly just doesn't sound the same.

While Jackson Browne is not likely going to take Glenn Frey's place as one of The Eagles, it does look as if they plan on carrying on without Glenn Frey.  At least I hope they do.  I just wish I could have seen them before Glenn Frey passed away when the band still had the long time members in it.  Because you can rarely replace a lifelong member and have everything still sound the same.  The Eagles have been one of the few bands that can still play songs from any time in their career and have the song sound like it did so many years ago.

I still enjoy the 1973 - 1978 concerts from the band the most (especially the earlier 1973 - 1975 shows).  But since these guys are such talented artists and have such great songs, I've continued enjoying their music on through today's concerts.  I'm curious to see what happens now that a lifelong member has finally died.  But I have little doubt that whoever they pick, if they pick anyone, to fill in for Glenn Frey will be a talented singer and artist that can play and sing the songs right.

I hope you enjoy the show...

Feist: 2007-04-23 Berlin, Germany (FLAC_AUD Master_1 CD)

This is a superb recording of a Feist show on her The Reminder tour of 2007 and 2008.  I love this show.  The audience recording is a superb one and the show is as well.  This show is almost 80 minutes long but it does fit onto 1 CD with a few seconds left for the CD formatting if you burn it to disc.

Feist played Berlin twice in 2007.  There was this night and then a night in September if I am remembering correctly.  I have the 2007-09-30 show  but it does exist.  It is reportedly another excellent sounding show and I hope a lossless source resurfaces again some dy soon!

The waveform is perfect like the show and has no audio clipping.  I had thought of doing some "fine tuning" on the audio but realized there was no need to.  The mix on it is great with the high end and low end frequencies as well as the quieter and more loud songs coming through brightly and at full range sounding.

I first listened to this show with a new set of headphones I got and it was the perfect show to break the headphones in with.  Being a great set of headphones, I could hear everything crystal clear in the instruments and the vocals too.  I later listened at a lower volume on my home theater system which is having issues with either my Denon receiver or the Boston Acoustic speakers right now.  I don't know what is going on.  But this show sounded superb still and I heard it in more of the normal environment I'd be listening to it in (the home setup).

I cannot say enough good things about this artist.  You likely either love Feist or you don't.  But she has so much talent, with her voice and musical playing talents, and she is so much more enjoyable in my opinion when she's playing a live show.  I like her studio work too but the live shows are ever changing and she is really smart and surrounds herself with other talented musicians with a wide variety of instruments.  Her songs are really home hitting to me too.

It actually took me a little while back when I first heard of her almost a decade ago to have her music grow on me.  But I knew from the first time I saw her on a program on TV I was going to listen to her more and get familiar with her music eventually.  I'm really a classic rock kind of guy and this music is not that.  But it is spectacular I learned the more I listened to her and I am always looking for the shows I missed back before I ever had heard of her.  I've even stooped to getting mp3 copies of a lot of shows because it was all I could find in the time frame before I actually started using torrent sites like Dime to find the quality, lossless shows.

I would highly recommend giving her a listen if you never have heard her voice or music.  Some of her music is more quiet and slower and some is the total opposite.  She encompasses a wide range of music and her songs are not the same exact thing each show as she tours.  She changes the setlist as well as the way she plays a song each night it seems when she plays live.  And her style of guitar playing, the actual sound she gets on her electric and acoustic guitars, is a unique style and sound of its own.  Having heard her talk in various interviews she loves experimenting and changing things as well as getting raw, unorthodox sounds and beats from herself as well as her band members.  I cannot wait until she finally makes a new album because she has become my favorite female artist  over the years with the voice of an angel and it moves me honestly.

A very special thanks goes to "fant30" for sharing this show over on Dime recently!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1977-06-27 Los Angeles, CA (FLAC_AUD Source 1 + Very Short Other Source(s)_4 CD)

This is the excellent EVSD release of Led Zeppelin's sixth and last night in Los Angeles ever.  I was going to upload the Mike Millard unmarked first generation source, another excellent recording this show is sourced from, but EVSD did such a good job on this one and did so with no audio clipping that I decided to share the EVSD set first.  Maybe I can get the unmarked Mike Millard first generation tapes uploaded this year on their birthday (or maybe sooner)?

This show sounds superb to me really but there is some slight tape hiss.  It is not anything terrible and in fact I am glad it is there.  Why you ask?  Because it tells me EVSD didn't chop out the high frequencies like they do at times.

I really like this "No Quarter" version on the 4 CD set.  It has some different John Paul Jones (nearer to the beginning) and Jimmy Page (nearer to the end) played music.  It may not be that it was so "different" and may just be more that in this recording you can hear it better making it sound different.  I'll leave it at that and let you be the judge and hear it yourself.  And in this show, Led Zeppelin added "Dancing Days" to the setlist too.  I imagine it was a bonus track since it was their last of six nights playing in Los Angeles.

I did not check like I meant to and see if this show actually fits onto 3 CD's. I seem to recall that it can, but since I have been so far behind in getting any uploads lately, I'm just uploading it this morning before the day gets going.

As I mentioned this recording has no audio clipping, sounds excellent/superb, and the high end as well as the low end frequencies have a nice mix too.  The band plays a superb show on this last night in one of their favorite states and cities too.

It's rather ironic that they launched their American career in California and ended their last American shows within a month of this show in 1977 in the same state too.  They would have been here again on their 1980 tour of course if it had not been cut short after the European leg when John Bonham sadly died.

One last thing worth mentioning is this is not from the faulty, first release of this box set.  Originally, disc three had issues with gaps between the tracks.  I guess EVSD didn't do any quality control before shipping them to buyers (who claim this was a very expensive set when released).  I guess the complaints came in fast and from the way it sounds people were sent a correct disc 3 or some even received 5 CD sets containing both the bad and good CD 3 copies enclosed I have read.  But this is not from the faulty releases and there are no errors in this copy.

Make that two last things.  The source for this show is the Mike Millard recording but there are a few very short patches used from other sources (or at least one other source).  But in general, this is a very nice Mike Millard recording and the job EVSD did putting it together with and without the other source(s) was a job well done!

I hope you enjoy the show...

Led Zeppelin: 1977-06-26 Los Angeles, CA (FLAC_AUD 2nd Gen Source 1 Remaster_3 CD)

Here is another show I've never uploaded any copies of before and one that has been requested recently.  I learned some new information over the last few days reading up on posts and comments about this show's recordings and sources available.  As far as I can tell, there are two sources that exist at least but we really have one primary source (source 1) and then a filler source (source 2) used on a few mixed recordings.  The source 2 material is usually very short and not needed much when filling in source 1 gaps.

But nobody seems to be able to find a copy of the source 2 material on its own and a number of people are looking and hoping to find the full source 2 (or whatever exists from it) recording.  If you can help out, please leave a comment here on this blog site and let me know.  The best way for you to reach me is to leave a comment or send me a private message on my Bootradr's Blind Boot Blog Facebook Community Group page HERE and then we can talk via PM.  Or, if you have another way you'd like to contact me about the source 2 recording, just let me know and we'll work something out.

This recording being shared today is source 1 only and it is the dadgad remaster of the 2nd generation source 1 audience tape.  A more recent and edited ( but unaltered as far as the sound goes) copy of this same source, and it is one from a 1st generation tape copy, was shared last year.  I'm not uploading that copy because it is the raw and unaltered audio which is far less superior sounding than this 2nd generation (same source) remastered copy.

Most of what was edited in the 2015 copy share will be discussed in short detail below.  I want to get on to providing the details and getting this copy of the show uploaded now however.

(2) 1977-06-26 Los Angeles, CA (AUD 2nd Gen Source 1/dadgad Remaster)

This 2007 dadgad remaster being shared here is most likely the best sounding copy of the show right now (or at least that I know of).  It ranges from great to excellent and it is so much better sounding than the 2015 unaltered audio/sound copy shared.  There are some faults in this copy however and I'll describe them in a minute.  As for the waveform, this copy looks perfect with no audio clipping or issues I could see.  This remastered copy being shared was created in March of 2007.

One issue with this copy being shared is it has some repetitious parts in the recording that were not removed.  They were fixed and removed in the 2015 edit of the two source mix of the show but not in this remastered copy.  Here is a copy and paste of some notes in  dadgad's 2015 text file:

"
Edit (2015):
Repeated material (WS/BMS and OTT: 14 mins and 22 secs total) and digital silences (24 secs total) edited out with Adobe Audition 3.0.1
"

So this recording being shared today, while sounding better, has almost 15 minutes of repeats and some silence in it.  And it is not as complete as the 2015 edit because the newer edit uses parts from source 2 to fill in gaps or missing material not in source 1.  Here is another copy and paste from dadgad's 2015 post of the edited copy:

Original comments: On the original transfer there's a small cut at the beginning of Kashmir; I patched in the missing portion of music taking it from ton185's 2nd gen transfer of the same source torrented by pmonk66 at TTD.  The remaining of the transfer is unaltered."

You have to remember though that the italicized comments copied and pasted are from the 2015 edited copy's text file that does not sound as good as this (believed to be) 2007 remastered copy being uploaded now.  What needs to be done in the future is the same thing that was done to the 2015 edit.  We need the 2015 processes done to this 2007 remastered copy.

I could go on talking about this show, source, edits, etc and still not mention everything I want to say.  I am tired and I am wrapping up this post so I can upload it.

This 1977-06-26 recording is NOT as good of a sounding show as the last night
1977-06-25 show I uploaded.  I was mistaken when I stated everything from 1977-06-25 on was better sounding (and 1977-06-25 sounded excellent too).  This show being shared today is what I call great-to-excellent and to me I love that range in quality.  I personally rate it higher for my own self.  But since I'm trying to keep some sort of scale others can judge by, well, I'll stick to my great-to-excellent rating for the 1977-06-26 upload today.

I have heard some copies of this show that are horrible sounding and some that are much better.  But it does seem no matter what copy we get or hear, they all are likely from source 1 now and just different generations, mixes, etc have been introduced.  My two favorites for this show are this copy and the Silver Rarities (SIRA) Sundazed copy.  Both are excellent but I think dadgad's low generation copy here has much cleaner high end frequencies he brought out when he remastered the audio.  He really did a superb job because I have the unaltered copy of this audio in two different states (source 1 unaltered and source 1 & 2 mix unaltered) of pre-remastering processing and they sound nothing near as good as his final project being uploaded now..

I hope you enjoy the show...

The audio sounds excellent-to-superb in this recording and the waveform looks perfect as well with no issues such as audio clipping.  And as always, Winston Remasters does another great job on this 2007 remaster.

On 2013-09-02, Winston Remasters released another project of this same source and show.  He noted he "cleaned" it up and included some details (below) of things he did to the recording.  I haven't found out yet if he cleaned up the copy I'm sharing here today or if he started from scratch.

Winston Remasters 2013 "Cleaned" Copy Info (copy & paste):
"HiFi VHS machines used for both recording and transferring: Mitsubishi HiFi VCR's
Soundcard: ECHO MIA with Purewave feature
Transferred at 24bit/96kHz

Restoration at 24/96:

1. VHS tracking static cleaned up using a pencil tool
2. Light hiss reduction using a Sound Forge 2.0 Noise Reduction plugin (many very small passes)
3. Hum removal using Waves hum removal plugin

Resampling to 44.100 using Izotope 64-Bit SRC with anti-alaising at the highest quality setting
Dithering to 16 bit using Samplitude 11 with Triangular spread noise (Standard Dithering)
"

I think both copies by Winston Remasters are excellent.  And to be honest, I may even like the 2007 remaster being uploaded here right now a little better.  I think the higher frequencies are heard better even if it does introduce a little more hiss (nothing too bad at all).  But both copies are great and I went ahead and uploaded the 2007 copy/project first because I'd started working on getting it ready a week ago.  I can upload the 2013 copy too in the future.  Maybe I can do it on the shows 39th anniversary this year?

This is another show/date of Led Zeppelin's I have never uploaded before.  There are still two more from the six The Forum shows, the June 26th and 27th shows in Los Angeles, I have not uploaded before either.  While they are not exactly rare in the sense there are many copies, versions, and even a few sources for them available (and they have been for years), I just never realized I had not uploaded these shows before so at the request of "ZOSO1000" I am now.  And the great news is all of the six Los Angeles 1977 shows sound excellent to superb also and are great, long recordings to listen to!

I hope you enjoy the show...
