Led Zeppelin: 2012-09-21 "Celebration Day" Pre Release Press Conference

Here's a very enjoyable video of the press conference with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones on their upcoming release of the DVD and CDs of their 2007-12-10 London O2 Arena show.  The audience gets to ask them questions for a little over 30 minutes.

It's only 6 more days until "Celebration Day" is released!!!

Enjoy...

I really like seeing uploads/downloads like this one for a number of reasons.  First, this excellent recording of the show was done by a Sony Walkman Professional tape recorder.  I did a little web searching and saw this is still (even today) rated as one of the top ten, best tape recorders made (when it was made).  I also like that the recording was done with the unit's stock microphone.  You cannot buy anything nowadays and get the recording you really want without making extra purchases on items like external microphones, etc.  It shows the quality of products still being sold in the 1980's.  And I also like the fact a girl recorded this show.  Most times, and from my experiences, females don't usually get into this kind of thing (bootlegging shows) as much as males do.  But in the last few years, I've been seeing more and more great quality bootlegs that were recorded by females.  It gives me hope that maybe one day I'll meet a girl who loves music (and especially the same type) as much as I do :-)

Anyhow, I'm not trying to do any stereotyping (just stereo recording) and I like seeing that there are people of the opposite sex that enjoy the same things I do!

So, I hope you enjoy this recording from the Jimmy Page concert in NYC from 24 years ago today...

Led Zeppelin: 1971-11-11 Newcastle, UK (FLAC_AUD_2 CD)

Here's another great show, this time from 41 years ago today.  I just got this version of the show myself today.  I hadn't noticed this before, but my copy from the snail mail trading CD-R days was a 1 CD, shorter version of this show.  I got it not long after it surfaced in the late 1990's originally and it was titled "Teddy Bears Picnic".

DETAILS:

This show, which has tracks from Led Zeppelin's 4th LP, was a few days before the 4th LP was to be released.  So the lucky attendants not only got to see the band; they got to hear songs like "Stairway To Heaven" (amongst others) that hadn't even been released yet.

Unfortunately, unless another source surfaces, "Celebration Day" is the last track from the show that is known to exist.  How fitting considering that the 2007-12-10 Led Zeppelin reunion show (probably their last concert ever) is being released officially in one week and is titled "Celebration Day" :-)  Reportedly, the rest of the show was lost and even the master tapes were past the point of being able to be used due to time and deterioration.  But fortunately, the taper did (at some point) make a backup of the show and we now have most of the show (up through "Celebration Day").

As far as I can tell this is the most complete and best sounding version of the show available.

I hope you enjoy the show...

REO Speedwagon: 1974-11-11 Long Beach, CA (FLAC_SB_1 CD)

Here is a real rarity!  This is a four song, 38 years ago today, pre Kevin Cronin REO Speedwagon show.  The show was being recorded for a TV program that use to be aired called Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.  I've never seen any video of this specific REO Speedwagon show, so I have no idea whether it was broadcast or not.  The show was "first aired" according to the uploader's (where I got it from) text file on 1974-12-04.  I'm not sure if the audio was aired or the video was aired too on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.

DETAILS:
Artist: REO Speedwagon
Date: November 11th, 1974
Location: Long Beach, California
Venue: Long Beach Auditorium
Source: SB
Format: FLAC
CD: 1
Artwork: Yes (front art only)
Label: none
Title: Long Beach Arena November 11, 1974
Size: 108 MB

SETLIST:
01. Down By The Dam
02. Son Of A Poor Man
03. Lost In A Dream
04. Do Your Best

LINK:
1974-11-11 Long Beach, CA (SB)

Other than the bass player and singer, the band had the same lineup as they did up through the 1980's when they had reached stardom.  Kevin Cronin and Bruce Hall had not joined REO Speedwagon yet.  In 1974, the singer was Mike Murphy and the bass player was Gregg Philbin.

I've left the files in 100% untouched order.  I didn't go through the process of renaming tracks (embedding titles) or doing anything.  I didn't create a text file but I did leave the original uploader's text file unaltered.  It has any information needed or desired on the show and file details.  I did check the ffp and md5 files and the integrity of the show is 100% intact.  So, I did not create any new file fingerprint or checksum files since they weren't needed.

So, all you have to do is download the show and enjoy it now...

Feist: 2004-11-11 Berlin, Germany (mp3 @ 320 kbps_SB/FM_1 CD)

As much as I hate mp3 files, when it's all I can find then I have to use them.  This is one of those rare exceptions I upload a lossy formatted show.  It is an excellent sounding and performed show and is an early look into Feist's career as "Feist" (not the parts she had in other people's bands).

This show, from Berlin, Germany, was on a Monday 8 years ago today.  I love this show and some of the tracks you do not find in other shows (or on officially released CDs either).  It has great sound and was broadcast over FM radio in Germany.

DETAILS:
Artist: Feist
Date: November 11th, 2004
Location: Berlin, Germany
Venue: Marian am Ufer
Source: SB/FM
Format: mp3 @ 320 kbps
CD's: 1
Artwork: No (I did include one concert photo taken and a poster for the show)
Label: none
Title: Live In Berlin
Size: 156 MB

SETLIST:
01. When I was A Young Girl
02. Gatekeeper
03. One Evening
04. Anti-Pioneer
05. Secret Heart
06. Leisure Suite
07. Mushaboom
08. Foolproof (256K file)
09. Lonely Lonely
10. The Simple Story
11. That Girl
12. Sea Lion Woman
13. Intuition
14. Let It Die

As I was locating the folder and files for this show and looking on the web for any possible artwork or photos of it, I cam across this 320 kbps version of the show.  My earlier version was a 256 kbps mp3 version so I downloaded and used the higher bitrate version (a little less lossy).  However, track 8, "Foolproof", wasn't in that download.  So I copied the track from my 256 kbps version of the show and added it to make the show complete.

If you like Feist, then you will without a doubt love this show.

If anyone has a lossless version of this show, please, please, please let me know.   A lot of my earlier Feist recordings are mp3 formatted because that was all I could find at the time.  But I am always looking for upgrades to anything I have and would greatly appreciate it!  You could share it, we could work out a trade, etc.  Just leave a comment in the comment field and I would happoily contact you as soon as I see it.

Enjoy the show...

Trumph: 1979-08-19 Chicago, IL (FLAC_SB/FM_1 CD)

This is a superb sounding Triumph show from their years before their 1980's hits that produced the songs you hear on the radio today and have for many years.  While I like many of 1980's songs better, I still love to listen to an excellent quality recording of a band I like.  And don';t get me wrong.  There are some excellent songs in this show and some you will remember hearing through the years too.

Venue: Aragon Ballroom
Source: SB/FM (Studio Jam broadcast/possible Pre-FM)

01. American Girls
02. Street Fighter
03. Hold On
04. Lay It On The Line
05. Blinding Light Show
06. 24 Hours A Day
07. Takes Time

My favorites on this CD are "Hold On" and "Lay It On The Line"; songs regularly played on the radio.  I'm familiar with these "non radio friendly" songs because I have a number of 1970's - 1980's bootleg and all officially released Triumph recordings.  But if you know Triumph just from their radio played hits, this is a show worth checking out for sure.  and at this price (free), what do you have to lose?

Enjoy the show...

Heart: 1977-07-17 Los Angeles, CA (FLAC_SB/Pre-FM_1 CD)

This is an excellent sounding Heart show from 1977 that was aired over a year later for the BBC Rock Hour radio program.  This is not an off-air recording of the show.  It is a copy of the master reel (pre-FM) the show was recorded to.  It even has two Toyota 1978 car commercials in it.  The audio mix is excellent (unaltered) and the bass and high end instruments, as well as the vocals, are superb!

I've always liked Heart.  Even seeing them nowadays, they rock and sound great.  The Wilson sisters vocally sound and sing just like they did when they started in the 1970's.  And they have always been hige Led Zeppelin fans too.  I don't think I have a single concert of them where they don't do at least one Led Zeppelin cover tune (and many times two or three of them).

This is such a superb stereo recording and could/should be officially released.  I'm sure the show's broadcast was cut short as they usually are and doesn't include every song they played that day in 1977.  But they BBC Rock Hour recording definitely picked great songs to include in their broadcast.

I hope you enjoy the show...
