Led Zeppelin: 1977-04-03 Oklahoma City, OK (FLAC_AUD 1st Gen_3 CD)

Today is the 38th anniversary of this Led Zeppelin concert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  The band was fresh on their 1977 tour and this was their second show on the tour.  The first was in Dallas on 1977-04-01 and is the wort known audience recording of Led Zeppelin to exist.

At the time of this Oklahoma City show, it had been two years since the band played their last show in 1975.  And after a lot of problems and issues in band member's lives, with more terrible news to soon hit Robert Plant when his son died a few months after this show as Led Zeppelin was on tour, they were ready to tour and get back in the game.  Still recovering and dealing with issues, they actually sounded a bit rusty too.

The 1977 Led Zeppelin tour has some superb performances but is also known as the band's worse period in time so far and it is also known for some of their worst shows too.

This recording is the best sounding one out of the three I have on the PC and two CD set I got in the trading CD-R years earlier.  This is the "Sean_The_Bootlegger" shared copy and it may have some processing done on it.  The waveform has a lot of space to go before coming close to any clipping, so needless to say there is no audio clipping.

The speed on this recording is a tiny bit slow and many people would likely never realize it if I wasn't talking about it.  It also has some tape noise in parts of the show throughout the recording.  But the sound is a lot cleaner, has better fidelity, and beats the other master and first generation copies I've heard.

I don't know who the source of this recording is or even if there are multiple sources for sure.  But from the copies already on the PC that I've listened to, I do believe there are at least two sources for the show if not three.  The Paul C. recorded and "weedwacker" transferred first generation copy may be the same source as this recording but I would have to check more to say for sure.  And if it is, then this first generation copy has been likely EQ'ed and the sound has been made cleaner in the high end frequencies.

I hope you enjoy this show...
