Led Zeppelin: 1969-02-01 New York,NY (DVD-A_AUD 2nd Gen_LPCM 48 kHz/24 Bit_2nd Set)

This is by far the best sounding copy of the legendary, as well as disputable, second show Led Zeppelin ever did in New York.  And it just so happens it was 46 years ago tonight (what are those chances).

I mention this show has been disputed.  And what I mean is the date of it.  Led Zeppelin played two sets (or shows) at the Fillmore East on 1969-01-31 and 1969-02-01.  The first set would be played, a break would be taken, then the second set or half of the show was played.  However, on this night John Paul Jones had left an instrument in the hotel room and the show was being delayed.  So the first set started off with Jimmy Page playing "White Summer" while Jones' instrument was retrieved.   And this is the second set in this recording being uploaded first.

Many people have said, "the date is 1969-01-31" and many others have said "mo, it was really 1969-02-01."  Some video, about a 30 second clip, of the 1969-01-31 show surfaced a few years back and it did not match this recording being shared here.  While there is no concrete proof this date in this upload is February 1st, it is nearly proven and definitely makes the most sense.  But since I wasn't there, I have to go with the word of people who were and the general consensus of those who have researched and know a lot more about it than I do.  I'll upload the first set of the show,in a little while too.

Thanks to "pernod" for helping me clarify what should be the correct information when I asked on R-O earlier today as I started preparing this upload.  I decided to get it right rather than come back and correct it late.  That especially helps when you look at the text file later too :-)

Rather than reword what has already been said by the sharing party, "weedwacker", here is a copy and paste of the notes in the original information given.

ORIGINAL NOTES (copy & paste):
"Bill was gracious enough to lend me this reel to transfer. The backstory behind this reel is Bill received this from Bob Whitfield back in 1980. This reel didn't have the tuneups prior to Train Kept A Rollin' that is present on some of the other copies. This is an excellent recording of a young zeppelin band just beginning to make their mark on the music world. This a tight, no nonsense performance. This also happens to be the first show they ever played in New York as Led Zeppelin. A very light mastering was done to attenuate some of the hiss and fix some minor dropouts in the recording. None of the music was affected and no lossy processing was done period."

Whether this show actually occurred on 1969-01-31 or 1969-02-01, that really isn't as important as us having it.  And I've got so many labels and version of it, some with more or less tape than the others, that I'm sharing what sounds best today.

I will be uploading set 1, or the first half of the show, also in a little while if able.  And if not tonight, I'll put it up tomorrow as I catch up on some shows I promised to get uploaded (as well as Zeppelin's February 2nd show from 1969 too).

Enjoy the show...
